Can't believe it's Wednesday already! The last few days have been crazy hectic. Things should be a little bit better here for awhile (or I should at least consider working ahead instead of waiting until the last minute and feeling manic).
I know I owe several of you emails regarding questions you've asked me. I am working on it. I am going to try and get those all out by tonight and post a Q&A here tomorrow. :)
My May Celebrate the Seasons class went up at 2Peas yesterday. With Mother's Day coming up this weekend I thought it would be the perfect time to create a Mother's Day layout.
Unfortunately, I discovered that I had NO current Mother's Day photos to work with. I am really, really bad about getting photos on Mother's (or Father's) Day. So it was totally a good reminder that this year I need to get some photos of the kids and I and what we do. In fact, this year I am copying my sweet friend, Jennifer and getting lots of flowers and doing my planting (with my willing helpers) all day long. I can't wait!
Since I didn't have photos of the actual event, and I still wanted to scrapbook Mother's Day I chose to incorporate some favorite photos I've taken of the kiddos and I over the last year or so and just some favorite recent photos of the kids for my layout. The journaling was inspired by the quote you see right under the layout's title (what the books never tell you...). Because I wanted to add quite a bit of journaling I designed a sketch where one side of the layout was journaling heavy and the other side photo heavy (to balance it all out).

And if you don't want to (or feel like) scrapbooking Mother's Day you can always incorporate another seasonal celebration (Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day, etc.) or maybe your own family's important events for May (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).
The challenge this month is to use a flower somewhere on your design. It can be custom made (I die cut all of my flowers from patterned paper, vellum and cork paper), pre-made (Making Memories, Prima, etc.), chipboard flowers, punched flowers, stamped flowers, etc.
By uploading your layout to the gallery at 2peas and clicking the box next to my class you'll be entered into a random drawing to win a 2peas gift certificate! Fun!
And if you have never uploaded a layout, check out this great instructional video by Mellypea HERE.

Time to get to work and stop procrastinating.
Have a great day!
