Posting this a day late.... it's summertime and I am feeling a little lazy.
This week's 2-page layout is actually 2 single page layouts, one is the title page and one the end page for my son's Kindergarten section in his school album. The design could also very well be used for a traditional 2-page layout too.
This layout coordinates with the From Start to Finish layout from a couple of weeks ago HERE.
I die cut the Kindergarten title using Kerri Bradford's School Year's Kit (linked below). I cut the base of the 2-part die cut design first from black cardstock, then the yellow patterned paper and adhered the yellow slightly offset from the black to create a shadowed look. Then I die cut the second part of the design from red and adhered it directly over the yellow. An Ali Edwards phrase stamp below the die cut design adds to the titlework and adds interest without bulk. The pencil was cut from a sheet of patterned paper and given dimension with foam adhesive.
I die cut the MME patterned paper using Kerri Bradford's On the Edge Digi Die Cut Kit (linked below in supplies). You could also achieve this look with a notebook edge punch.
I used the Unity Stamp Advent Set to stamp the date. The numbers are large and really make a statement. I added punched and layered shapes between the two dates and added a stamped phrase below for additional text and interest that supports the page design.
I layered a few strips to reinforce the school theme on the bottom of the page and added some flag stickers and a phrase sticker for embellishment.
For the end page (or right side) I trimmed 4 - 5" squares from patterned paper and adhered to white cardstock. Then I added memorabilia from my son's Kindergarten year and simple embellishments to add interest to the page.
I stamped a phrase from the Unity Stamp Advent Set on an October Afternoon label for a simple touch.
I incorporated bits and pieces from the Becky Higgins School Kit here and there (like this word sticker). Even though I am not using all the elements from her kit for my son's album, I really love bits and pieces of it and it's ok to use only what you love and not the rest. ;)
The video this week is a little long. I rambled a bit about my thought process on creating my son's school album... skip about the first 7 minutes if you don't want to hear about the product and only want to watch the layout creation. Thanks!
