Almost a year ago I shared THESE baby shower invites I created for one of my sister-in-law's who was expecting a baby boy. They were labor intensive with all the Silhouette die-cutting but so much fun to make. I love being able to create special things like these for those special friends and/or family in my life.
Today, I have another baby shower invitation to share with you but this time it's for my brother and his wife who are expecting their first baby next month, a girl! I am super excited. Again, I used lots of die cuttings (this time using Papertrey Ink dies and my Sizzix) and lots of stamping. I love how they turned out.
I started by die cutting all the pieces for the invitations: the onesie (stamped part on the front), the onsie card (card folded in half and die cut on the line to provide a shaped card), the giraffe and the banner.
Then I stamped all the onesie's using the Hero Arts Large Plaid Pattern Stamp and Stampin' Up Pink Pirouette Ink. Originally, I was going to just use this stamp on the front but it was just too plain.
So, I added the Hero Arts Daisy Reverse Pattern Background Stamp directly over the plaid background using the same SU Pink Pirouette ink and I love the results. The plaid background gives the "texture" of fabric and the floral background dresses it up and really makes the onesie look girlish.
Next, I stamped the greeting on all the banners using Papertrey Ink's Mat Stack 4 Collection Stamp Set ("you're invited") and SU Basic Gray Ink. Then I stamped the lines on the banner going out from the greeting using PTI Label Basics Stamp Set and SU Pink Pirouette Ink. The pink lines really finish off the greeting and dress up the double ended banner die.
Purple gems on the ends of each banner add sparkle and embellishment.
To stamp the giraffe (PTI Sweet Baby Stamp Set), I tried all colors of purple ink and just couldn't find the right shade. I finally remember my Memento Markers and the LuLu Lavender color was exactly what I was looking for. I really wanted a soft purple in just the right shade and this was the perfect color.
I used the coordinating tiny heart stamp from the same stamp set to stamp the heart on the giraffe using SU Pink Pirouette Ink. It really finishes off the giraffe and adds to the die cut.
Next I punched some half circles from PTI's Sweet Blush Cardstock using a 1 1/4" circle punch.
Then I punched a half scallop circle around the 1 1/4" circle using a 1 7/8" punch.
This created the sweet little scalloped collars for the onesie. I adhered them and trimmed the excess.
Finally, I tied bows using SU Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon and adhered each to the giraffes with a glue dot.
After all the die-cutting, stamping and embellishing were complete, it was time to assemble the card fronts. Then I ran the card part through my printer to add the important info, leaving a small space to stamp a few additional details and then I assembled the cards for mailing.
