This month the design team is featuring projects showcasing the February Studio AE stamp set, "Favorite Story by Ali Edwards".
Here's a layout I created with this stamp set:
One of my very favorite things to do with stamps is to create my own custom patterned paper backgrounds. Using 3 of the phrases from this stamp set I created this 6x12 custom strip of paper stamping the designs using 5 ink colors. I purposely chose ink colors that complimented my photos and the patterned papers I was using.
I started at the bottom of the paper in the middle and worked my way out and up, switching the ink color for each stamping. I keep a baby wipe handy to quickly swipe my stamp to clean it between each impression.
Here's what it looks like finished.
I could have left it exactly as it was but the rest of my patterned papers I am using have a more distressed feel and look to them so I added my own distressing with my favorite Studio Calico Clay Mister Huey ink. It gives just the right amount of "worn and weathered" to my piece.
Here's how the bottom half of the page shaped up once I added my patterned paper strip title (sub-title is an Ali Edwards stamp from an older stamp set), a journaling strip, a striped patterned paper strip sewn on over a piece of cream lace and some pretty yellow lace trim.
I added a stamped date on an MME label sticker in the same colors I used to stamp my patterned paper.
I created my own stamped label embellishment at the top of the page using Papertrey Ink stamps and dies with Ali Edwards stamps.
