It's time for another Studio AE Blog Hop and this month we're featuring the February 2013 Studio AE Stamp Set, Super Fantastic by Ali Edwards!
This month's Studio AE stamp set is one of those that I think is going to go super duper fast! Not only is it just general enough to make it great for almost any type of page or project that you might be working on but the mix of typography with Ali's signature handwriting fonts makes this a delightful stamped addition to any page or project life spread!
For my project today, I'm sharing a Valentine's themed page where I used FOUR of the stamp phrases from the February set along with one of Ali's banner stamps from another of her amazing stamp sets!
To create this page featuring photos of my two oldest from a Valentine's Day when they were much younger, I first opened and resized the two filmstrip or negative strip files in the Silhouette Software. The smaller frame with 7 openings is from the Silhouette Online Store and the larger frame with the "love this" phrase is a FREE download from Kerri Bradford's website HERE. I cut each filmstrip out from a different sheet of patterned paper, keeping mostly to neutral shade of gray and tan with a pop of red for just one strip. I love how it looks against all the neutral filmstrips on the page!
I set the filmstrips aside for a moment and set up my journaling on my computer and printed it directly to my background patterned paper before adhering a single thing to my page. As I layed out the elements I had ready for my page, I knew I wanted to tilt my journaling to fall "in line" with the rest of the design! I love how it looks. :) I also took the journaling directly from an old 2-page layout I had created with these same photos that was really, really old and I really, really didn't like it. It's been in my "do-over" file for awhile now! Feels good to finally give these photos a makeover so I can put them back in our family album(s)!
I used Versamark ink to stamp 3 of Ali's phrases from this month's set above the wider photo frame and 1 below. I used red and platinum embossing powders to match the rest of the layout.
I also used a banner stamp by Ali. I stamped the image on patterned paper using Versamark, heat set it with embossing powder and cut it out using scissors. Then I simply popped it up in the middle using foam adhesive and glue dots on each end for that "realistic banner effect"!
I love how the addition of emossed stamping moves through the design of the page and helps tell the story and reinforce the mood and feel of the layout.
To finish my page I added all those fun little "extras" that really make a page come together. Wood veneer shapes, stickers, sequins, punched patterned paper hearts, chipboard alphas and more! Fun, fun, fun!
