The Card Kitchen | Jillibean Soup (cards #6, 7 & 8)

Today, I'm gonna share the rest of the cards I created with the April 2012 The Card Kitchen kit. Every card I've shared this week was created with just the kit, no other supplies, except for adhesives and plain white string for sewing on "buttons". How awesome is that?!!! Eight cards from one kit. And I have lots left over to use on other projects!

This is a super simple little card but it may be my favorite from this kit. Love that chevron background paper and then I cut the journaling card out and added a punch out butterfly right where the sunburst is on that journaling card. I tied some twine to the center of the butterfly and added the Bella flag with a greeting sticker attached. 

This is a great card to send to a loved one or friend who you don't get to see very often!

This next card is perfect to give to someone who has had a bad day or week or just something to cheer them up. Maybe fill a basket with their favorite margarita mix, salt and a couple of glasses.

I gathered up a bunch of similar die cuts, stickers and shapes and created a decorative edges border on the card with the border die cut. Super simple.  

This last card was created using scraps that were laying on my table. I cut them into diagonal sun "rays", adhered them to the card base and added a sticker adhered with foam adhesive.

How about a couple more card shares today?

Both of these were created with the April 2012 The Card Kitchen kit from Jillibean Soup. You can check out the kit HERE.

This first card showcases these adorable butterfly buttons that I just love. I used the whole package on one card. I know, obsessive much?!!!

Lots of layers again with a couple of easy patterned paper strips to ground everything.

This next card features a color blocked background with lots of journaling card layers on top.

To give the punch-out buttons more dimension, I threaded ribbon through each and adhered them with foam adhesive.

The Card Kitchen | Jillibean Soup (cards #2 & 3)

I've got a couple more April 2012 The Card Kitchen card shares for you today. These are from yesterday's blog post over on the The Card Kitchen blog HERE.

Both of these feature lots of layers. I split some of the tag to tuck under the top and bottom of the layers or from the sides, giving the illusion of a full layer underneath.

For my first card, I colorblocked the background with patterned papers and then added layers with the die cuts, cut-outs and stickers. Super easy to do!

FYI: Because I don't like any machine stitching to show on the inside of my cards, I do all my sewing prior to attaching different elemetns to my card base.

For my second card, I cut apart one of the journaling cards (I love this quote, btw!) and used it as the "base" to layer my die cut flower and leaves and greeting on. I tucked some labels (cut in half) under the top and bottom of the piece for additional color and detail.

I added texture to the die cut flower by crumpling each flower die cut before smoothing out and attaching to my card.

The Card Kitchen | Jillibean Soup (card #1)

I am thrilled to be able to share with you a card I created using Jillibean Soup's The Card Kitchen April 2012 Kit today. 

The colors in the kit are right down my alley. Greens, reds, blues and yellows. So fun.

I cut about 1 1/4" off the bottom edge of the front of the card and layered the ruffled trim underneath and machine stitched it in place with a couple of patterned paper strips along the bottom edge. I layered the label sticker over the cut apart journaling card using foam adhesive and added a butterfly attached with the Tiny Attacher. I finished the card with some twine and stickers from the kit.

Guest Designer | Elle's Studio

Happy Wednesday crafty friends!

I was thrilled to be asked to be the guest designer this month at Elle's Studio. If you are like me and love journaling tags, spots and labels you will love Elle's Studio products. Now, onto the projects!

First up, a holiday page. We thought it was so cute a few years ago when Payton lost both her front teeth just days before Christmas. I took these photos of her with her toothless smile just so I could document the experience. So fun!

I used six pieces from Elle's Studio on my page (products linked below in supplies).

I particularly love how easy the tags and journaling spots are to print on. Super easy to temporarily attach to a sheet of printer paper and run through my printer.

I also added a bit of stamping on a couple of the tags using stamps from Ali's November Studio AE Stamp Set. Love.

Next, I created a layout that gives a brief overview of a Christmas Day a few years back. I love creating pages like this that can tell the overall story of a day without creating page after page of the same event. Simple. Easy. And if I want to, I can include a divided sheet protector or two that showcases 4x6 photos (or other sizes) right in with this page for additional photos.

Again, I used lots of Elle's Studio tags for both embellishment and as a place to tell the story. They also serve as the title for this page.

The photo collage is from exclusive kit for The Spawn of True Scrap event. Kerri contributed to the digital goodie bag for the event and I love, love, love everything she created! (as always!)

Finally, I can't get enough of using little tags and pennants or banners on my cards. I love how these pennants are so incredibly detailed already. Add a little stamped greeting and instant card!

I used my favorite Studio Calico Mister Huey White to add some distressing to my card background.

Paper Smooches | Scooting By To Say Hi Card & GIVEAWAY

Here is my third and final card showcasing Paper Smooches stamps for the week. And, as promised, I have a little giveaway. Read on to find out more...

I have been creating more an more single layer (or close to single layer cards) here lately. They are easier to mail and with a few simple additions of glitter glue/pen or glossy accents you can dress them up without adding any bulk.

Card How To:

1. Stamp card front with Hero Arts Scattered Dots background stamp using Stampin' Up Sahara Sand ink. Color in dots with white Uniball Pen. Add Glossy Accents over each dot. Let dry.
2. Stamp scooter on card using black ink. Stamp flag and greeting as well.
3. Stamp scooter and flag on Neenah White Cardstock. Color in with Copics and cut out. Add detail with star stamp. Adhere to card as shown.
4. Round corners of card with Corner Chomper.

Paper Smooches | Let The Good Times Roll Card

I have another card featuring Paper Smooches stamps today. This one combines images from both the Perpetual Bliss Stamp Set and Falling For You Stamp Set.

I used Copic Spica Glitter Pens over the greeting, music notes and microphone for a subtle infusion of glittery goodness.

Wouldn't this be a cute card to give an iTunes gift card in?

Card How To:

1. Paper piece the background of card using patterned papers from 6x6 paper pads.
2. Stamp microphone from Perpetual Bliss Stamp Set on text background using black ink. Trace over microphone with black Spica Glitter Pen.
3. Stamp greeting and music notes from Perpetual Bliss Stamp Set on text background using colorful inks. Color over inked title with coordinating Spica Glitter Pens.
4. Stamp monster from Falling For You Stamp Set on Neenah Solar White Paper. Color in with Copics and cut out. Adhere to card. Add detail to monster with white pen. 
5. Add googly eyes.
6. Wrap ribbon around card and tie in a bow.

Jane's Doodles Vintage Christmas Blog Hop

Welcome to the Jane's Doodles Blog Hop featuring the Vintage Christmas Stamp Set!

I love creating Christmas cards and it was a real treat to play with these stamps hand drawn by Jane herself (Jane hand draws all the Jane's Doodles stamps)!

For my first card, I created this cute snowman scene using five stamps from the Vintage Christmas set.

Card How To:

1. Trim patterned paper from Lilybee Jingle 6x6 pad to 4x5.25" and adhere to base of card.
2. Trim stripe pattern from same paper pad to 1x4" and adhere along bottom edge of card.
3. Trim brown cardstock, round top two corners and adhere to card  as shown.
4. Tirm kraft cardstock, round top two corners and stamp with Hero Arts Envelope Pattern stamp using Stampin' Up Crumb Cake ink.
5. Stamp over evenlope pattern with Hero Arts Tiny Flakes background stamp using Colorbox Frost White Ink.
6. Stamp Vintage Christmas snowman on Neenah Solar White Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Color in snowman with Copics (listed below in supplies). Cut out snowman.
7. Stamp snowman on stamped background and adhere cut out snowman on top.
8. Tear "snow drifts" from Studio Calico paper and adhere as shown.
9. Stamp snowflakes from Vintage Christmas set using Versmark Ink. Emboss with white embossing powder. Adorn with pearl gems.
10. Wrap ribbon around cardstock layer and tie in a bow. Create bow with rustic twine and secure resin flower on top.

I'm  a sucker for vintage santa's and this one is perfect for cards, tags, etc. Simple Copic coloring and an elegant background make for a stunning presentation.

Card How To:

1. Trim gray cardstock to 4x5.25" and adhere to card base.
2. Trim white cardstock to 3.5x4.75" and stamp with Hero Arts Flourish stamp using Versamark Ink. Emboss with Holographic Embossing Powder. Mist over design using Studio Calico Clay Mister Huey and Shine Mister Huey. The embossed image will resist the mist ink. Gently wipe ink off embossed image with a dry rag.
3. Distress edges with edge distresser and wrap ribbon around piece and tie in a bow. Cut shank off decorative button and adhere over knot in bow with foam adhesive. Adhere piece to card base.
4. Punch a tag from white cardstock and stamp with a greeting from the Vintage Christmas set. Add string and "hang" from ribbon/button.
5. Stamp santa on Neenah Solar White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Color with Copics and cut out image. Add Diamond Stickles to the Santa hat and let dry. Adhere piece to card with foam adhesive.
6. Finish card with gems.

Guest Designer | Basic Grey (Picadilly Collection)

Hello Wednesday! I did a couple of projects as the Guest Designer over on the Basic Grey Blog today and even made a little video to go with!

I think the new Picadilly Collection from Basic Grey is my new favorite. It's super colorful (which as you know, I love) and the patterns are incredible. The smaller print on the "B" sides are perfect for die cutting into small pieces. 

My entire layout was inspired by the chipboard pieces that I made into "signs". When I looked through the chipboard embellishments these jumped out at me making me think how cute they would be mounted on signs like in a garden. From there, I remembered these photos I took a couple of summers ago and I built the entire scene around the "signs" to go with my photos.

To make sure that I could fit my backyard scene on my layout, I first opened up all my digital die cut designs in the Silhouette software and sized everything accordingly. I used designs from the Silhouette store (picnic table, tablecloth, sign, grass) and designs from Kerri Bradford Studio (fence, tree).

I combined die cuts, stickers and chipboard embellishmnets to create the scene. I love how the elements all work together to make the finished piece.

When laying out my page design I noticed that I would have open space in the top right corner of my page that would be a perfect spot for journaling. I printed my journaling prior to assembling my page.

To add interest to the photo collage and bottom half of the page, I added the title using Picadilly Alphabet stickers right to the large photo. Additional stickers finish off the page.

I decided to create a quick card using some of the leftover scraps from my layout. I added a googly eye to the sticker bird for a whimsical touch. The branch is a die cut design from the Silhouette Store:
