Stampin' Fun Friday | Vintage Button Cards

These are super, super simple but the finished look is so, so professional. 

This week's project features the new Papertrey Ink Button Boutique Stamps and dies.

I created a bunch of these super simple Button cards to give as gifts.

I used a variety of cardstock colors and inks and took buttons from my stash and sewed them to the stamped button cards.

I also created this felt floral using the Papertrey Ink Beautiful Blooms #1 Die Collection following Maile Belles tutorial HERE. These are so simple, yet so impressive. :)

In love with how professional these look finished. This stamp kit.... amazing.

Stampin' Fun Friday | Pretty Flowers Gift Card Set

Have you seen THESE 6x6 paper pads by My Mind's Eye?

They are the most gorgeous colors/patterns and I had to have them all. Perfect for card making. Smaller patterns that are just the right size for us cardmakers and the same patterns as the 12x12 papers. I used the coordinating 12x12 papers on THIS layout from this week's From Start to Finish.

I used the Mabel Papers 6x6 pad for the following card set. Yep, another card set. You can see the one from last week HERE.

I made three of these cards using this technique but will create a few more similar ones before giving this as a gift. I usually like to have 10-12 cards per gift box.

Stampin' Fun Friday | Simple Gift Card Set

One of my very favorite things to give as homemade gifts?

Card sets.

I thought I might get ahead of teacher gifts for the end of school year and got one gift card set all stamped up yesterday.

All of the cards use the same basic design:

For interest I used four colors of cardstock and various greetings from Hero Arts stamp sets.

When creating multiple cards with the same or similar design I find it easiest to create them assembly line style.

First, I trimmed all my paper to size and rounded any corners.

Then I stamped the background on each piece of colored cardstock with the coordinating ink.

Next, I stamped the floral design in white over the background.

I stamped each greeting on vellum strips using Basic Gray SU ink.

I die cut several rickrack borders from the Heather Bailey Gray felt and adhered the vellum and felt borders to each cards piece.

Machine stitch the border to the card. I used white thread for the top and a clear thread for the felt (the bottom bobbin thread is white). Leave the strings long and cut off excess all at once when finished sewing.

Pick out coordinating buttons from button collection. :)

Sew buttons onto all cards, then adhere each piece to the white card base.

Stamp the inside of each card with floral and inside greeting if needed.

Stampin' Fun Friday | Just Because (Copic Airbrushing Card)

Today's card features lots and lots and lots of Copic coloring and air brushing.

I am beyond thrilled with my new airbrushing system. I went with the air compressor (link in the supply list below) so that I wouldn't have to keep getting refill cans and I am so glad I did. I have big plans for my new airbrushing supplies, starting with a canvas that has been sitting here needing me to do something with it for way too long. Now, to find the time for these projects floating around in my head. ;)

I love this little Stampavie Mo Manning image. Probably one of my favorites from Stampavie. I think she is just too cute (and she reminds me a lot of my daughter right down to the unkempt hair and flip flops in the summer).

I didn't feel like the card needed a whole lot after all that coloring and air brushing so I went with a simple title (stamps and die by Papertrey Ink). I layered the lighter die cut banner on top of the darker one just for a bit of a shadowed effect and added some white pen stitching detail around the banner to finish it off before adhering with foam dot adhesive. A little jute twine and gem detail finisht the card.

Stampin' Fun Friday | Feel Better Soon (Hedgehog Card) + Stamp Storage

Someone recently asked me about my stamp storage, specifically my clear stamp storage. I had briefly covered it in THIS post that showcases my entire studio but wanted to give a bit closer look at my Clip it Up Floor Spinner now that I have transferred all my clear and cling stamps onto it.

The Clip it Up Floor Model fits neatly into an unused corner of my craft room and makes good use of an otherwise empty space. Plus, it opens up my shelving and other storage spaces for other things. I did purchase two additional Clip It Up Arms to give me even more storage. 

I love how I can quickly and easily find what I'm looking for with this system. I also am in the process of adding the Clip it Up Tabs to be even more organized.

Lots of questions on the clear envelopes I use to store my stamps. I use THESE. You can also get them on Amazon.com HERE. They are made to fit in 3-ring binders but I cut them in half and use them to hang from the clips as shown here.

Currently I have some of my favorite or newer Wood Mount Stamps in these postman cubbies from Pottery Barn. I don't have near as many wood mount stamps as I used to so this is an easy way for me to see my newest stuff quickly and easily. 

All my Stampin' Up stamp sets, Design Block background stamps are stored in THESE Artbin Double Deep Clear Storage Boxes. They are easy to store, easy to see through and work great for me.

All my other wood mounted stamps are stored in THESE Artbin clear boxes.

Stampin' Fun Friday | Happy Birthday Mouse in Teacup Card

I finally got around to coloring this adorable little Tina Wenke stamped image. I actually colored this little guy twice. I boogered up the first one. It happens. 

I went with a bright, colorful theme inspired by THIS image found on THIS website. I absolutely adored the rainbow of bright color in the floral arrangement and wanted to replicate it in my coloring on the flowers in the teacup. 

I originally went with a beige color scheme for the teacup but it really didn't show off the loveliness of the flowers. I am much happier with the aqua colored teacup. Besides, I seem to be partial to those particular copics (G0000, G00, G02). They are some of my favorites.

By the way, I am trying something new.  Along with the photo of the markers used, I am including links to each individual marker in the supply list to make it easier to see just exactly what is what. Hope that this small change will help my readers out. :)

I used a couple of Copic Spica Glitter Markers to add detail to the flowers and the ladybug. I also used some glossy accents on the ladybug's head and the mouse's nose and eyes. The Copic Spica's are listed in the supply list below as well. :)

The background of the card was pieced together with patterned paper scraps from my scrap file. I have really been loving the look of pieced backgrounds on my scrapbooking layouts lately and wanted to give it a try on a card. Examples of pieced backgrounds can be seen HERE and HERE.

I masked the stamped image and stamped a plaid background with a new Hero Arts Design Block Stamp and added inking to the edges of the die cut label with Distress Inks. I can't seem to leave a background white. ;)

I didn't want to leave out the inside of the card. I finished the design with the "inside" greeting from the Hero Arts stamp set and a little flower stamp from the same set.

Stampin' Fun Friday | My Everything Card

This week's Stampin' Fun Friday features another Valentine's-ish card that could also be an anniversary card or just an "I love you" card.

I pulled the following products to get started. I ended up adding additional cardstock colors but kept the supplies basically to what you see here:

I started by cutting the following Silhouette design from Papertrey Ink Smokey Shadow cardstock:

Then I cut the scallop mat from Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy cardstock and the rounded square from Neenah Solar White Cardstock using the following Silhouette design:

I wanted a long label/banner to stamp the greeting. I found this one from the Silhouette store. I modified it a bit (removed the circles) and it worked perfectly. I cut it from Papertrey Ink's Fine Linen cardstock:

*FYI* Cutting Papertrey Ink cardstock with your Silhouette. I usually discourage using the Papertrey Ink cardstock with the Silhouette. Not because their cardstock isn't top notch but because it is so top notch that it is super thick and the Silhouette tends to not always love it. However, I had no problems cutting any of the above designs and here's why:

1. I cut simple shapes. Nothing intricate or fancy here. I ungrouped the designs and removed anything small that wasn't necessary to complete my card.
2. I double cut every design (meaning the Silhouette cut everything twice).
3. I used an almost new cutting mat (I always, always use the thick cutting mats). It isn't brand new but it isn't old either. Lots of sticky left.
4. Last, and probably most important: I used an almost new blade. Just switched it out last week. A newer, sharper blade will cut through thicker cardstock (and all paper) easier than an old/dull one.

Time to assemble and stamp: my favorite part!

I used a Sizzix embossing folder to emboss just the front of the die cut card. Super simple but looks elegant. I haven't embossed in forever. 

*note to self* use my embossing folders! In fact, I ordered several Papertrey Ink ones to add to my collection.

I used Stampin' Up's Basic Gray Ink to stamp the greeting on the label/banner.

The Stamp-a-ma-jig is a must to get perfect placement with wood-mount stamps. Perfect stamping every time.

Aren't these Hero Arts Person stamps the cutest? I love these. And I think they would be rockin' on a scrapbook layout too...just sayin'.

A look at the layers adhered together with a piece of Stampin' Up's new seam binding ribbon between the two mats, tied in a pretty bow.

I felt like the greeting strip needed a little somethin' somethin'. The Hero Arts Plaid background and Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink did the job. Very subtle.

I added a Stampin' Up button to the girl and attached the greeting border with foam adhesive.

Hero Arts gems finish the greeting.

One additional greeting stamped inside and the card is finished.

Stampin' Fun Friday | Sending You Love Card

Welcome Stampers to this week's Stampin' Fun Friday!

This week's video features a Valentine's card using stamps from MTF Pure Innocence, Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn. I love mix and matching stamps from different manufacturers.

I wanted this cute little girl to really pop against the background so chose to antique the look with stamping with Antique Linen Distress Ink and inking with the same color plus Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

I hadn't played with my Copics in awhile. Like maybe all of December. Gasp!

It was so much fun that I know what I will be doing this weekend...coloring!

Stampin' Fun Friday (Papertrey Ink Friendship Jar & Fillers Card) + GIVEAWAY

Welcome into day 5 of Blog Reader Appreciation Week!

Today I have a friendly little PTI Friendship Jar & Fillers Card to share with you.

The inspiration was this print I saw on Etsy (there are actually tons of different ones available HERE.)

I loved how the text peeks through the colorful image. 

I didn't have any vintage text paper, so I improvised and made my own.

That Friend Definition Cling Stamp from Hero Arts gets a real workout in my craft studio. I can't even count how many times I use it!

Lately I have been wanting to finish off the inside of my cards just to give them a little extra somethin' somethin'.

I stamped the same florals inside the card using the Hero Arts Soft Brown Shadow Ink. I find the shadow inks work perfectly for things like this. Very soft and doesn't compete with either your hand written sentiment and/or stamped greeting.
