all star thank you cards

I made these a few weeks ago for Brenden to send out after his birthday.

I think it's so important for kids to learn early the importance of sending out thank you's. Now that Brenden and Payton are a bit older, I just let them write what they feel and I don't correct spelling, etc. I like that their thank you's are a good representation of them, right now. And it will be so cute to read back through these years from now. :)

The cards were created by cutting cardstock to 4 1/2" wide x 11" tall and scored in half so that the card opens at the bottom. I really am enjoying this style of card lately.

I stamped the background with Versamark ink and then stamped the individual stars on cardstock, cut them out and adhered them to the card.

So it's been so long since I've posted that my Typeapad account logged me out. Nice.

To get back into posting mode I thought I'd share a quick layout I did last night and posted to the Gallery at 2peas HERE.

 

I loved the weekly challenge this week from Shannon Tidwell to use clusters. I clustered some MM and Heidi Grace stickers/embellishments to create my title. 

This layout is part of my Christmas Card Photos from Friends and Family album that I add to each year. I am up-to-date except for the 2008 photos so this is the first of probably two layouts with this past year's photos from cards. :) 

A simple layout but I like to keep these pretty clean since there are usually so many photos on one layout. ;)

We are in the midst of a spring blizzard here in the midwest. Crazy. We got barely any snow over the winter months and last week it was gorgeous weather. In fact, the kids wore shorts and flip flops several of the days during our spring break. I even planted some flowers. Luckily only two planters. It's expected to snow all day and we could get more than 15+ inches. Blech.

Off to finish up my Celebrate the Seasons class for April. :)

happy St. Patty's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day. :)

We spent a very relaxing and wonderful Spring Break day here. 

• We all dressed up in our greens.
• We all got adjusted at the chiropractors. :) 
• Took some photos outside (the weather was absolutely amazing!).
• Played in the yard.
• Starting cleaning up some flower pots.
• Completely cleaned out the garage.
• Arranged for Good Will to come pick up some things.
• Made shamrock shaped sugar cookies.
• Chad and Jarret (our 19 year old roommate) started putting together the trampoline that Santa brought the kids for Christmas.
• I cooked one of our favorite suppers (a chicken and pasta dish).  
• Cleaned the kitchen. Finished up some laundry. Bathed the children.

Whew! What a day. 

Payton informed me that it was one of the best days ever. I thought that was sort of funny since we mostly cleaned all day but oh well. ;)

By the way, isn't that photo of Ethan just lovely? The little stinker does not like having his photo taken and he is not a good sport...at all. ha!

a new week. new projects. :)

I'm just home from spending a couple days out of town. We celebrated my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary yesterday. Such a good time with family. My cousins are so fun. Makes me wish we all lived closer so we could really hang out. Good stuff.

Yesterday the mid-month Garden went up at 2Peas.

I contributed another themed layout for the month (this month's theme is stitching).

One of my most used ways of using machine stitching for scrapbooking: attaching ribbons and trims. I used stitching to attach the scalloped velvet trim and to attach the ribbon for the sun (partially hidden behind the cloud).

Speaking of that cute cloud (and the raindrops too)...they are new digital download designs from Quickutz for the Silhouette. The umbrella is an older design. I cut the raindrops out of Doodlebug Sugar Coated paper. If you have the Silhouette, you can purchase a download card HERE and download these designs (and so many more). :)

Seasonal layouts go up mid-month as well.

my favorite stamping technique(s).

Like so many of you, I have more than one favorite technique but these are the two that I am really enjoying right now:

1. Embossing: Simple, easy and always gives a wow factor to any stamped project. :)

For this card, I used a background stamp (one of my very favorite kinds of stamp) and Versamark ink and then sprinkled on some white embossing powder.

2. Layering stamped images. I love the look of stamping the same design multiple times on a several different colors of papers and then cutting out all the different elements and layering them. Such a fun way to add a dimensional look.

I stamped this cute birthday stamp multiple times on different colors of cardstock/paper and then cut out the elements and layered them for this cute birthday card.

And I always feel like a stamped image needs a bit of embellishment to really make it "pop". I added some gems and a piece of ribbon and that is it. Simple, simple!

catching up.

Nothing has gone quite the way I thought this week.

Last week was a nightmare. too much to do + being really sick for 2 days = insanely stressed.

This week I think I just checked out. oops.

So much going on this week outside of the world of scrapping. Big birthdays. Brenden turned 10 on Wednesday and Grandpa Brent is 60 today. (I will share photos of those things when I get my Project 365 album pages scanned in here this weekend.) :) It's time to share more of those layouts, right? ;)

Yesterday I hung blinds. Lots and lots of blinds. 17 to be exact. I am quite handy. ;) And, no, we hadn't had blinds in any of those rooms since we moved in almost 16 months ago. How sad is that? I can't believe the difference it makes. Those rooms actually look good now. ha!

So back to the world of scrapbooking/stamping/etc.

The new Garden went live at 2Peas on the 1st. March's theme is "Stitching". One of my all time favorite things to do on layouts, cards, fabric...you name it, I love it. So very excited about this theme. :)

I am displaying this in a shadow box frame that I purchased from Pottery Barn several years ago. The colors I used match my home's decor so I wanted to enjoy this layout a bit before hiding it away in an album. ;)

I also did a layout focusing on New Product available in the 2Peas Store.

I chose to use the new Girl Friday papers from Cosmo Cricket. I just love the fun, bright colors.

My March Celebrate the Seasons class went live yesterday. This month's theme is "Lucky Me" with a focus on using some green on your layout.
