The Silhouette blog is focusing on their contributing artists monthly and this month, the featured artist is Cali Arroyo. You can read about Cali HERE and check out her lovely designs in the Silhouette store. :)
I played with a few of her designs in a couple of different projects.
First, this layout showcasing some of my favorite holiday decor from last year.
I resized my photos and created this photo collage in Photoshop (all photos are 2"x 2" or 2"x 4"). By resizing them and just using a small portion of each photo I was able to incorporate 13 photos on this single page layout.

- For the cute Chubby Reindeer (and be sure to check out Cali's designs because she has dozens of cute chubby characters & animals!) I used white SEI Velvet Paper to cut the inside of the reindeer's ears, the whites of the eyes and the nose. Then, instead of cutting the black part of the eyes out of cardstock, I sewed a couple of mismatched black buttons on. I always, always love the look of buttons on a project!
- I cut the reindeer's black nose and antlers out of cardstock but I wanted to add a little extra sparkle and shine (this is a holiday layout afterall!) so I added Stickles Black Diamond Glitter Glue to the nose and Stickles Copper Glitter Glue to the antlers.
- The flourish (both the positive and negative) were cut using the SEI Velvet Paper. I also used the red velvet paper to cut part of the title, "special".

My other project is something I created for Ethan's pre-school party at school today (to celebrate his 4th birthday). I made these treat bag toppers and realized that this cute dinosaur is Cali's design:
I die cut the frame for the top of the bag, I simply folded it in half and stapled it to the cello bag. I apologize but I can't get the number from the Silhouette site for some reason. I keep getting an error message. I will update as soon as I get it.

- I added a googly eye, a punched heart (stapled to the dino and embellished with tied string) to each dinosaur. Really simple but adds a nice touch of emellishment to the design.
- I love, love these dinosuar designs. If you follow my blog you will notice that I have used them before, on a Disney Animal Kingdom layout from THIS blog post (scroll down a bit).

And for even more fun I created these cupcake picks for the treats we're taking to class this afternoon:
For this guy I used the brontosaurus shape and cut two out for each pick, glued the front to the back, slipped the toothpick in between and embellished with a punched heart and googly eye. So simple but I can't even tell you how excited my little guy is about his treats!
