Ever since I found the snow globe shape in the Silhouette Store, all I can do is think of stamps that would look cute stamped inside.
I am obsessed.
But with good reason. (Or so I keep telling myself.)
With a couple of clicks of my mouse, a snow globe is cut. And you can resize it to fit almost any stamp/punch/shape you own!
With a press of my stamp, the snow globe is "filled".
Then comes the super fun part: embellishing.
Add some color with markers, inks and more and you can have a whole set of adorable snow globe cards like these!
I am in love with these three new stamps from Whiff of Joy. In love.
All three of these designs are brand new and will be available from the Whiff of Joy online store October 1st. (And I am assuming available from Simon Says Stamp really close to that date as well.) I will be sure to update links when they are available at Simon Says Stamp. :)
Here's how I made these cards:
First the penguin card:
I stamped the Whiff of Joy "Penguin's Winter Fun" image on the clear sheet that comes with the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the placement right on the die cut snow globe.
Then I stamped the image on the snow globe die cut using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (recommended for Copic coloring).
Time to start coloring.
I used the Copic Sketch Markers below to color in the penguins. Even though the body of the penguins is "white", the gray helps add shading and dimension to the "white" parts of the birds.
My favorite blues and greens for the one little guy. See how I forgot that part of his scarf right around his neck? Oops! I fixed that ...eventually.
Pinks and reds for the other penguin.
Browns for the sled.

Next, I needed a mask for the image so I used my favorite Inkadinkadoo Stamp Masking paper.
Then I used this awesome new Design Block stamp from Hero Arts and some Versamark Ink to add a background to my snow globe.
A little white embossing powder to really make the background "pop".
Add some of my favorite Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink over the embossed background and also over the additional "snow" die cut piece for the snow globe.
Remove the mask to reveal the adorable image.
Don't forget to check and make sure the entire mask came off. See that part on the scarf? Oops!
I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the greeting, from a new Whiff of Joy set, called "Season's Greetings".
I stamped it with Versamark and used white embossing powder on the gray die cut portion of the snow globe.
I wrapped some red/white baker's twine around the snow globe for a fun bit of texture and color.
Time for the background of the card.
I used the Canvas Stripe Design Block Stamp from Hero Arts, Pure Poppy Cardstock from PTI and Riding Hood Red Ink from Stampin' Up.
I cut the background to a 4" square.
Matted it on white and stitched around it.
Then I added the matted background to a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" square kraft card.
I thought the inside needed a little something. I used another greeting from the Whiff of Joy "Season's Greetings" set and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the placement perfect.
I used Prismacolor Color Pencils for the candy cane. (Markers would have gone through the cardstock to the back of the card.)
The next two cards were made the exact same way only using two additional new stamps from Whiff of Joy.
The Polar Bear Card:
Colors used for the bear. Again, white "white" is boring. The grays add lovely subtle shading that still give the illusion of "white".
Colors used for the rest of the image.
