For today's From Start to Finish layout + video I used something that I haven't used before: Studio Calico Mister Huey Mist Ink.
I am a little afraid of mists in general. I have used some once on a project for Creating Keepsakes (you can see that layout HERE) and while I loved the finished result, I just hadn't used them again...until now.
I am sort of in love with the SC Mister Huey Mists. I love the opaque colors and they way they instantly distress a cardstock background. I used mine very simply but there are all kinds of things you can do with them. I am sure I will using them lots more on future projects!
I grouped the embellishments to make a bigger impact on my page. I also used lots of older products from my stash. And from lots of different manufacturers.
Machine stitching adds detail plus "grounds" the random paper/punched strips to the layout.
I used Maggie Holmes Basic Vintage Photo Actions for my photos. I had originally changed them all to black and white but found that with my paper choices, it really didn't emphasize the photos. By using a vintage look, the photos really match the feel of the page.
