Awhile back I shared a sneak of the following layout in THIS post.
I created it for Shimelle's True Stories Class on her blog.
Shimelle's online classes are awesome.
The amount of work she puts into them is absolutely amazing. One of the best things about this class is that you can take this class at any time and it focuses on journaling and different ways to approach journaling. And let's face it: who doesn't want to be a better journaler? I know I do!
My journaling prompt/idea: writing a letter to my past self.
Yep, that little shy girl is me.
The photo info is printed on an October Afternoon label sticker. In case you haven't noticed: OA label stickers are my absolute favorite stickers...ever. I use them on almost every single layout I make.
A small cluster of embellishments (brads and a punched butterfly) help "ground" the printed tag to the page so it isn't just "floating".
The embellishments were kept simple:
- a tag tucked under the paper strip.
- a Basic Grey Bloomers sticker added to the paper strip
I like to create clusters of embellishments. Keeps the eye focused in on the story you want to tell.
I used Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards stamps on the journaling page. They help tell the story plus when stamped in color, like they are here, they match the mood and feel of the page and serve as additional embellishment/design.
I highly recommend checking out Shimelle's class if you want some fantastic ideas on recording better stories about your life. The information she shares and PDF handouts will be a reference tool that can be used over and over and over again to help improve your journaling skills.
