It's a busy day today. Not only will Stampin' Fun Friday be live here after while but I have the Weekly Challenge over at Two Peas this week!
I am a big fan of challenges.
I think they jumpstart creativity or give you an idea you may not have previously thought of. Even though the idea of recording a month in review layout is not new by any means (I shared quite a few of them last year, myself) I hadn't used these KI Memories Calendar Pages before and I love them.
This week's challenge is to create an "in review" type layout.
Whether it be a month in review like I did here or a year or week, etc. I want to see your pages! Upload your page to the 2peas gallery and check the mark next to this challenge.
These Ki Memories calendar's specify that each square is 1.25" (the circle calendar's are 1").
To start my layout, I resized approximately 30 photos to 1.25" square in photoshop. Then click and dragged each one to a new document and printed them out on a single 8.5x11" sheet of photo paper.
Then I took an EK Success square punch (1.25") and punched each out. Super fast and easy.
To create the stamped border along the top of the calendar, I used one of the new 2011 Hero Arts stamps and a Stamp-a-ma-jig to get perfect placement with the wood block stamp.
Love the Stamp-a-ma-jig.
Love Hero Arts stamps. How cute is that parade of children?
Fun, fun, fun!
I stamped the border 3x along the top.
I also laid out the photos to see if I liked the placement before adhering each.
I die cut the title using this design from the Silhouette Online Store:

Then I added some Cosmo Cricket sticker so complete my title.
A punched border and a thin patterned paper strip finish the top of the layout.
For any square that I didn't adhere a photo to, I punched a 1.25" circle from patterned paper and adhered it to the calendar. Then I added stickers, punched shapes and flower brads.
I printed the journaling on a sheet of cardstock and adhered it along the bottom of the page.
I finished the embellishing with a star pin tied with a pretty ribbon.

For additional ideas on creating months in review style layouts here is a list of other layouts I created.
2010 Month in Review Layouts
I am currently working on more of these style of pages. I really love them and have a list of other ideas I would like to try. I think it's fun to look back on these.
Here are some additional ideas for creating "in review" style pages:
- birthdays (consider covering you or your child's birthdays spanning a certain time)
- year in review
- favorite photos from (i.e. 2010) in review
- week in review
- vacation in review
- holiday season in review (maybe you don't do a mini album (i.e. December Daily or Journal Your Christmas) and prefer scrapbook layotus. I think this would be a really fun way to document the season!
Have a super weekend!
Stay tuned for today's Stampin' Fun Friday...
