I thought this week I would mix it up a little and share something that I have been getting multiple requests for:
2 page layouts
So far in this series I've only been sharing ideas on one-page layouts (that just happens to be what I've been in the mood for and the direction my photos have taken me). However, I go in phases and enjoy 2-page layouts just as much as one-pagers.
When creating a 2-page layout I always find it helpful to look at it as a 24x12 format (because I generally scrap 12x12) instead of 2 individual 12x12 pages. This way I am looking at the design as a whole and how I can make the entire design cohesive and flow nicely. I always lay out 2 pieces of 12x12 cardstock side by side (even if I don't end up using the cardstock as the base of my layout) and start adding elements from there.
For today's page I wanted to use larger photos for this birthday layout featuring my youngest son turning 1. All the photos are 3.5x5" with a thin white border. By using a 2-page design I was able to incorporate the larger photos and still have plenty of room for a larger title, patterned paper strips, journaling and embellishment without the page appearing too busy or cluttered.
By slanting the photos slightly and adding torn pieces of mixtape to the top of each it gives the very linear layout a more fun and playful feel.
I used stamping and heat embossing from the February Scrapbook Stamping class HERE to add a little stamping to my layout. I stamped one phrase along the left side of the page and embossed it with American Crafts Zing Opaque Leaf and Chestnut embossing powders.
I also stamped another phrase on the orange punched circle and embossed it with American Crafts Zing Rouge Opaque Embossing Powder.
For my title I used a couple of die cut designs from Silhouette America:

I cut each word twice, once from patterned paper and once from white cardstock. I layered the patterned paper word over the white cardstock one and adhered them over the photos.
A couple of October Afternoon stickers finish off the title.
I layered a couple of die cuts (Jenni Bowlin and Creative Cafe) with a punched circle. I printed the journaling on the Creative Cafe die cut.

I also wanted to thank everyone who left me comments on THIS blog post/facebook/twitter regarding a few minor blog changes. My blog readers support, kindness and words of encouragement truly humble me. I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to share my creative journey with so many friends worldwide. I think it's incredible just how many of us share so many similar hobbies and interests. Everyone's comments made me smile. Truly a treasure to read each and every one. Thank you.
I want to give a little shout out to my good friend, Kerri Bradford, who has an incredible new kit available for purchase on her blog.
It contains dozens of designs for digital/hybrid scrappers plus die cut files. Check it out HERE.
Have a fabulous day!
