Welcome to the Lily Pad Cards Friday blog hop!
This blog hop started on Monday, March 28th and has featured seven blogs per day culminating today, Friday, April 1, with the grand opening of Lily Pad Cards. Lily Pad Cards is a new challenge blog that will feature interviews, articles, videos, challenges, great prizes, and more!
Be sure to check out the three prize packages with a total retail value of over $800 - including a $100 gift certificate to a very popular online store! Go here for specific prize details and contest rules.
The hop’s theme is Welcome because not only are we welcoming Lily Pad Cards to the neighborhood, but we’re also welcoming all of you to come in and join in all the fun.
I have a couple of cards to share with you today, both featuring a version of the same technique plus a little video tutorial. :)
Here’s my first card, featuring this sweet little kitty welcoming you with an old-fashioned hello!
I love coloring animals with the feathering technique for a more realistic look. Once colored, I masked off the kitty and airbrushed the circle using B000 copic marker. I die cut the doily using a new Spellbinder's die and I airbrushed the edges with some of the red markers. The background was stamped with the Hero Arts Just Saying Hi stamp set (the old fashioned telephone) and white ink. I die cut the banner using the Papertry Ink Double Ended banner die and added the greeting from the same Hero Arts stamp set.

For my second card, I created a fun forest scene using Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Forest, Critters in the Burbs and Bannerific Stamp Sets.
I used a simplified feathering technique on the cute Lawn Fawn raccoon. There is still a bit of feathering to resemble "fur" or texture but with a clean line stamp like this I blended the colors a bit more than in the first card. I stamped all the pieces on cardstock and cut them out or colored and cut them out then I assembled the scene on a die cut label (Sizzix Stampin' Up Top Note die). I embossed the label first using Papertrey Ink's Woodgrain Impression Plate. The background of the card was stamped using Hero Arts Word Pops background cling stamp and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Rustic twine, cute googly eyes and three punched hearts finish this simple card. :)

GIVEAWAY TIME!
How about trying out your copic coloring skills on these adorable critters from Lawn Fawn's new Critters in the Forest Stamp Set?!!
The feathering technique can also be used to color other stamped images: I used the feathering technique on the pine tree in this set on THIS card.
Leave me a comment here by Sunday, April 3rd, 11:59 a.m. I'll post the winner Sunday evening.
Good luck!
