"Baby Shower" for Heidi at Simon Says Stamp!

I love participating in blog hops. And blog hops with good friends celebrating the birth of a new baby? Even better.

A few of us wanted to honor a very dear friend with a little baby card goodness in lieu of the birth of her daughter. So happy for you and your family Heidi! xo

I decided I wanted to go very tone on tone with my card with lots of pink, girly touches. And layers. I love the look of layers. ;)

I created the card base from Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush cardstock and stamped the background with the Hero Arts Line Dot Cling Stamp using CTMH Blush Ink.

I die cut the doily using the MFT Die-namics die. This die is quickly becoming a favorite. It's so detailed, feminine and pretty.

I punched a circle to fit inside the doily's center and embossed it with a PTI Impression Plate.

The MFT Polka Dot Greetings stamps and die set is another favorite. Been using it on so many cards lately. I die cut the label from Neenah cardstock, then stamped the frame with SU Pink Pirouette Ink and stamped the greeting with SU Basic Gray Ink. I added Glossy Accents to the polka dots for subtle dimension and texture.

I finally got to play with this darling Belles & Whistles image. I just adore the sweet little chubby arms and legs on this one. I purposely used soft, muted Copic colors. Then I cut the image out and popped it and the MFT stamped frame up on pop dots. 

Random ribbons from my stash and PTI Sweet Blush buttons complete the card.

From Start to Finish | Grade K (Kindergarten in Review Layout)

Here at the Magouirk house, we are celebrating the end of the school year! With summer quickly approaching (and yet another school year will be here before we know it) I decided to get serious about getting my kid's school albums caught up. I made a list of what I want to include, gathered up their memorabilia and photos and I'm getting to work! 

This week's layout showcases 15 photos from my oldest son's first year of school. Instead of scrapping each individual event, I chose to incorporate some of my favorite photos on this 2-page spread. 

I used one of the die cut shapes from Kerri Bradford's new School Years Digi Die Cut Kit (linked below) for my title. My plan is to include a similar page/title for each year of school. The corresponding "kindergarten" title will be used for the title page where I will scrap his school photo for the year.

I die cut the shapes from patterned paper and cardstock, then layered a 3" punched patterned paper circle and vellum circle underneath. It anchors the die cut design to the page and keeps the background of the layout from being distracting. October Afternoon rubons give the design a completed look.

I also used a design from Kerr's new Escape Digi Die Cut Kit (linked below) for the journaling block. I die cut the design from both patterned paper and cardstock. See how the bracket's patt. paper slightly differs from the word "observation"? I did that on purpose to add interest but not introduce more color on a very colorful layout. It is the reverse side of the same paper! Easy. :)

More October Afternoon rubons. They add interest and support the theme of the design.

I love journaling sheets. Here I used a couple of older designs from my stash. Not only do they add texture, layers and interest to the page but they offer a place to include additional details. I customized the one journaling page with Lawn Fawn Alphabet Stamps, an October Afternoon rub-on and a mini clip.

That Kerri Bradford... + a GIVEAWAY

...is amazing.

Seriously, she is incredibly talented and above all an incredible friend. :)

I casually mentioned to her yesterday that sometime (perhaps this fall) I would love to see a digi die cut kit with titles of each grade in school to keep a consistency when scrapping school layouts for kids' school albums.

And do you know what that stinker did?

 She went and created the kit already!

Is she the best or what?!!!!

Not only are these designs perfect for all those vacation/summer vacation photos but so many of these could be used for anything. "Summer Escape" could be a great title for a layout featuring the books you (or your child) reads this summer. "Observations" could be literally used for anything. I'm thinking it would make a great title to sum up a child's school year on a layout. "Right Here" and "1 Fabulous Day" are other titles that would work for so many different types of layouts. Storyboards #4 (8.5x11 style)

I am a huge fan of Kerri's Storyboards. Huge. If you are an 8.5x11 scrapbooker.... GET these! If you are a 12x12 scrapbooker.... GET these! For the 12x12 scrappers like me, I'll tell you why: Consider printing out your storyboard and slapping it on a 12x12 page with a die cut title (see kits above) and a strip of journaling OR scrapbook your 12x12 page with a couple of your favorite photos and then create a storyboard with the rest of the photos from the event that you may not want to/have time to scrap, slip it in an 8.5x11 sheet protector and include it in your album next to the scrapbooked layout. Easy, fun and adds interest to your scrapbooks!

Lawn Fawn | May Inspiration Week (Cruising Through Life)

It's time for another stamped card share during Lawn Fawn's May Inspiration Week, ending with the introduction of this quarter's nine new stamp sets on Thursday, May 19th!

Today's card features these fun stamped pinwheels from the new Lawn Fawn Stamp Set, Cruising Through Life and given "movement" with brads.

I used Papertrey Ink's Edgers Die Cut Collection #1 for the pretty scallop along the bottom of the card and layers.

I stamped the star design (LF Teeny Tiny Backdrops) on the Harvest Gold Cardstock (PTI) using Crushed Curry Ink (SU). Then I stamped the dashed border (LF Bon Voyage) on New Leaf Cardstock (PTI) using Garden Green Ink (SU). A layer of vellum embossed 1/8" from each side softens the background.

I stamped the pinwheels (LF Cruising Through Life) six times (3x with the "stems") and colored each in with Copics (listed in supply list below). I cut each image out and adhered the single pinwheels (without stems) with a brad. I adhered each pinwheel to the card then stamped the greeting (LF Cruising Through Life) to a die cut banner (PTI) using Frost White Ink, securing with the Tiny Attacher.

From Start to Finish | Love You More Than You Know

For this week's From Start to Finish layout I wanted to show how to create a one-of-a-kind stamped embellishment colored in with Copic Markers for a scrapbook layout. 

Copics + stamping are super popular in cardmaking and I want to show how you can use these markers on scrapbook layouts as well. 

For the flower, I first stamped the image on smooth white cardstock (make sure the cardstock you're using is preferred for Copic coloring. I used my favorite Neenah Solar White Cardstock.) using Memento Ink (also a preferred ink for Copic coloring). Then I stamped the Hero Arts Ledger background stamp over the entire thing to give it a more "natural" look instead of a stamped image on plain white paper. This makes it look more like an image cut from a floral patterned paper, etc. I colored the image in with Copics, outlining the flower with C1 Cool Gray for a subtle shadow and then used a Coluzzle to cut it in a circle shape before mounting on additional patterned paper circle and sewing to my layout. 

I used Kerri Bradford's On The Edge digi die cut kit to cut a notebook edge on this 6x6 piece of Basic Grey Ledger paper. Then I ran the paper through my printer adding the journaling and stamped "love you" from Ali Edwards's Love Always Wins Stamp Set using Chewing Gum Ink (Jenni Bowlin). I love highlighting certain words in journaling by adding stamped text.

The photos are 4x6 & 3x4. 

I sewed Doodlebug buttons over parts of the paper strip border beneath the photos. I did the same thing on THIS layout I shared on Monday. I love repeating techniques when it's something that worked really well. Because I don't scrap chronologically, the chances of two layouts that look similar or that have a similar technique landing side by side in an album is not very likely. 

The repeating "love you" border was stamped with another image from Ali's Love Always Wins Stamp Set. I used a sheet of smooth 12x12 white cardstock to stamp the border. I find that you get a much crisper, cleaner image with smooth cardstock opposed to textured cardstock.

Colorful layers, stamping and embellishments complete the layout.

Lawn Fawn | May Inspiration Week (Bon Voyage)

It's time for another stamped card share during Lawn Fawn's May Inspiration Week, ending with the introduction of this quarter's nine new stamp sets on Thursday, May 19th!

Today I have a banner shaped card, using Lawn Fawn's new Bon Voyage Stamp Set.

I created the card base from Rustic White Cardstock (PTI) with a banner shaped die (PTI). It's a single banner, to make it into a card, I made sure to score my cardstock in half and position it slightly lower than the die cut line on the die, then I ran it through the Sizzix Big Shot. By doing this, it didn't cut the top of the card, leaving me with a banner shaped card to use as my background.

I ran through New Leaf Cardstock (PTI) the slightly smaller banner die shape (PTI) and then used the Book Print Impression Plate (PTI) to get the embossed look. I used a white pen to add faux stitching to the green cardstock piece.

I die cut the Rustic White Cardstock with the Banner Borders Die (PTI) and added thin cardstock strips (Pure Poppy & Harvest Gold PTI Cardstock) to the top of the die cut before adhering with foam adhesive. A button (Doodlebug) with Green Apple Twine finish the top of the card.

I stamped the clouds (LF Bon Voyage) on white cardstock (Neenah) using Pacific Point Ink (Stampin' Up). Then I stamped the small heart background (LF Teeny Tiny Backdrops) over the cards using Marina Mist Ink (SU).

The airplane (LF Bon Voyage), banner (LF Bannerific) and greeing (LF Sophie's Sentiments) were stamped on white cardstock (Neenah) using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics (individual colors listed in supply list below). I cut out the banner and plane and adhered the entire scene using foam adhesive.
