For some reason boy birthday cards are some of the hardest ones for me to make. Maybe it's because I tend to gravitate more towards girly flowery cards or maybe up until lately my stash of boy-themed product and stamps was sorely lacking. Well, not any longer! I have slowly but surely been building up my boy-related product stash and mostly that's been due to Papertrey Ink!
Several months ago, PTI had a month where they focused on the boys and men in our life with their stamp release and now I have been creating masculine cards easily!
Two of my nephews celebrated birthdays earlier this month and my 1 year old nephew got THIS card that I created for Lawn Fawn a few months back and my 10 year old nephew got this card:
For the background I stamped a piece of Hero Arts Azure layering paper with the Graph Background Design Block Stamp using Stampin' Up Pacific Point Ink. Then I stamped the frame from PTI Framed Stamp Set using Memories Black Ink. Then I added some grunge using PTI's Grunge Me Stamp Set and Colorbox Frost White Ink. I love the way the frost white ink looks on the bright blue background.
To give the video game controller stamped image (PTI Boy Basics Game On) a little more dimension, I stamped the image three times: once in SU Real Red, once in SU Daffodil Delight and once in SU Pacific Point Ink. Using a small circle punch, I punched out parts of the design and layered them on one of the video game controller stamped images.
I die cut the Mat Stack 3 die from kraft cardstock and stamped it with a coordinating stamp using Frost White Ink. I stamped the video game controller on the card using Memories Black Ink and adhered the die cut to the card as shown.
I die cut the Ad Sense die from Rustic White cardstock and stamped the coordinating stamp with SU Real Red Ink and the greeting with SU Soft Suede Ink, then adhered this layer to the card.
Finally I finished by cutting out the video game controller, adding gems and adhering it to the card.
A little stamping on the inside of the card is the perfect finishing touch!
