May Studio AE from Technique Tuesday Blog Hop

It's that time again... time for another Studio AE Blog Hop!

This month's stamp set is Simple Joy by Ali Edwards (May Studio AE) stamp set.

I've got a couple of projects for you this month!

First up, a non-traditional sized layout:

This page is 6x12 and is an insert for this week's Project Life spread. It was a small version of Ali's "Day in the Life" concept. Just a little insert to show what an ordinary everyday is like here at the Magouirk house. :)

I used a photo template by Kerri Bradford (included in supply list below) to create this adorable photobooth style photo strips.

I mixed in lots of the phrase stamps from this month's Studio AE stamp set using Stampin' Up inks in several colors.

I printed some journaling directly on the 6x12 sheert of paper.

I combined this month's stamps with some other stamps, washi tape and minimal embellishments. Easy, fun and something I can definitely see doing periodically to show our everyday life.

Next, I created yet more journlaing cards for my Project Life album. I love having custom stamped cards on hand ready for journaling like I did HERE and HERE.

I combined this month's Studio AE stmaps with some Studio Calico stamps for these fun, colorful and custom PL journaling cards.

I used a stamp from one of Ali's other stamp sets here with one from this month's set:

These journaling cards will be making an appearance in my PL album soon!

Weekend Sewing Projects

I have offiically caught the sewing bug.

I have been collecting fabric for awhile now in the hopes that one of these days I would actually get a chance to use it. Now, that my big classes and projects for the spring are finished I took a little time over the weekend to sew up some projects that I am so excited about!

First up, are these adorable ruffled towels:

The minute I saw these on Sweetwater's Blog HERE I was smitten and waited patiently tapping my foot refreshing nonstop until they had the kits up in their Etsy Store HERE. I bought 3 kits, requesting one of each color because they are just too pretty and summery for words. The original kits are sold out (waiting on the shipment for their newest fabric line, Lucy's Crab Shack, to be in stock but you can pre-order these kits HERE. They come with the towels, twill, fabric and instructions to make these ruffled lovelies!

And, by the by, I will be buying up as much of this line as I can afford to make all kinds of yummy sewn goodness for our home. This line is perfect, perfect for summer, boys, pretty much anything! You guys know me and color, I love it in my patterned paper and I love it in my fabric. :)

I grabbed up THIS kit as fast as possible too. And THIS one as well. Wouldn't it be great for the 4th of July? The one made from Lucy's Crab Shack is sold out but is available for pre-order as well. Or you can pick up the pattern HERE and make it out of whatever fabric you like!

I am thinking coordinating placemats and napkins are in order. I love the look of a table set with placemats and cloth napkins (plus I try to use cloth napkins as much as possible since they are more environmentally friendly and I am usually less than impressed with the offerings in stores. Love making my own!).

One little last thing I started on Saturday...

I am using THIS tutorial from the Moda Bake Shop BLOG and pretty much following the directions. I am a huge fan of the Vintage Modern fabric line (okay I am a huge fan of all of the Bonnie & Camille fabric collections and I have quite the stash going!) and I wanted to make a throw and some pillows for our family room using this line. I got most of the front of the quilt pieced together (the excpetion is the 4 white borders) but I ran out of solid white fabric for the borders and the backing so I needed to order more. I have big plans for having my ideas all come together. I'll keep sharing and updating as my little makeover the family room project progresses....

KBS | Seriously (a layout)

We're celebrating National Scrapbook Day all week long over at Kerri Bradford's Site HERE. Each day there is a FREE download (for that day only and special savings on Kerri's kits).

And today's FREE download: it was the first thing that popped into my head... might be because I was using my Grey's Anatomy coffee mug that day but we say "seriously?" all the time around here and I thought it would be a fun addition to page layouts. ;) Get it HERE.

My layout (and by the by, these photos of my youngest seriously crack me up. He is a little comedian, that one.)

I combined elements from several of Kerri's kits (listed in the supply list below) for my layout. I love mixing a couple of titles/phrases together for a completely custom page title.

The arrows are stamped images from Studio Calicio/Hero Arts stamp sets. I love to repeat elements (in this case arrows) on my page designs.

Close up of journlaing printed on a Crate Paper Story Teller sticker. I love label stickers. Just sayin'.

A little sticker + badge action going on right over the photo template. I like to make sure and "jazz up" the photo templates so the page design doesn't seem too "embellishment" heavy on one side.

Project Life 2012 | Week Twelve

Two days in a row! Whoohoo!

I did cheat a bit. Most of this page was already finished. Just needed to add one journaling card and finish my title.

I used lots of custom stamped journaling cards from THIS post and also THIS post. I love seeing these pieces mixed into my PL album.

Week Twelve:

Left Side Close up:

I added an Ormolu tag with a Stampin' Up clip to my title card. Simple.

All custom stamped journaling and filler cards this week. Love that.

Right Side Close Up:

More custom stamped journaling cards and I printed the screenshot of the movie poster from imdb.com.

Finished this 4x6 pocket like I did for week eleven HERE where I used the cut apart journaling cards from 12x12 sheets of paper. Thinking I really, really love this concept. Will be doing this more.

Project Life 2012 | Week Eleven (finally!)

Yep, I am still plugging away on Project Life. Just a few weeks behind with putting it all together and sharing.

Here's my week 11:

A closer look at the left side:

Lots (and lots!) of stamping on my journaling cards again. I love all the fabulous stamps available that work so well for journaling of any kind, whether it be Project Lilfe or a traditional scrapbook page.

I used Ormolu tags this week stapled on some of the photos.

I had several photos I wanted to share for Sunday so I used a photo template by Kerri Bradford to fit 6 photos in a 4x6 pocket!

Stamping my own journaling cards really personalizes my album.

Closer look at the right side:

I used a couple of 4x6 pieces from 12x12 sheets of paper to fill in the 4x6 pockets. Instead of cutting the pieces into 3x4 journlaing cards, I left 2 together for a 4x6 piece. Simple and easy.
