I am thrilled to be the June Guest Designer for Bella Blvd. When it comes to bright, colorful, graphic, whimsical patterned paper, Bella Blvd nails it. Some of my all time favorite patterned papers come from their Family Dynamix and Sunny Happy Skies collections. And they do the cutest cloud papers! I loved playing with some of the newest Bella Blvd Collections for my GD projects. For my first layout, I chose to go with a summer theme using mostly pieces from the Sunshine & Happiness Collection. I threw in a few pieces from other collections too but not much.
This layout is a re-do from an old, old 2-page layout that really shouldn't have been 2 pages. Because I had cropped one of the photos into a 3.5" circle shape and it wasn't going to be easy to remedy since these photos were taken on with a film camera during the dinosaur pre-digial days, I wanted to find a way to incorporate the circle photo without having to dig through my film and get a re-print. Since I am so fabric/sewing crazy right now, I thought it would be kind of fun to create a quilt like design using my photos, patterned paper and stickers. I cropped 2 of the photos to 4x4 and cropped one of the additional photos into another 3.5" circle, creating this "quilt block" design. The triangle photo corner stickers added to the quilt look.
Bella Blvd's cardstock stickers are some of my favorites. I love the bright, whimsical designs! I layered a couple of thought bubble stickers and added twine and popped up the banner stickers for my page title.
I layered cardstock stickers, a chipboard sticker and a cut-out cloud for my page accent.

For my second layout, I also re-did an older layout, not because I didn't like the old layout but because I had used really thin paper as my background (old style patterned paper that wasn't cardstock weight) and then I had created a title with metal letters and pieces that were popular about 7-8 years ago and now I hate the bulk and how they are destroying my albums. And my layout was literally ripped and falling apart. :( Lesson learned: use good paper for your layout base!
Anyhow, the new Baby Girl collection from Bella Blvd is perfect for these photos! And really, the "B" side (and several of the "A" sides) of many of these papers would work for anything. I used the light pink polka dot on the summer page above!
I really love that I have these photos and this story. Even though the photos are not the best, this is something I want to remember forever. My baby girl with her blankies. :)
I wanted to go with the soft pink monochromatic color scheme here. I added some white cardstock to help ground the layout and several shades of pink for interest.
FYI: Ignore the bad print job on the quote bubble sticker. I usually am so careful but it was late and I was tired and I totally boogered up my print job. I was SO upset! :( I tried to find a replacement sticker but I couldn't find anything that was remotely similar in color or design so.... I ordered another sticker sheet. It wasn't here in time for this post but rest assured that I will be fixing it ASAP!
I used a die cut title design from Kerri Bradford. To keep with the monochromatic color scheme I cut the title from similar patterned papers and then from gray cardstock to layer behind as a "shadow". This helps the title stand out from the background.
To create the fun accent, I cut the elephant from the border strip paper and popped him up with foam adhesive. I tucked some of Bella Blvd's banners behind the trunk so it appears the elephant is holding the banners in his trunk! Fun!

My final project today is a Father's Day card for a grandfather. Father's Day will be here before I know it and I always like to have cards for the kids to give to their grandpa's as well as their dad. :)
This card was super quick and easy to put together. I trimmed down the title block to fit my standard sized card and drew stitched lines along the top.
For the background, I trimmed scraps of paper and border strips, notching one end with a square punch, for a colorful flag/banner background. I added the title and tucked some stickers under the top and bottom edges, tied some twine around the card and I was finished!
