Happy 4th of July to my fellow American friends and followers! I hope that you all have enjoyed a wonderful day whatever you are doing this holiday.
I was able to spend some time in between swimming and cooking to just play with my stamps.

I took this sketch that I jotted down last night before bed...
...and made this:
It's almost completely created with stamps + die cuts.
My 2 most favoritest things.
ever.
This whole project started with the Papertrey Ink flip flop stamps + matching dies. They are the cutest. And the phrases would make adorable cards however I wanted to stretch the stamps a bit and use them for a scrapbook layout accent.
I knew I needed something to make the flip flops appear to be "clipped" to the string but I just didn't have a single thing in my stash small enough to work. I thought about just cutting super thin strips of black cardstock and folding them into clips but after remembering I had THIS punch, I used it and used the little punched out pieces as my "clips" by folding them in half and gluing them in place with Glossy Accents. Just another way to use the scraps from a punch!
But my red, white & blue flip flops needed the perfect background and THIS is my favorite background of the moment. I love it. To see it in use on a card, click HERE. After stamping and misting, I added a subtle text background for even more texture!
I layered a stamped "sun" from an older SC/HA set over the top and added another stamped and circle punched accent to the center (PTI).
The stamped border is from THIS new stamp set by SC & HA.... another new must have! I colored in the title with stamp markers after stamping the banner in black.
I added some ribbon, trims, a tiny stamped tag and mixed and matched PTI phrase/greeting stamps to finish the design.
This little gem will be making it's way onto a scrapbook layout ASAP!

First thing on tomorrow's agenda: operation clean up the ol' studio. If you don't hear from me send in a search party!

How about a sneak peek of something I'm working on to share?
I'm working on a little inspiration board piece for my office wall featuring Studio Calico Mister Huey mists. Hoping to be able to share this within the next day or so. I'm so excited about this!

Our kids (and many, many adults according to my husband's Facebook) are super bummed that our county and all surrounding counties have banned fireworks of any kind this year due to the extremely dry weather + wind + spark = wildfires or house fires or just fires. However, I am grateful to those who had to make this difficult decision that's in the best interest of our community and the surrounding communities. It may be disappointing but let's give our firefighters a break and follow the rules. Chad spoke to one this morning who hadn't been to bed yet.... he'd been putting out fires all night long. It's for our safety and our property's safety. And if someone would let my neighbors on the street behind me know that setting off sparkler "bombs" at 3 a.m. isn't cool I would appreciate it! ha!
Wishing everyone a very safe and wonderful holiday evening!
