August Studio AE from Technique Tuesday Blog Hop @TechniqueTuesday

Welcome to the August Studio AE Blog Hop!

This month's stamp set is Love This Memory by Ali Edwards.

I love the whimsical, non-perfect circles and phrases in this stamp set.  It includes fabulous love themed phrases great for everyday layouts and projects. I am a big, big fan of being able to use my stamps for any page. Not just seasonal or theme-specific stamped projects. 

My goal for this page was to use a bunch of old random photos and get them in my daughter's scrapbook. Anymore, I am all for creating pages that include lots of photos that maybe didn't have a particular event or wouldn't really "carry" a page all on their own, grouping them together and using them all on a page. I still love the photos and especially the memories and I want them included in an album. 

My title is a design from the Silhouette Store by Loni Stevens. I cut it from kraft cardstock and instead of using the positive image, I used the negative and backed it with cardstock and patterned papers to make it "pop" off the page.

I set up my journaling on my computer and printed it out before adhering any of the dimensional embellishments to my page (I used a wide format printer so my 12x12 page had no trouble going through). If you have a narrow printer, try just sending a strip of paper through using the "landscape" setting. :)

I used number stickers right on my photos to coordinate back to the journaling.

I stamped several of this month's images on Neenah smooth white cardstock using Stampin' Up inks, then I cut them out with scissors and adhered them to my page with some punched butterflies.

Monochromatic patterned papers are staples in my scrapbooking collection. They go with anything and everything and they are perfect for die cutting! I picked up the 12x12 sheets and the 6x6 paper pad(s). The 6x6 sheets are my favorite for using in my Silhouette Cameo!

I always tell myself that I really don't need any more Christmas themed patterned paper but I just can't resist when the patterns are this cute and user friendly!!! Besides, many of the "B" sides (backsides) of the patterned papers don't scream "holiday!" and could be used for anything!

THIS stocking paper is my fav from this line....

I love the birds, trees and color/design of THIS one. Plus the backside is GREAT too!

I have a thing for snowflake patterned paper (and the "B" side of THIS one is awesome too)....

And THIS houses paper is adorable!

Summer Themed Thank You Cards + Weekend Shopping Links

I thought I'd share a new card with you today. :)

I was in need of a couple of summer/swim related thank you cards. One for Payton's head swim coach and one for our dear family friends who took Payton to the Division II's meet while Chad and I were out of town. I have gift certificates for each card as a small way of saying "thank you" to these amazing friends.

I wanted the cards to reflect summer and swimming and naturally that included my favorite sunshine background stamp (available HERE and HERE) and also my favorite summer footwear themed stamp set from Papertrey Ink (available HERE).

The background was created by stamping the starburst background on Neenah white cardstock and layering Studio Calico Taxi and then Sunshine mist on top and letting it dry.

I then trimmed down and layered this on dark gray cardstock before adhering to a white card base.

The waves were cut using a wave shape from the Silhouette Online Store (design 1846). I cut 3 from two sheets of 6x6 Echo Park patterned paper.

I die cut all the rest of the pieces from Neenah white cardstock and stamped them with the coordinating PTI stamps using Stampin' Up Inks.

I stamped the large greeting using black ink. I left the last line of the phrase off as I felt this particular card didn't need it. I was careful to only ink the top portion of the stamp when inking. I added another greeting by stamping directly on the wave near the bottom right corner.

I finished the card by stamping an additional greeting on the inside of the card:

If you are reading the comments and wondering why some responded as they did (i.e. braces or talk of a tv show, etc.), I want to say that I deleted all personal journaling from my original post with regards to what my family and I were up to this past week after receiving a negative and rude comment from a reader.

KBS | A Dog's Life layout

I absolutely love the new A Dog's Life kit from Kerri Bradford Studio. Being a dog owner myself, this is perfect for pet themed layouts. I grabbed a couple of old photos of my husband and I's first pet, a little Bichon named Kramer. He was our first "baby" and the title, "Outside? I don't think so." couldn't describe his personality any better. He definitely thought he was a human and NOT a dog. I love that one photo is of he (and my in-law's poodle) wanting back in from the cold snow and one is of him peering out the front door from the inside of the house. :) Seeing that we lost him awhile back it felt good to get these pictures out and scrap some good memories. 

Kits used:

• A Dog's Life (doghouse, bone, title, dog dish)
• Here Comes Santa Claus (sign)
• This & That Family (sign post, instant frame)
• This & That Autumn (fence)

I went with a lot of woodgrain patterned papers to give the doghouse and fence a more realistic look. And added some stamping too. Because what's a layout without a bit of inky goodness? ;)

Except for the cloud patterned paper, I used all 6x6 papers from paper pads. Love the small size and the ability to cut several patterns with one run through the Cameo. ;)

This frame die cut is one of my most used KBS die cuts. And out of woodgrain paper.... love. I knew I wanted to use 3 frames but I only had 2 photos. That third frame was just the spot to add my journaling.
