Springtime holiday decorating....ah color...how I've missed you!
I have had this vase die forever. I've had all these plans and I've just put it off and put it off and never got around to using it! Well, the March 2013 Card Kit was screaming for me to showcase the colorful spring-like Lawn Fawn papers and SSS paper straws! Straws make good flower stems, right?!
Not only does this ensemble make a great home decor item on it's own, but grouped with other small spring decor items inside a glass cloche makes for a stunning display! Mine is currently brightening up the mantle in our family room.
VIDEO HOW TO
I covered the Sizzix Mat Board with some older Dear Lizzy fabric paper before running it through my Big Shot. I love the texture the fabric paper gives this cute vase. Dressing up the vase with ribbons and a button adorned with twine help balance the vase. With so much going on up top it tends to make the piece a bit "top heavy". Adding the natural colored "grass" to the vase gives that realistic effect that makes this piece just come together.
The only stamp used in this little project... "hello spring" from the March card kit: stamped and embossed on a die cut banner. I wrapped it around one of the paper straws and secured it with the Tiny Attacher.
I love resin flowers. Really love them. However they are bulky so they don't get to see a lot of action on my cards and scrapbook pages. They are perfect for home decor though!
fyi: sorry for the glass glare in the photos!
Grouping paper crafted home decor with other dimensional seasonal decor items really helps tie it all together. I grouped my project with some speckled eggs, bottle brush chicks and rafia inside a glass cloche on a mercury stand on my mantle.
I love decorating with glass cloches. Click HERE to see my Valentine's cloche.
I think I'm going to make seasonal cloche decorating a regular feature here. It's addicting!
