I've got several projects to share today!

First, a super bright and easy card I created for my daughter (to give her before cheerleading tryouts tomorrow). Neon color and the polka dot border stamp from the April Kit of the Month created this fun and bright background. I created the balloons out of the circle die and stamps from the Circle Friends Stamp Set and the "tie" on the balloons with the tiny, tiny heart from the Happy Everyday Stamp Se (stamped upside down in black). A little baker's twine gives dimension to this simple but happy card.

FYI: The bit of black you see on each balloon is actually another circle die cut from black cardstock to give the balloons a bit of dimension and to help them "pop" off the background.

And what's a great card without a great envelope?!!! The new Envelope Sentiments Stamp Set is extraordinary! My new favorite. Not only is it great for embellishing envelopes but you can use it for lots of other paper crafted projects too!

Kelly Purkey's stamp sets are great for scrapbookers and project lifers. I created this set of project life cards that I'll show you in action a bit later this week! ;) The line(s) stamp from the Envelope Sentiments Stamp Set is perfectly sized to create your own custom lined journaling cards!

Finally, here's a card created using shades of blues/grays. I used the Square Sayings Stamp Set and coordinating die to die cut a bunch of rounded white squares and then I added color using the heart square stamp and lots of gorgeous Hero Arts shadow and mid-tone inks. I combined the die cut word "you" with one of the greetings from the new Tilted Banner Sayings Stamp Set, added some baker's twine and the heart embellishments from the April 2013 Card Kit to finish the card.

I've got lots of other sewing projects in the works so why not another, right?

A couple of weeks ago MODA fabric designers participated in a quilt along, each sharing a quilt block design. Click HERE to learn more from Joanna's (Fig Tree Quilt) blog. She describes it wonderfully plus if you scroll to near the end of her post she gives a tip that has changed my sewing (the tip on cutting corners). I dutifully printed out the patterns each day but didn't have time to actually make anything. Over the weekend I decided to tackle a couple of the blocks just for fun. In fact what I love about this project is that it's just a block at a time. It's easy to finish in one sitting. Before I know it I will have a big stack of blocks ready for a big project. I like that.

Fabrics are all by Fig Tree. Mostly Fresh Cottons (a fat quarter bundle I've been hoarding for quite some time.... the fresh aquas and creams....ah.....they speak to my heart!) and some California Girl, so far. I'm sure I'll be adding to as I sew along!

This month's stamp set is fabulous (of course!), usuable (of course!) and mixes and matches so well with Ali's other stamps (as well as any stamps you may have in your scrap/stamp stash)!

Today I'm sharing a recent Project Life spread for 2013. It's simple, basically photos, journaling and stamping.

PROJECT LIFE | Week 9

Most of the journaling cards are from Studio Calico's Front Row Project Life Kit (February). The title card is a blank one from Becky Higgins and a couple of the others are either from the Seafoam Edition (Becky Higgins) or something else from my stash (I've linked below where I could!).

Ali's Big Days Stamp Set worked perfectly with the March Stamp set on this Project Life spread. These will be getting lots of use in my PL album. 

I also think I will be toning down the dimensional embellishments a lot this year. I love the badges (which are super bulky but I love 'em!) but I've found that I am really drawn to a journaling card + stamping + photos for my album pages. I'm working on several videos showing ideas on stamping your own journaling cards that I can't' wait to share with you!

And, yes, I've been taking tons of photos of myself. At first I felt really really silly (okay, I still do!) but I'm finding that as I look at the photos of myself from last year and before it is really a great way not only to include myself in my scrapbooking (and what I'm like right now) but to record the healthy lifestyle changes that I've been working towards for over a year now! I'm also including photos of my paper crafting projects when I feel like it. It's such a big part of me and my life that I can't belive I haven't been doing this before! Duh! (smacking myself in the forehead...)

I used a stamp from this month's Studio AE set nine times in this 2-page spread! I call that versatility. These phrases can and will be great used again and again!

14 Days of Valentine's Day Inspiration | Project #8 KBS "Meow" layout

Happy Monday!

I know it's now March, but I still have a few Valentines-y inspired projects to share, starting with this layout featuring Kerri Bradford Studio Files. This layout isn't really a "Valentine's Day" layout but rather a layout featuring something that my daughter loved when she was 2 - kittens! Don't forget to scrapbook those memories of the things that you, your kids, grandkids (or whomever is special to you) love. With so many wonderful heart and love-themed products available whether it's February or not, you're sure to find just the right accent for your next scrapbook page!

I added love-themed product to this page with the "love" word bubble from Studio Calico, the chalkboard bubble sticker with the mini heart, the die cut hearts from Kerri's XOXO kit and the "love it" phrase from Kerri's Need Directions kit.

Instead of die cutting the paw prints and adhering them on top of the layout I chose to die cut them from my background paper instead and pop a contrasting paper behind. Makes it much easier than trying to piece the paw prints back together. :)

 

Here lately I am addicted to using negative frame die cuts on my pages, especially for framing up older photos (pre-digital days!). The ability to resize them to suit my specific photo/layout needs makes them an ideal way of emphasizing the photos, even when they aren't the best quality of photos. This free file Kerri put up ages ago continues to be one of my all-time favorites! The original has a die cut "u." along the bottom (wider) edge and one of the frames has the phrase "love this" along one edge. With just a tiny bit of manipulating I ungrouped the image, then removed the letter "u". I duplicated the plain cut out frame and replaced the frame with the phrase with the plain one. Then regrouped the image for a bit more "plain jane" negative strip! 

To customize these even further, I added one of Kerri's more recent designs "love it" from her Need Directions kit to the bottom of one of the filmstrips.

I only had five photos, but six open frames... that sixth frame is the perfect spot to add my journaling! Instead of just printing my journaling on a piece of cardstock and sticking it behind the frame I resized Kerri's file folder to fit the frame and die cut it from some ledger paper. Then I printed my journaling and added some stamping to make the journaling not only a necessary element on my page, but an interesting and fun one to look at as well!

Simon Says Stamp March 2013 Card Kit Blog Hop (Video & GIVEAWAY!!!)

This month’s card kit, Friendship Flowers is the perfect kit to get you in the mood for flowers blooming and Springtime weather.  In fact, I created a little home decor piece the other day using the March 2013 Kit to show just how versatile these card kits can be and it's making me dream of sunshine and flowers and warmer weather! You can see the flowers and vase I created HERE.

I am so very excited to be part of this blog hop today and to share another idea using this amazing kit!

This month's stamp set has already gotten a lot of mileage and I've only had it a couple of weeks! Today, I wanted to share a set of 8 cards I created showcasing these wonderful stamps!

I created 4 different color combo's of cards using the same basic design. Makes it easy to make a lot but keeps it interesting by using different colors!

For this first card set I used the following Hero Arts Shadow/Mid-Tone Inks:
