You know how sometimes you just get this idea and you know exactly what product you're going to use I know I used a kit which narrowed down the possibilities but don't judge since I've been on a semi sabatical from paper crafting and everything I've made in the last 5-6 months has been a bit of a struggle and the project literally just falls together exactly like you envisioned?
That happened today.
I had this idea days ago and I finally set aside everything else earlier this afternoon and just made this card. In less than an hour. And I love it. It was exactly what I was trying to do.
No rearranging elements.
No do-overs.
No swapping out one product for another.
This never happens this easily for me.
Ever.
Maybe my mojo came back? (Gasp!)
It's been gone for so long I sort of forget what paper crafty mojo must be like....
So here's my card featuring lots and lots and lots of amazing Simon Says Stamp exclusive products and of course, the amazing May 2013 Card Kit. In fact, everything you see here (minus the Tiny Attacher and Copics) is either from the Card Kit or a Simon Exclusive!
FYI: I have it on good authority that the May 2013 SSS Card Kit is very limited so if you've been on the fence I'm attempting to nudge you over! ha! I've only created 2 cards with the kit so far (2 of my favorite cards of late I may add!) and there is still so much stuff that I will be making the rest of my Mother's Day cards as well as a few other things with the kit. It's good stuff. Truly. I love that someone else coordinates the product for me. It makes it easy to sit back, relax and just create!
First the background:
I wanted to use the SSS Falling Hearts background die.
So I did.
I went for a more subtle background with my color choices however it definitely shows up better IRL. All patterned paper is from the Card Kit.
I knew I was going for a bouquet type of look and initially I stamped and colored 4 leaf clusters and 3 stem roses using these Copics:
I purposely tried to keep them from all looking "uniform" even though I used the same colors in varying degrees on all 3 flowers.
I felt like they needed a bit of texture so I stamped over the colored flower part using the great grid circle stamp included in the stamp set. It worked perfectly. Scroll down a bit for a good close up. Then I added some glitter pen over the top. Who doesn't love sparkle? Serioulsy? ;)
I took 3 awesome flower/vine exclusive SSS dies and die cut them from 3 leftover pieces of paper from the kit. I then began layering them onto my card background:
I ended up with 1 light pink die cut, 1 darker pink and 2 "green" flourishes.
Pretty huh?
Then I added the rose in the background and tucked 1 of the leaf clusters behind it.
Then I layered the rest like you see here.
Even prettier...
I stamped several many of the little circles from the stamp set and then filled them in with the super pretty Liquid Pearls from the kit. See... even the Liquid Pearls comes in the kit! Whoohoo.......
Then, I used what could quite possibly be my most favoritest new-ish die ever that really isn't brand new I just haven't used it until now.... the Perfect Bow Die! Um.....where has this been all my crafty life and why have I not used this until now? It's super fantabulous! I made my bow out of a scrap of vellum in my kit. I love vellum. I love die cutting. I love paper crafting. A lot.
I finished up my card with a little mixing matching of greetings from the SSS Tilted Banner Sayings Stamp Set and SSS Stamptember On Edge Stamp Set. I die cut several of the SSS Mini Hearts Set Die out of white cardstock and inked them with the Hero Arts Inks I used elsewhere on the card.
Shhhhh......this card is for my mama and daddy who are celebrating their anniversary at the end of next month. They are a shining example of marriage and committment and they are more in love now then ever..... I strive to be as happy and in love in 40 years as my mom and dad!
