Stinkin' Cute Card & Video

Happy Friday!

Did it seem to anyone else that the week sort of flew by? Wow. I feel like it was just Monday. I blinked and all the sudden it was Friday. And tomorrow it will be March. How did THAT happen? LOL

Today I have a little birthday card share featuring the Simon Says Stamp Stinkin' Cute Stamp Set (it's from awhile back but I hadn't gotten the chance to use it yet), my favorite background stamp SSS Wide Stripes Background and a balloon and greetings from the new SSS Birthday Balloons and SSS Birthday Messages stamp sets.

 

The tone on tone background was created with SSS Mint Cardstock, SSS Mint Ink and the SSS Wide Stripes Background.

I added some dimensional stars with the Heidi Swapp Confetti Stencil and Mother of Pearl Modeing Creme.

I colored the cute little skunk in with Prismacolor colored pencils and blended with Gamsol before adding detail with glitter and gel pens. I cut him out and adhered him with foam adhesive to my card.

I stamped the balloon from the SSS Birthday Balloons stamp set using SSS Cotton Candy Ink. I added stars from the same stamp set with SSS Mint Ink and stamped the balloon over the image again using Versamark Ink and adding Iridescent Sparkle Embossing Powder ove the balloon and heat setting it for a glittery finish.

For the Love of Balloon Stamps

I have a confession.

I am addicted to balloon stamps. Like crazy, must have them all addicted! 

Good thing that balloons are great for more than just birthday cards and projects, right?!!!!

Today I've got four card shares featuring balloons from the new wplus9 Whole Lotta' Happy Stamp Set.

My first card is, of course, a birthday card. One layer. No fuss, no muss and with the great mixing and matching of the sentiment stamps in this set, you can create just the right birthday greeting for the recipient!

I used a combination of Avery Elle Pigment Ink colors on each balloon for the multi-colored effect. I started with the lighter of the two colors and then added the darker color with a dauber before stamping. I had to finish each balloon with a little glitter from the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker, too!

I am always always needing baby cards and I never have any on hand. I quickly stamped up these two cards, one with pinks and one with blues, so that I have one of each on hand! 

Again, these are extremely simple. The addition of a bit of glitter marker on the balloons gives them that extra something and makes them shine!

I love the look of a crisp black stamped greeting on a single layer card like this, too.

Another card type that I don't seem to ever have handy are wedding cards! Balloons make the perfect accent for these cards. Add an appropriate stamped greeting and you have a quick wedding card!

To give my one-layer wedding card a touch of elegance, I stamped and embossed the greeting as well as three of the balloons. The rest of the balloons I stamped in Avery Elle Mint To Be and added some glitter pen over the top! Easy peasy!

Hello…. Card feat. Avery Elle + SSS + Hero Arts

Sometimes it's fun to just play around with stamps and inks for no other reason than to just play, KWIM?

I spent a little time over the weekend enjoying some new (to me) stamps and coordinating dies from Avery Elle and Hero Arts and also my favorite new color of cardstock, SSS Audrey.

I stamped a bunch of bright florals using the Avery Elle Laurels Stamp Set and die cut them with the Coordinating Dies however when I layed them out on my card base I felt like the background needed a little something. 

 

I used the new Hero Arts Prism Background Stamp (a new favorite, by the way!) and inked it up with the new Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue Ink and stamped it on the SSS Audrey Cardstock for a great tone on tone background.

The greeting is a combination of stamps from the Avery Elle Laurels Stamp Set and SSS Sketchy Banners Stamp Set stamped with SSS Black Ink.

Simon Says Stamp March 2014 Card Kit | You Fill My Day With Color Card + VIDEO

Hello!

I'm back today with another card share from the Simon Says Stamp March 2014 Card Kit.

 

Coloring was a favorite pastime when I was little.

Oh, who am I kidding? It still is!

I can't get enough of the fun stamps in the March Kit and the crayon stamp is a favorite! I stamped a bunch of the crayons and colored them in using Prismacolor Colored Pencils and Gamsol. Then I cut them out.

Now, I needed something cute and fun to "tuck" my crayons into and what is better than a jar?!!!

I stmaped the jar from Filled With Love Stamp Set onto vellum using the SSS Black ink and then die cut it with the coordinating Filled With Love Jar Die.

I carefully glued the jar to my card using the Zig glue pen right around thee edges of the card, leaving the top "open". I tucked most of the crayons inside and tacked them down with a glue dot.

I carefully punched tiny holes with a needle on each side of the jar (through the patterned paper background) and threaded through the twine from the kit. I stamped the small tag from the Filled With Love Stamp Set, added the greeting and heart and die cut the tag with the Filled With Love Jar Die. I secured the tag to the twine and tied it in a bow.

I stamped the greeting on a strip of white cardstock using stamps from the kit with SSS Black ink and SSS Island Blue ink. I finished with a couple more crayons and added a half circle punched from the striped patt. paper embellished with an enamel dot.

Today I'm blogging over on the Simple Stories Blog with some tips and tricks on utilizing 3x4 (or 4x6) Sn@p! Sets cards for die cutting.

Whether you use a digital die cutting machine like the Silhouette Cameo or a manual die cutting machine, I've got some ideas on making the most of your Sn@p! products in non-traditional ways.

Digital die cutting completely changed the way I scrapbook and I can't imagine being without my Silhouette Cameo! And the icing on the cake? Why, the fact that Simple Stories now offers cut files in the Silhouette Store, of course!

I used the following cut files for my first project share today, a layout utilizing eight different designs!

I used some of the cut files "as is" and some files I altered to fit my layout needs.

I'll show you how in the accompanying video.

I used the polaroid die cuts to "frame up" my page, with a title and journaling in the center of my layout. By layering the die cut polaroids with Sn@p! 3x4 Cards, I was able to create a cohesive page with simple layers and lots of color. 

For my card, I used a metal balloon die in a manual die cutting machine (the Sizzix Big Shot) to die cut balloon shapes from the Birthday 3x4 Sn@p! cards. 

Adding detail to the die cuts with Glossy Accents, a glitter marker and string make these die cuts a cut above the rest! ;)

Mama Elephant | Sketchy Letters

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the brand new Sketchy Letters Stamp Set.

I was inspired by one of the designs from THIS paper pad to recreate a similar look using the new stamp set!

I die cut some smooth white cardstock using the stitched Femme Frame die and starting at the bottom of the card, I stamped one of the phrases from the new True Friend Stamp Set using ME Apple Ink. I stamped most of the alphabet in SSS Black Ink, with the exception of the "i" and "u" which I stamped with ME Ocean Ink and the heart stamped in ME Apple Ink. 

I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the heart and scattered some pearls and gems for embellishment.

I die cut the Dainty Bow from one of the patterned papers in the Cupid's Arrow 6x6 Paper Pad and assembled and secured it to the top of my card. I added an enamel heart accent to the center.

I also popped up the stamped center piece using my favorite foam adhesive.

Mama Elephant | Origami

Today the ME Design Team is showcasing the brand new Origami Stamp Set. 

To give the origami image depth and dimension, I stamped the image three times and cut pieces from two of the images to layer on top of the original. I slightly curled up the edges to give it a dimensional look.

To create the sweet "scene" for the origami image, I stamped the sunshine using the Sunny Skies Stamp Set with Sunshine and Orangeade inks.

I die cut the waves using two of the Landscape Trio Dies and stamping them with the polka dot border from Basic Borders using Ocean ink.

I stamped the greeting using phrases from both Origami and True Friend Stamp Sets near the top of the card.

I finished the card by stamping the Origami hearts on red cardstock, cutting them out and applying a thin layer of Glossy Accents on top of each.
