Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week | Hello Sunshine Stamp Set

Welcome to another day here during Lawn Fawn's February Inspiration Week!

Today the Design Team is showcasing the new stamp set, Hello Sunshine, an adorable stamp set that perfectly coordinates and compliments the new Hello Sunshine Collection!

I've been sharing a quite a few cards that have layers (die cuts, foam adhesive and more) so today I wanted to show how easy and fun it is to create a single layer card (and how that doesn't have to mean boring!).

I'm addicted to single layer cards. Why, you may ask... 

For one thing they are super easy to mail. No bulk. No extra postage needed.

And with the incredible tools available to us stampers, like glitter pens, glaze pens, watercolors, chalks, markers and more, it's never been easier to add that extra somethin' to our cards without the bulk!

To create my card today, I started at the bottom and stamped the "wire" the birdies are standing on using MFT Grout Gray Ink. I chose a subtle ink so that the other elements (i.e. birds, balloons and greeting) took center stage while adding to the overall design.

Next, I stamped the birds using my new favorite SSS Black Ink and colored them in with colored pencils, blending with Gamsol and a stub pencil.

I stamped one balloon string using MFT Grout Gray Ink to look like it was being held by the bird's beak and then stamped the heart balloon using Hero Arts Ultra Pink Ink. Then I stamped the two round balloons using HA Butter Bar Ink and HA Mint Julep Ink before adding the remaining balloon strings. Again, I wanted the balloons to take center stage so I used the MFT Grout Gray Ink for the strings. White gel pen accents and Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker over the balloons make them pop!

Adding white gel pen detail to the birdies are one of my favorite ways to add character to colored images. I also added detail to the eye of each bird using the black glaze pen.

Finally, a multi-colored stamped greeting always adds a punch of color and interest. This is easy with a font style like this one. I inked up the first two words "oh & happy" using HA Mint Julep Ink, then I carefully added the darker ink, HA Navy Mid Tone Ink for the word "oh" right over the lighter ink. I flipped the stamp around and added ink to the word "day" using Hero Arts Ultra Pink Ink. Then I stamped it on my card. Easy peasy!

Mama Elephant | True Friend

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the brand new True Friend Stamp Set. I also used this stamp set for my Stampede Card HERE.

For today's card, I stamped two of the greetings from True Friend using Versamark Ink on Tim Holtz Watercolor paper (the smooth side). I also used one of the images from the new Origami Stamp Set and heat embossed all three images with white embossing powder.

I used three Distress Inks and a water brush to create watercolor washes that I used over top of the stamped and embossed images. The embossed areas resisted the watercolors, leaving a soft and pretty "background" for the stamping. I flicked some additional color onto the paper and embellished with sequins. 

I mounted the whole thing on a white card base using foam adhesive.

Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week | Hello Sunshine Paper Collection

Today I've got a summer themed layout share showcasing the new Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine Paper Collection, Hello Sunshine Flair and Hello Shine Sequins! 

I also used the frame die cut from the Lawn Fawn #awesome Die Collection, the Spring Showers Die Collection, Hello Scripty Die and Cole's ABC's Die Collection. Lots and lots of amazing Lawn Fawn action going on! 

For basically being such a simple layout in design this page and I had major creative differences and it took three tries to get it just how I wanted it. Truth be told, the finished page is close to my original sketch design that I initially wanted to do but I kept trying to not use the #awesome Die Collection since that isn't one of the "new" products that we are using for February Inspiration Week. But after two other failed layout tries, I said "to hell with it" and went ahead with my original plan. I should have saved myself the time and energy and just done that in the first place! ha!

The #awesome Die Collection frames are 2.5" square and perfect for Instagram type of photos! To make my frames a bit more substantial, I die cut 5 layers and glued them one on top of another for each frame creating a thicker more "chipboard style" frame. Of course the awesome Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine Paper Collection die cut frame is the top layer on each. I decided to keep the colors of the frames to the stripe pattern, blues and gray dot for consistency and I'm glad I did. I added in the rest of the colors elsewhere in the design.

I used the Hello Scripty Die and Cole's ABC's Die Collection to create my page title. I die cut them once from the Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine Paper Collection and then once from black cardstock. The black cardstock behind the letters helps make the title really pop!

I used the inside piece die cut from the #awesome Die Collection for my journaling. I simply die cut the rounded square, ran it through my printer and then placed it behidn the frame! Love that the paper has the sun design in the background which really compliments and coordinates with the page!

I used the same technique for the die cut sunshine from the Spring Showers Die Collection and used 5 layers to give it a more substantial look and feel. I added one of the Hello Sunshine Flair badges to the center and used some vellum die cut clouds to finish the embellishment. Some Freckled Fawn wood flags tucked behind the sunshine add a bit of fun and variety.

I love, love, love the large polka dot paper in the Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine Paper Collection but couldn't make it work for my page as it was so instead I used a 1" circle punch and punched out some of the dots and sprinkled them throughout the design for pops of color and to add to the "water" theme! I finished them off with some Hello Shine Sequins!

Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week | Year Four + Spring Showers Dies

I've got a fun birthday themed card share today showcasing the new Lawn Fawn Year Four Stamp Set and coordinating dies and also the new Spring Showers Die Collection!

And because I couldn't help myself, I also used critters (and their coordinating dies) from Ever After, Gnome Sweet Gnome and On the Mend. One of the banners from Bannerific fit the Lawn Fawn Year Four Stamp Set greeting perfectly!

The Hippo from Year Four is the cutest thing ever! Love this critter! I colored the hippo and all the critters/images with Prismacolor Colored Pencils, blending with Gamsol. Yep, I'm on a bit of a colored pencil kick. I used a white opaque pen to add detail to my hippo and I popped up many of the elements up with foam adhesvie for easy dimension.

I really love the birdie design from Year Four too! And a balloon die to match makes me super duper happy!

I die cut the clouds from smooth white cardstock and vellum using the Spring Showers Die Collection. The stitching detail on these die cuts really add to the design. I layered the white and vellum clouds, popping some up with foam adhesive. 

Patterned paper from the Hello Sunshine 6x6 Paper Pad add interest and color to the design.

The greeting and banner stamped with Avery Elle White Ink on SSS Black Cardstock really make the entire desgin pop!

Mama Elephant Stampede | True Friend

Today I'm sharing a card showcasing the new True Friends Stamp Set. This stamp set has banner images that perfectly fit the Bold Banner Die and lots of great greetings!

I used the solid banner images to "color" my die cut banner using the Mama Elephant Ocean Ink. Then I stamped the greetings using Simon Says Stamp Black Ink.

 

 

 

I paired the cute greeting banner with the adorable monkey and balloons Up & Away stamped images. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them in with Copics. Then I used the coordinating Up & Away Dies to cut out the balloons and monkey.

 

I used the Landscape Trio Dies and Femme Frames Dies to create the subtle white on white background. I cut the stitched rectangle from Femme Frames using Neenah Solar White Cardstock and layered a couple of cloud borders cut from the same white cardstock on top. 

I layered the vellum scallop frame from Femme Frames over the top of the solid rectangle and layered another white cloud die cut border on top of that. I stamped the balloon again using black in on the vellum and lined up the die cut and colored image over the top, adhering with foam adhesive.

 

Die cut and stamped stars from Confetti finish off the card. I used a little Wink of Stella Glitter Marker on the stars and balloons for some sparkle!

Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week | Speech Bubble & Hello Dies

Welcome to day 2 of the Lawn Fawn February Inspiration Week!

Today the Design Team is showcasing the two amazingly awesome brand new dies: Speech Bubble Border Die and Hello Scripty Die. Are these two the cutest dies ever or what?!!!! So versatile. Great not only for cardmaking but Project Life and scrapbook page layouts!

I also used the new coordinating dies for Ever After and Bon Voyage. Coordinating dies make Nichol a very happy girl. ;)

To make the speech bubble greeting, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4.25" wide and positioned both the Speech Bubble Die and Hello Scripty Die on the paper, running them through my Big Shot at the same time. I die cut the Hello again from a 6x6 sheet of Hello Sunshine patterned paper. I backed the speech bubble with a strip of vellum and then I adhered the patt. paper Hello to the cutout in the speech bubble. I used the stamp sets LF Happy Everything for "birthday" and LF Sophie's Sentiments for "girl" to complete the greeting on the front of the card.

I stamped, colored and die cut the wand from Ever After and adhered it to the top right corner of the card, then I stamped a bunch of the tiny, tiny stars from Ever After using Hero Arts Soft Yellow Ink and Butter Bar Ink.

I die cut clouds from white cardstock and vellum using the Bon Voyage Dies and layered them at the top of the speech bubble, then adhered the whole thing with foam adhesive to my card base.

I stamped, colored with colored pencils and die cut the castle, unicorn, frog and crown from Ever After and layered them with more die cut clouds along the bottom of the card.

Finally I finished up the inside of the card with a stamped greeting from Ever After.

This is the perfect birthday card for any little princess!

KBS | Kiss Kiss Layout

Hey everyone!

Today I have a new layout showcasing Kerri Bradford's digital cut files. One of my favorite ways to scrapbook older photos from my pre-digital days is to frame them up. Because I can't alter these photos in editing software framing takes the emphasis off the less than perfection of the photos and allows for the memories and emotion to take center stage. I used an older cut file Kerri created for the Silhouette Store (Design ID #5265) on my page to frame up these photos of my oldest son when he was little with my mom. *I did alter the cut file a bit and made the frames more square than rectangular to work with my photos and page design better.*

The title, "Kiss Kiss, love you." inspired the direction of the page. I combined the two phrases ("Kiss Kiss" from Kerri's February Fourteen Kit and the "love you." is one of her FREE cut files found HERE.). A good title often can make or break a page. In this case it gave my page direction and everything just came together so easily!

I only had three photos for the six frames so I filled the open frames with die cut embellishments that helped tell my story. Hearts (from Kerri's brand new Just My Type Kit) and the camera (from her Design Secrets Class) make for fun embellishments.

I used an Ali Edwards circle stamp from her Tick Tock Stamp Set on the center die cut of the camera and some Studio Calico Kit stamps above and below. Hero Arts Soft Granite and Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass Inks perfectly matched the papers in my layout!

I used another Studio Calico stamp in my journaling. I love adding touches of stamping to journaling. I feel it adds character to the layout and ties the journaling into the page design.

I love the shape of the heart in one of the designs in Kerri's new Just My Type Kit and I cut three hearts in varying sizes, embellishing them with stamping, enamel dots and a clip to make them fun! The "You've Captured My Heart" stamped phrase is from one of my favorite new stamp sets from My Favorite Things, Picture This. The love definition (pictured above) is from Wplus9's Defining Words Stamp Set. I wanted the text to be a bit lighter on this so I used MFT's new Grout Gray Ink to stamp the definition.

Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing the brand new (and very, very fun!) stamp set, Let's Roll and coordinating dies! Have I mentioned how much I love coordinating dies? Because I do love them. A lot!

To create my card, I stamped several of the images from Let's Roll onto smooth white cardstock colored them in with Prismacolor Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol.

I had forgotten how much I loved this technique until creating THIS card for the Lawn Fawn CHA-W catalog and booth. Since then, my colored pencils have been getting much love from me again. In fact, they make an appearance on tomorrow's LF card share as well!

After the images were all colored I used the coordinating Let's Roll dies to cut them all out. Easy peasy!

To create the background for my card, I used the LF Interlocking Backdrops Stamp Set, alternating the direction of the chevron for a fun, graphic and modern background. I used my favorite MFT Grout Gray Ink. It's the perfect color when you don't want the stamping to be too bold.

To get the multi-colored stamped title, I used Avery Elle Pigment Inks in Fog and Cherry and applied the ink to the greeting stamp with sponge daubers. *hint* If you label each sponge dauber with the ink color and store them in THIS box, you can use them over and over again!

I popped up some of the images as well as the background piece with foam adhesive.

I felt the top of my card needed a little somethin' to tie it all together. I stamped the tree (using it as a branch) from LF Critters Down Under, colored it in with colored pencils and cut it out (crossing my fingers that a die set is in the future for this set!)

I stamped and die cut tiny, tiny florals from the new LF Penelope's Blossoms Stamp Set and glued them around the branch.

Simon Says Stamp Cardstock & Inks Gift Card Set + GIVEAWAY

Hello friends!

I'm thrilled to be sharing a new card set today showcasing the Simon Says Stamp exclusive Cardstock and Inks!  Simon Says Stamp currently carries 14 colors of cardstock and inks in an amazing rainbow of vibrant colors! I love them all, however, the Sea Glass, Island Blue and Khaki sort of make my heart go pitter patter! ;) And the SSS Black Ink is my new go-to basic black ink pad for crisp, perfect stamped images and greetings!

You may just want to check back a little later this month, say the 21st, for the Spring 2014 Release. Word is that SSS will be adding to their exclusive cardstock and ink collection! Whoohoo!!!!

I decided to showcase several of the cardstock and ink colors today with a card set. I created four cards all with the same design, just changed up the colors a bit on each.

I used the SSS Mod Window Die to create the border along the bottom of a piece of 4"x5.25" SSS Khaki cardstock. I filled in the design with both white cardstock and SSS cardstock to create a patterned design along the bottom of each card.

I trimmed a piece of SSS Green Leaf cardstock to fit along the top edge of the die cut border and stamped a greeting from SSS Thanks 3x4 Stamp Set using SSS Black Ink.

I die cut the rest of the greeting from white cardstock using the SSS Thanks On A Line Die. I wrapped some string or twine around each card and tied it in a bow.

For each flower, I used the SSS Whimsical Flowers Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I die cut the larger flower from one of the SSS cardstock colors and cut the smaller floral and leaves from white cardstock. Then I stamped the flower and leaves with SSS ink colors to match each card.

I adhered each flower with foam adhesive, added some Glossy Accents to the center of the flower and adhered a tiny, tiny wood veneer heart.

Upcoming Projects & Posts Sneaks
