Nothing says springtime like sweet little chicks! Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the brand new Just Hatched Stamp Set and Just Hatched Creative Cuts craft dies. Not only does this set feature a cute little chick image but there are eggs, other critters and tons of greetings that can be customized to create the perfect sentiment for your project!
For my card share today I created a baby card complete with pastel eggs and little chicks. I am obsessed with the Simon Says Stamp Mint Cardstock and die cut it using the scallop frame die from the ME Femme Frames Creative Cuts. I used this as the background of my little "Just Hatched" scene!
I am in love with the ME Femme Frames Creative Cuts and ME Landscape Trio Creative Cuts and finding fun ways to layer them to create the most visually appealing cards. It's amazing how you can get so many different looks just by how you layer these die cuts!
The layers (from the bottom up) for my card today are:
- Simon Says Stamp Mint Cardstock scallop ME Femme Frames Creative Cuts
- white cardstock cloud border from ME Landscape Trio Creative Cuts & SSS Green Leaf Cardstock stitched "grass" from ME Landscape Trio Creative Cuts & Just Hatched chick and eggs
- vellum die cut from stitched rectangle ME Femme Frames Creative Cuts
- SSS Green Leaf Cardstock stitched "grass" from ME Landscape Trio Creative Cuts & ME Just Hatched chicks, eggs, grass and stamped and embossed speech bubbles
- vellum banner from ME Bold Banner Creative Cut die and ME Just Hatched chick
I colored the cute little chicks with Prismacolor Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol. I added white dots to the cheeks of the chicks with the Sakura White Opaque Glaze Gel Pen. I stamped the grass with ME Mojito Ink and die cut it with the coordinating Just Hatched Creative Cuts. I stamped the egg shells with ME Blush, ME Bubblegum and ME Sunshine Inks and die cut them with the coordinating egg dies. I added detail to the polka dots on the egg shells and the beaks of the chicks with Glossy Accents.
I wanted the greeting and thought bubbles to "blend in" with the card and not overpower the design so I stamped them with Versamark Ink on Vellum and heat embossed the designs with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I carefully applied adhesive to where the banner is scored and the banner naturally bowed up in the middle. I added a chick sitting on top of the script greeting with foam adhesive. I added a "bow" to the little chick's head by stamping the bow from the ME Party Kit Stamp Set with ME Blush Ink and die cutting it with the coordinating Party Kit Creative Cuts die.

I love that you used pencils to Color and blend with Gamsol! I was wanting to try this and people at the art store were looking at me strange, I guess it's just not that common. I think it looks like Copic colouring and WAY cheaper than collecting Copics, I already owned a huge selection of Prismcolor pencils, so the Gamsol and blending stumps was a cheap investment for an expensive look. Very clever Girl!

Adorable card! The vellum is very effective and it's so nice to see someone use pencils. I was beginning to think I was the only one left who used pencils.
