How about an all-new card showcasing the Rock 'n Roll Technique to give you an idea of what it's all about?!!!! I picked a new Mama Elephant Stamp Set, Sweet Havana, to showcase just how awesome the Rock 'n Roll technique is on solid stamped images. The vase has so much more depth and dimension when stamped in two colors of blue ink, as do the florals in pinks/reds and the leaves in greens.

The textured background behind the pitcher/florals was created using the Simon Says Stamp Gingham Stencil and Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste. I love the white on white with subtle texture! I die cut a banner from vellum using the ME Bold Banner Die then stamped a greeting from the ME Around We Go Stamp Set using Versamark, embossing with two colors for added interest. 

I stamped the SSS Soft Navy cardstock card base with the MFT Text Background Stamp and SSS Soft Navy Ink and adhered the vellum stitched rectangle die cut using the ME Femme Frames die on top before adding the rest of the layers.

Simon Says Stamp June 2014 Card Kit | You Are My Favorite

I love the look of flowers in mason jars. You may have noticed that with some past card shares (like THIS one from a few weeks back). In fact I like jar stamps filled with all sorts of goodies and have used them many many times. I'll share links to my favorite jar stamps and past projects at the end of today's blog post.

I thought I'd share a couple more new cards using the SSS June 2014 Card Kit, You Are My Favorite today. The first one shows the six petal flowers and leaves from the the Favorite Flowers Stamp Set combined with stamped stems from the Scribble Flowers Stamp Set all tucked in a cute glass vellum jar from the Filled With Love Stamp Set.I wanted the stamped images to shine so I opted for a white background but I wanted to incorporate some texture to give the background interest. I used the new Large Moroccan Stencil with my favorite Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste. I didn't add the embossing paste over the whole stencil, instead just here and there for a somewhat distressed look and feel.

I stamped the greeting from the Favorite Flowers Stamp Set on the jar using Versamark and heat embossed the design with white embossing powder. Some enamel dots from the SSS June 2014 Card Kit, You Are My Favorite complete the flowers and some twine wrapped around the top of the jar finishes off the design.

As I was stamping the round flower for the card above I realized that the circler shape with the scribble circle shape inside sort of looked like a lollipop and that got me to thinking how cute it would be to create a jar filled with "lollipops" using the Favorite Flowers Stamp Set! I love being able to utilize my supplies in new and different ways!

 

I used the postage border stamp from the Absolutely Delightful Stamp Set for the lollipop "sticks". The gumballs are from the Filled With Love Stamp Set, the tag from the Tiny Tags Stamp Set, the greeting on the tag from Favorite Flowers Stamp Set and the greeting on the jar from the Hey Sugar Stamp Set.

I used the Medium Dots Stencil with the Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste for this card.

I created a one-layer card using just the cardstock and stamps from the kit and Simon Says Stamp Inks from my stash!

I used some of my favorite colors of Simon Says Stamp Inks for the flower collage: SSS Doll Pink Ink, SSS Blue Violet Ink, SSS Audrey Blue Ink, SSS Sea Glass Ink, SSS Sunshine Ink, SSS Orange Ink, SSS Green Leaf Ink and SSS Green Apple Ink. I love the bright vibrant colors together. A bit of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker brushed over the tops of the flowers gives a nice finishing touch.

I stamped the greeting using the SSS Black Ink, combining two of the word stamps from the SSS Favorite Flowers Stamp Set. Rounding the corners with 1/2" corner rounder gives a nice finished edge to this one-layer card.

Mama Elephant Designer Series | Sightseeing

Today I'm having a bit of fun with a "scene" stamped card showcasing the brand new Sightseeing Stamp Set and coordinating Creative Cuts as well as the new Cityscape Creative Cuts dies.

I am a big fan of creating a "scene" for my handmade cards and Mama Elephant has such a great variety of stamps and dies that work well together to mix and match for one-of-a-kind scene cards!

Here are a few of my favorite go-to products to use when creating a scene:

• vellum - it allows you to "see" through it giving the illusion of dimension without the bulk

PAPER DOLLS - JULIE NUTTING STAMPS + SSS CARD KIT "LEFTOVERS" (video)

Hello!

I'm finally getting around to sharing five of my art journal pages showcasing the Julie Nutting Paper Doll stamps created with leftovers from my Simon Says Stamp Card Kits from this year! (The June Art Journal page will be shared a bit later this week after I've shared the cards I created with the June 2014 Kit!). 

I've shared some of my paper doll love before (check out THIS post for a 12x12 layout and video and THIS post for a card created with a doll stamp) and today I have a bunch more paper doll lovelies to share. I loved paper dolls as a little girl so I think that is partially the attraction for me. I find it relaxing to dress these beauties up in patterned papers (6x6 papers are the best for proportionate sized patterns!).

That brings me to today's post: I realized I had a lot of paper scraps leftover after creating with the Simon Says Stamp Card Kits every month so on a whim one day I made up this cutie using the leftovers from the April Card Kit and of course I thought she needed Simon the dog as a companion so I added one of the stamped images of Simon from an exclusive SSS stamp set. It got me thinking that I needed someplace to keep her. I've wanted to try art journaling but wasn't sure the art journal books were for me. I like my sheet protectors. There I said it! I have amassed quite a lot of quote stamps over the years that would make a nice art journal/quote album and it got me to thinking that if I paired a doll stamp with a quote and made a smaller scale page I could probably fill a whole album with pages or art journaling done my way so that's what I'm doing! My pages are all 6x8. I wanted them big enough for the paper dolls but not so big that I'd have to find a way to fill a lot of square footage. I chose a ringed binder album so that I can move the pages around (I change my mind a lot) as needed and can add to my album easily!

My plan to use leftovers from each month's kits was almost thwarted when I realized I had misplaced any leftovers from January's Card Kit and wouldn't be able to use them. So instead of having a paper doll made from January's leftovers I have two from February's Card Kit (the florals and patternes in this one were too pretty not to use twice!). Here's a couple of videos showing my process for most of the pages/elements. I didn't video everything for every page here today however later this week I will show you January's page from start to finish! :)

I've broken the videos into two parts. The first is the doll creation and the second video shows putting an art journal page together using the doll and dog. :) 

Paper Doll Art Journal Page(s) made with the February's Card Kit:

This page showcases the Julie Nutting KATE Doll Stamp carrying some cute shopping bags I die cut using the Silhouette Digital Die Cutting Machine and a design I found in the Silhouette Online Store: Shopping Chica. Both her outfit and the shopping bags are patterned papers from the Basic Grey Fresh Cuts 6x6 Paper Pad. I felt like this shoe shopping Diva needed some shades so I added a stamped pair of sunglasses from the Avery Elle What's Up Stamp Set. The shop window is from an old October Afternoon chipboard sticker sheet and the shoes are from the Julie Nutting Becky, Shay and Megan Stamps.

The quote for this page is from the Lil' Inker Snarky Stamp Set. ;) And I particularly love Simon the dog from the Seasonal Simon Stamp Set on this one. He's got his matching shades on and a shoe hanging from his mouth!

For my second doll/page share from the February's Card Kit I created a travel themed page using the Julie Nutting Shay Stamp.

Again, Shay is outfitted with patterned papers from the Basic Grey Fresh Cuts 6x6 Paper Pad. Her hat and bow are from the Julie Nutting Boutique Stamp Set (this is a great accessory stamp set and a must-have for these paper dolls, IMO!). I added Glossy Accents to her shoes for a patent leather look. 

Simon is from the Stylish Simon Stamp Set and outfitted in a coordinating sweater and hair bow (hope he doesn't mind that he's a girl for this page....lol).

The suitcases are from the Mama Elephant Geotagged Stamp Set and I placed one on either side of this doll to make it appear that she is carrying one in each hand. Plus I added a "leash" for Simone (let's pretend this dog is the female Simon) using silver twine. The quote for this page is the Hero Arts Leave A Trail Stamp that I absolutely love stamped on vellum and embossed with white.

Paper Doll Art Journal Page made with the March Card Kit:

I used the Hero Arts World For Taking quote stamp for this page turning the circle into a sunshine with a design from the Silhouette Online Store Happy Sunshine. I used the Julie Nutting Taylor Doll Stamp and outitfitted her with the Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine patterned papers.

The balloons Taylor is holding are from the wplus9 Whole Lotta Happy Stamp Set. The chipboard bike and background papers are from the coming soon Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine Collection. 

Simon is from the Stylish Simon Stamp Set and outfitted with a cute bandana for this page design.

Paper Doll Art Journal Page made with the April Card Kit:

This page features the Julie Nutting Megan Doll Stamp outfitted with patterned papers from the Simple Stoires DIY 6x6 Paper Pad. Glossy Accents give boots a "rainboots" type of feel. Simon from the Seasonal Simon Stamp Set has his rainboots on too! The umbrella Megan is holiding was contructed with the umbrella from the Seasonal Simon Stamp Set and a handle die cut on my Silhouette Cameo.

Flat Bottom Clouds and the Heart Rainfall cloud and hearts complete the rainy day background. The quote for this page is from the My Favorite Things Chalkboard Greetings Stamp Set.

Paper Doll Art Journal Page made with the May Card Kit:

I used the Julie Nutting Natalie Doll Stamp for this page design and outfitted her with patterned paper from the Fancy Pants Be Different 6x6 Paper Pad. Natalie's accessories come from the Julie Nutting Boutique Stamp Set. The sign is a design from the Silhouette Online Store Vintage Hanging Shop Sign that I manipulated to fit the quote I used from the MFT Bokeh Builder Stamp Set.

Simon got a tophat from the Lawn Fawn Frosty Friends Stamp Set to coordinate with Natalie.

LAWN FAWN | HELLO BABY COLORING W/ SPECTRUM NOIR PENCILS (VIDEO)

Happy Friday!

Last Saturday I showed a sneak of three new cards showcasing the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby Stamp Set and coordinating Lawn Cuts dies and today I'm sharing all three cards and a video on how I colored these sweet critters with the Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils!

I used the Lawn Fawn Fawndamentals Notecards for the base of all three cards and my favorite Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts die, cut from smooth white cardstock, in the center of each notecard. I added ribbon behind each journaling card, securing it at the top of the die cut card with a staple and then sewing a button over the top to hide the staple. I adhered each Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts die to the Lawn Fawn Fawndamentals Notecards with foam adhesive. This keeps the joournaling card and stamped and colored elements nice and smooth since there is some bulky ribbon hanging out there behind the journaling card! ;)

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Sweet Havana

I love a good florals stamp set, don't you? Add in a gorgeous distress pitcher/vase and I'm sold!

The new Mama Elephant Sweet Havana stamp set is a new favorite for sure. I adore every single image in this stamp set! To keep the emphasis on the brightly colored stamped images, I created a white tone-on-tone background for the rest of the card. I love how the pitcher, florals and banner seem to pop off the background!

 

I stamped many of the elements (including the pitcher, banner, flower and some of the leaves) for my card using the Rock 'n Roll Technique. This technique works wonderfully with the ME pigment inks.

I used ME Winter and ME Ocean Pigment Inks for the pitcher, ME Blush and ME Bubblegum for the banner, ME Sunshine and ME Mojito for the leaves and ME Orangeade and ME Apple for the flower. I added some detailing to the florals with the Sakura Stardust Glitter Pen and die cut all the elements using the coordinating Sweet Havana Creative Cuts.

I adhered all the stamped and die cut elements onto the vellum scalloped rectangle die cut using the Type It Creative Cuts dies.

For the background, I die cut a rectangle from white cardstock using the Femme Frames stitched rectangle die and added texture with the SSS Medium Dots Stencil and White Emobssing Paste. Once the paste was dry I adhered the vellum piece on top using glue dots.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Splendid

Today I've got a new card share showcasing the brand new Mama Elephant Splendid Stamp Set. I combined the Splendid stamped greeting with the panda and balloons from Pandamonium for this sweet and simple card!

To stamp my greeting, I inked up only part of the greeting with SSS Black Ink by masking off the script style lettering with post it tape, removing the masking tape and stamping the image. Then I cleaned my stamp, masked off the words "every" and "single" and inked up the rest of the greeting with Salty Ocean Distress Ink, spritzed it with a Mini Mister filled with water 3-4 times and stamped the greeting on Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper. Even though this gives the greeting a nice watercolored look, it still wasn't quite enough "distressed watercoloring" for me so I grabbed a wet paintbrush before the ink dried and wet the Distress Ink more, pulling the ink outside the lines a bit, then I set it aside to dry.

 

I stamped the panda and balloon strings from Pandamonium on smooth white cardstock using SSS Black Ink. I stamped the balloons using Versamark Ink and heat set them with white embossing powder. To add color to the balloons, I created "watercolors" from Distress Inks on my craft mat and used a paintbrush to apply the color inside the embossed image. I set them aside to dry and then die cut all the images with the coordinating Pandamonium Creative Cuts dies.

I created some "grass" along the bottom of the watercolor paper by die cutting SSS Green Leaf Cardstock with the Landscape Trio dies.

I thought the card needed some stars so I stamped some from both Splendid and Make A Wish using Distress Inks spritzed with water for the same watercolor effect as the greeting!

Today the LF Design Team is showcasing the "sister" to my favorite Scipty Hello Lawn Cuts Die, Scripty Thanks Lawn Cuts die! I just love the look of scripty style dies and the big, bold greeting they add to a card. 

I used the Large Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts die to add that stitched border along the left side of the inlay pieces. The thought bubble is also from that same Large Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts set. I used the three smallest heart dies from the Heart Lawn Cuts die set as well.

LAWN FAWN | STITCHED PARTY BANNERS & LOUIE'S ABC'S & 123'S

Welcome into another day of the May Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week!

Today the LF Design Team is showcasing a couple of brand new stand alone die sets that are absolutely incredible, super versatile and so much fun to use... the Stitched Party Banners and Louie's ABC's & 123's dies.

I love these bigger sized dies! Not only are they terrific for scrapbook page layouts and to use individually on cards but you can make super fun home and party decor with the banners and large style alphabet!

I used the smaller of the two banners for this felt banner for my daughter's room. I die cut lots and lots and lots of banners from MFT Felt and then die cut hearts from the Stitched Party Banners die set and my daughter's name from the Louie's ABC's & 123's set and machine stitched the letters and  hearts to the banners.

I hung the double row of banners across the top of her bed using some baker's twine and clear thumb tacks.

The most time consuming part of this project was manually cranking each of these banners through my Sizzix Big Shot Machine.

Dear Santa, I need this (Sizzix Vagabond Machine) for Christmas! (hint, hint! Heck, at this great price and free shipping on Amazon....maybe I'll just get one for myself!)

While I was playing with die cutting the awesome MFT Felt, I thought it might be fun to make one of the felt banners into a card! I incorporated the Spring Showers Lawn Cuts Dies (clouds and sunshine), Float My Boat Lawn Cuts Die (seagulls) and Hearts Lawn Cuts die on the banner to create a fun beachy scene complete with a stamped and embossed greeting from Life Is Good Stamp Set. I matted the whole thing on some patterned paper die cut with the Large Stitched Journaling Card die (I just cut off the excess at the top of the card).

A scattering of sequins and metallic dots scattered throughout the design and some twine knotted through the banner complete this sweet scene.

Finally, I shared this project on Sunday with the Chit Chat Stamp Set blog post but wanted to mention it again here today as I used the Louie's ABC's & 123's Lawn Cuts alphabet die to cut the monogram for this gift card set. I used the Crop-a-dile to create the hole in the top of the monogram to tie it to the gift.
