Hello weekend!
Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing the brand new Hello Baby Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I love everything about this stamp set. Every. Little. Thing. The critters are to die for, the mix and match sentiments are perfection and when you put them together you get the most awesome baby cards (or campfire cards if you saw my post yesterday! ha!).
My card share today showcases the sweet little frog prince in this very masculine boy-ish baby card. I made this at a retreat weeks ago, with very limited supplies, and I just love how it turned out. The deep navy blues and greens make for a sweet non-traditional (non-pastel) baby card that I really like.
I used the SSS Soft Navy Cardstock for my card base, giving it a fun tone-on-tone look by stamping the cardstock with the SSS Wide Stripe Background Stamp in SSS Soft Navy Ink.
Anyone know what die I used to "wrap" around my card front and stamp the sweet Hello Baby images on?
If you guessed the LF Large Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts you are right! This die is too big for card fronts at 4x6" (it's intended purpose is for Project Life or pocket scrapping) however I was looking for unique ways to use this die for cards and I came up with this look that I really, really love. You will be seeing this again because I think it's a fun way to utilize the die plus a great way to add a "foundation" for stamped elements on cards!
I stamped the lily pad and grass from Hello Baby on the LF Large Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts using SSS Olive Ink. I stamped the reeds using SSS Dark Chocolate Ink and SSS Khaki Ink. I stamped and colored in the frog with colored pencils on a seperate sheet of paper, blending the colored pencils with Gamsol. I added detailing with the Sakura White Opaque Gel Pen and Black Gel Pen (for the eye). I cut him out with scissors and placed him on the lily pad on my card.
I added some stamped stars from Hello Baby in SSS Soft Navy Ink and Hero Arts Cornflower Blue Ink. and stamped the title with SSS Black Ink and SSS Soft Navy Ink.
