Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the brand new In My Heart Stamp Set and coordinating In My Heart Creative Cuts dies. This set is not only absolutely adorable but it was inspired by the amazing folks at OWH (Operation Write Home). You'll want to be sure to come back next Monday, June 23rd for a very special blog hop! (wink, wink!)
I've used these sweet little cuties several times for my projects this month. I can't get enough of them!
To create the dreamy watercolored background for my card, I first die cut some Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper using the brand spankin' new Starburst Cover Creative Cuts Die. I trimmed the watercolor paper down to approximately 4" square.
Using some Peerless Watercolors (Daffodil Yellow, Forget-Me-Not Blue and Mauve) and my favorite Claudine Hellmuth paintbrushes and some water I painted on color and set the background aside to air dry.
I die cut a couple of borders from the Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper using the Landscape Trio dies and painted on some color, again using the Peerless Watercolors (Grass Green) and set those aside to air dry as well while I worked on the rest of my card.
*I didn't apply the color over the entire surface of the background or "grass" as I wanted a more "messy" or "unfinished" type of look.
I stamped the sweet little girl from the In My Heart Stamp Set on Neenah Solar White Cardstock and colored her in with Copic Markers (the colors I used are individually linked below in the supplies list). I used my favorite Sakura Black Glaze Pen to add detail to her eyes and the buttons on her dress. I used the coordinating In My Heart Creative Cuts die to cut her out.
I stamped the shooting star image from the In My Heart Stamp Set on the background and also on some Neenah Solar White Cardstock. For the latter, I colored in the stamped star with Copics and die cut it with the coordinating In My Heart Creative Cuts die before gluing it in place on the background.
To assemble my card I adhered the "grass" die cuts to the bottom of the Starburst Cover background and placed the die cut girl "standing" in the "grass". I layered a piece of vellum behind the background piece and used my favorite foam adhesive to pop up the background on the SSS Doll Pink Cardstock card base (the card base is 4.25" square).
To finish my card I used a bunch of die cut stars I had on hand created from the Confetti Creative Cuts die (I keep all my extra confetti pieces in these: Craft Mates Lockable Double Organizer 9.25" X 4.25" X 1.25" 14 Compartments . It makes is so, so easy to just grab some confetti when I need it instead of having to make new confetti whenever I need it for a project!
* I keep my Craft Mates Lockables with small embellishments (including the die cut paper confetti in these binders: Craft Mates Lockables Ultrasuede Large Organizer Case, Purple . I have shared these in the past on my craft room blog posts but I'm working on new updated videos showcasing my studio and I will be dedicating an entire post to embellishment storage... soon! ;)
