LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK | SHAKER CARD

Any time I get to create a "just because" card, it is such a treat. I got to play with a new to me dies yesterday from Pretty Pink Posh and let's just say, I. Am. Addicted.

To create the shake I first die cut the PPP Stitched Duo #1 tag and insert from white cardstock to create the "window".

I added the first part of the greeting to the top of the tag stamping the word "love" from the Studio Calico Buttercup Stamp and Die set with SSS Fog Ink and stamping the phrase "you.to.the.moon" in SSS Black Ink along the top of the die cut windows.

I die cut the tag only using the PPP Stitched Duo #1 from both a clear transparency and also SSS Slate Cardstock. I cut 2 from the cardstock.

I stamped the Hero Arts Star Galaxy Background over the tag using SSS Slate Ink for a subtle tone on tone "night sky" background. I stamped the moon from the Studio Calico Buttercup Stamp and Die set and colored it in with Copic Markers (I've individually listed and linked the markers in the supplies below). I fussy cut the moon and adhere it to the "night sky". I had some leftover die cut glittered stars from other projects (I used THIS die and THIS die for the stars) and I glued a few to the tag around the moon.

Taking the other SSS Slate Cardstock tag and the curved edge PPP Stitched Borders #1 Die I cut a "landscape" to fit along the bottom of the stamped tag. I used gray instead of a green or brown to keep with the illusion of a nighttime shadowly scene. I stamped the remaining greeting from the Studio Calico Buttercup Stamp and Die set with Versamark along the landscape and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I secured the transpareny die cut tag to the white cut out tag with a strong adhesive to make the see-through portion of the shaker. Next, I added two layers of foam adhesive (cutting it to fit all four sides of the tag securely so none of the "shaking stuff" escapes). I sprinkled in some PPP Sparkling Clear 4mm sequins, removed the foam adhesive backing and placed the tag background to the back securing all the sequins inside! Shaker complete!

I stamped and colored the mouse from my favorite Avery Elle Storybook Stamp Set using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloring him in with Copic Markers. I added detail to his eye and the tip of his nose with my favorite black glaze pen. I die cut Mr. Mouse with the coordinating AE Storybook Die and adhered him to the shaker tag with foam adhesive.

I punched a hole through the top of my tag and thread through some pretty silver twine.

For the background I added texture to the SSS Fog Cardstock card base with the Lil' Inker Quilted Stitched Pattern Die. I die cut a vellum layer using the Lil' Inker Stitched Mats Rectangles Dies and adhered it to my card base, adhered the shaker tag to the card and finished with a scattering of a few more die cut glittered stars.

Mama Elephant Designer Series | SOIREE Creative Cuts (video)

Today I have a Mama Elephant Designer Series card share showcasing the brand new Soiree Creative Cuts dies. I created a bright and fun multi-layered birthday cake topped with some sweet little banners and finished with an embossed multi-colored greeting with the coordinating Soiree Stamp Set and Creative Cut dies.

 

I embellished the cake layers using a bit of thin organza ribbon and circle sequins cut using the Confetti Creative Cuts die. I used a bit of Glossy Accents over the stamped and die cut cake stand to give it a "ceramic cake plate" look and topped the cake with the mini banner colored in with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are linked below in the supplies).

 

I created my own plaid background using a border stamp from the Basic Borders Stamp Set on the die cut Index Card stitched rectangle. To keep the focus on the cake, I die cut the scalloped rectangle using the Index Card die and finished the edges by adding faux stitches with my favorite white pen.

Simon Says Stamp August 2014 Card Kit | "I SCREAM YOU SCREAM..." CARD

Happy Tuesday card-making friends!

Today I have another new card share featuring the oh-so-awesome Simon Says Stamp August 2014 Card Kit, Summer Dreams.

For today's card I started with the Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper included in this month's kit. I thought the Hero Arts Painted Canvas Design Block Stamp made the perfect messy "ice cream dripping" background to compliment the ice cream cones and sentiment. I inked up the stamp with Spun Sugar Distress Ink, Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and generously misted the entire thing with water from the Mini Mister before stamping on the watercolor paper. Because this stamp is a vertical design I did this twice to "fill" the horizontal background. I didn't have to worry too much about lining anything up perfectly due to the "messiness" of the stamped design!

I set the watercolor paper aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card design.

I die cut the ice cream cones from SSS Khaki Cardstock, SSS Doll Pink Cardstock, SSS Lemon Lush Chiffon Cardstock, SSS Cotton Candy Cardstock and SSS Sunshine Cardstock using the SSS Ice Cream Cones Craft Die. 

I distressed the edges of the die cut pieces using similar colors of Distress Ink (Spun Sugar Distress Ink, Picked Raspberry Distress Ink, Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink applied with foam Sponge Daubers (I like these small foam applicators for applying ink to small die cut pieces. I feel like I have more control of where the ink goes than with the traditional foam ink blending tools).

I added some detailing to the ice cream cones with my favorite white pen and then added glitter accents to the ice cream using Distress Glitters in Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. I used Ranger Matte Medium to adhere the glitter to my die cut pieces and my sweet friend Kelly Booth commented on my Instagram feed that this is the best adhesive for adhering glitters! Whoot! I squirted a bit of the Matte Medium on the Ranger Craft Sheet and then smeared it on the cardstock pieces with the tip of my pinky finger for a light application. Then I sprinkled on the glitter and set the pieces aside for the glue to dry. Easy peasy! 

A stamped the greeting from the SSS Ice Cream Dream Stamp Set with SSS Black Ink to the watercolored stamped background. I die cut a vellum circle using the stitched circe from the LF Party Banners Die Collection and stamped and embossed the same greeting with white embossing powder. I adhered the stamped circle over the black stamped greeting, slightly off-setting it for a great "shadow" text look!

I added a strip of patterned paper and a really thin strip of SSS Doll Pink Cardstock to the bottom of the watercolored stamped background and glued all my embellished die cut shapes in place to complete the card.

I trimmed about 1/8" off one long and one short side of the background and then popped the whole design up on the card base with my favorite foam adhesive.

KBS Christmas in July | Christmas Cards From Friends & Family 2013 (layout)

Even thought the temperatures are soaring in these parts I was inspired by Kerri Bradford's latest kit, Hello December, to take a bit of time and work on scrapbooking last year's Christmas Card photos from friends and family.

I incorporated quite a few of Kerri's designs into my spread. Here's a breakdown of what shape from what kit I used:

I create yearly layout spreads for the Christmas card photos we receive from friends and family each year. For last year's cards I decided to take the plunge and create a pocket-style layout that works perfectly with Kerri's Hello December cards!  

I customized the title card with an arrow from the Just My Type Kit and my own text. I made sure to turn the cut lines off anything I didn't want cut so that only the card shape was cut on my die cutting machine and not the text or shapes. 

Vellum number overlays on the photos keep the focus on the photos but coordinate back to the journaling card.

I customized one of Kerri's Hello December cards with a faux "vellum" overlay and journaling in the Silhouette Software before printing the card(s) with my printer and cutting the card(s) out with my Cameo.

 

Some wood veneer accents, overlays, star sequins and other gold star accents and frames add embellishment and a touch of whimsy to my page.

Mama Elephant Designer Series | GEOTAGGED Creative Cuts (video)

Today I have a card showcasing the brand new Geotagged Creative Cuts Dies that coordinate with the Geotagged Stamp Set.

I incorporated the Hello Script Creative Cuts Die and Index Card Creative Cuts Dies to round out the stmaped die cut design.

I die cut a piece of smooth white cardstock using the Index Card Creative Cuts stitched rectangle die. I stamped the United States image using the Rock 'n Roll technique with five colors of Mama Elephant pigment inks: Apple, Orangeade, Sunshine, Mojito and Ocean.

I die cut the Hello Script Creative Cuts Die from the stitched rectangle Index Card Creative Cuts. I also cut another hello from SSS Slate Cardstock. I used the inlay die cutting technique to inlay the gray cardstock "hello" into the stitched rectangle. I added a stamped greeting under the die cut word to finish the card's greeting.

I stamped the suitcases from the Geotagged Stamp Set and die cut the pieces using the coordinating Geotagged Creative Cuts Dies.

A stitched stamped line from the So Breezy Stamp Set and the stamped geotag die cut complete the design.

LAWN FAWN CHA SNEAK WEEK | SNOW DAY

 

Welcome to the Lawn Fawn Sneak Week! Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing the brand new Snow Day Collection and Snow Day Stamp Set.

For my card share today I combined the new Snow Day Stamp Set with the new Stitched Rectangles Lawn Cuts Dies and Hillside Lawn Cuts Dies.

I am addicted to using vellum in my projects and for this sweet snowy scene, the vellum provided the perfect wintery touch allowing me to layer the stamped and fussy cut trees both behind and in front of the vellum for a fun snow day look!

I stamped  the sweet little bunnies from the LF Snow Day Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them in with Copic Markers (the individual colors I used are listed and linked below in the supplies) and added detailing with my favorite white pen, Sakura Black Glaze Pen (for their eyes and noses) and some White Liquid Applique for their tails!

I stamped the trees from the LF Snow Day Stamp Set in Hero Arts Soft Olive and Simon Says Stamp Olive Ink and then fussy cut both the bunnies and trees.

I die cut a couple layers from smooth white cardstock and one from vellum using the LF Stitched Rectangles Dies. I then cut 2 hills from one of the white stitched rectangles using the LF Stitched Hillside Borders Dies.

Stamp a snowy background and the greeting onto the vellum and emboss with white and gold embossing powders respecitively.

Here's the order for the layers on my card:

1. Solid white stitched rectangle.
2. Adhere stitched hillside border on stitched rectangle using foam adhesive and tuck several trees along the hillside.
3. Layer vellum on top of hillside using foam adhesive.
4. Adhere stitched hillside border on vellum and tuck in several more stamped trees.
5. Adhere bunnies.

LAWN FAWN CHA SNEAK WEEK | Deck The Halls

 

Welcome to the Lawn Fawn Sneak Week! Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing even more brand new stamps and dies!

For my card share today I combined the Deck the Halls Stamp Set with the Critters In the Arctic Stamp Set and Stitched Rectangles Lawn Cuts Dies for this holiday-themed card featuring a winter owl decked out with a winter hat hanging out in a pine tree!

This card has three layers of stitched rectangles. Have I mentioned how incredible these new dies are? I'm such a sucker for stitched layers of any kind!

On the top layer of SSS Sea Glass Cardstock I stamped images from the Lawn Fawn Deck the Halls Stamp Set along the left edge to make it appear that a pine tree hanging "inside" the frame. I used several shades of green and brown ink for a more realistic look and added red stamped holly berries to complete the tree design.

I stamped the greeting in Versamark and heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder. 

I stamped the owl and hat from the Critters In the Arctic Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock and colored in the images with Copic Markers (the individual colors I used are listed and linked below in supplies). I added additional detailing to the owl with my favorite white pen.

I fussy cut the images and perched the sweet owl "in" the tree, adding some fun lidded wiggle eyes to complete the design.

Gold twine and a wood veneer star complete the card.

LAWN FAWN CHA SNEAK WEEK | FINLEY'S ABC'S

Welcome to the Lawn Fawn Sneak Week! Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing several more new stamp sets and die sets that will be available in August!

Today's card share showcases the new Finley's ABC's Lawn Cuts Dies and the adorabe Winter Penguin Stamp Set. I threw in a couple of images from the new Critters in the Arctic Stamp Set as well!

I die cut a rectangle from some smooth white cardstock using the LF Stitched Rectangles Dies and stamped the ice from the Critters in the Arctic Stamp Set on the die cut piece using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I lightly colored in the image with Copic Markers.  

I die cut the letters for the word "holidays" (except for the letter "o") from several colors of Simon Says Stamp Cardstock using the new Finley's ABC's Lawn Cuts Dies and from SSS Slate Gray Cardstock. I adhered the letters to the die cut stitched rectangle as shown, layering the colorful alphabet on top of the gray ones as shown to create a shadowed dimensional look. 

I applied a thin layer of Glossy Accents over the "ice" and added glitter detail to the die cut letters with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Marker.

I stamped the adorable penguin from the Winter Penguin Stamp Set on the card between the "h" and "l" and again on another sheet of smooth white cardstock. I also stamped the stocking cap from the Critters In the Arctic Stamp Set and colored in the images with Copic Markers (the individual colors I used are listed and linked below in the supplies). I fussy cut both images and adhered them to the card as shown. 

I added additional detailing to the scarf and hat with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Marker and Glossy Accents to thte beak to complete the penguin.

 

I finished the stamped design by stamping the snowflakes in coordinating ink colors and the word "happy" with SSS Slate Ink.

For my card share today I combined the Argyle Backdrops Stamp Set with the Sweater Weather Stamp Set for this sweet Hello card. 

I die cut some smooth white cardstock using the new Stitched Rectangles Dies and stamped the argyle pattern with Hero Arts Pumpkin Pie Ink, Simon Says Stamp Olive Ink and Simon Says Stamp Burnt Orange Ink using the Argyle Backdrops Stamp Set.

I die cut another larger layer of the Stitched Rectangles to layer over the stamped background and stamped the tree, leaves and greeting from the Sweater Weather Stamp Set with Versamark and heat embossed with multiple colors of embossing powder for a fun fall scene.

Some gold string and some sequin leaves complete the card.
