I shared a sneak of today's card share weeks ago on Instagram and I finally got around to finishing up the card this week!
I wanted to create a soft elegant feel with the design by combining the SSS Bouquet of Flowers Stencil with the butterflies from the SSS Butterflies Stamp Set and a greeting from the SSS More Sketchy Banners Stamp Set.
I started by applying Distress Inks with Ink Daubers through the SSS Bouquet of Flowers Stencil on Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper. I like using Daubers with stencils because the smaller foam applicator allows for a bit more control where the ink is applied. They're reusable too. I label mine and keep them in a sponge storage box making it easy to use them over and over again.
I spritzed the design with a Mini Mister filled with water to lightly waterspot the design.
The stenciled flowers were so pretty but I wanted to distress them up a bit. I applied Spun Sugar Distress Ink, Picked Raspberry Distress Ink, Bundled Sage Distress Ink and Forest Moss Distress Ink to the MFT Romantic Script Background Stamp. I stamped it off once on a scrap piece of paper and then stamped the entire thing over the stenciled flowers for a lighter second generation stamped background.
I added a decorative edge to the right side with the SSS Brackets Craft Die and matted the edge with some SSS Cotton Candy Cardstock die cut with the same die. I die cut the front panel of my card with the decorative edge as well and rounded all four corners of the card with a Corner Chomper.
I stamped the greeting from SSS More Sketchy Banners Stamp Set with Versamark and heat embossed the greeting with gold embossing powder. I die cut the design with the coordinating SSS Sketchy Banner Die and adhered the banner to my card.
I stamped the butterflied from SSS Butterflies Stamp Set using Distress Inks (I applied two colors of ink to the butterfly before stamping). Because these are Distress Inks and they work with water I immediately used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Marker to smooth out the Distress Inks and blend them before the ink dried. The result is pretty blended glittery butterflies.
I finished the card with some pearl gemstones.
