OPERATION WRITE HOME BLOG HOP FEAT. LAWN FAWN COLOR MY WORLD STAMP SET (VIDEO)

Welcome to my stop on the Operation Write Home Red Friday Bloghop! If you’ve gotten here without starting at the beginning, you’ll want to click HERE and start from the top. We’re turning “Black Friday” into “Red Friday” by supporting our nation’s heroes! 

Operation Write Home is a charity that sends blank handmade cards to service members deployed overseas. They’ve sent nearly 3 million cards! That’s a lot of letters and love heading home to those who are keeping the home fires burning. 

November through February are the slowest months for OWH, and that’s something we as crafters can do something about! We all have a handful of cards in our stash — we don’t even need to take a break from our holiday preparations to just write Operation Write Home on the back and send them in, right? That’ll keep our heroes busy writing home during a long winter away from home.

Be sure to read the information on the Stars and Stamps post so you send in what’s needed (no Christmas cards, no glitter, A2, etc) - and make a hero’s day by giving them a beautiful creation to write home on!

My card today not only is love-themed but it showcases Lawn Fawn's Black Friday Stamp Set, Color My World, that you can get free by spending $35 at Lawn Fawn!

I die cut some smooth white cardstock using a Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle die. I masked off the bottom and sides with post it tape and created a mask of the crayon from the Color My World MIni Stamp Set. I stamped and masked the crayons along the bottom edge and colored in the images and background with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked in supplies).

I added faces to two of the crayons (from Color My World and Let's Roll stamp sets) and colored them in with Copics as well, adding detail with my favorite black gel pen and white pen.

To create the shaker border I use the two largest stitched rectangles from the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle die collection and Large Stitched Rectangle die collection to create a thin frame from white cardstock. Then I die cut a transparency from the largest die and adhered it behind the frame. I added foam adhesive around all four sides of the frame, adhered the stamped and colored panel to the front of the transparency and added a strip of foam tape down the center behind that piece. I filled the shaker with Pretty Pink Posh sequins and confetti and adhered the whole thing to a white card base!

Mama Elephant Designer Series | PURRFECT PAIR "Happiness..." Card (video)

Today I have a Mama Elephant Designer Series card and video share showcasing the new Purrfect Pair Stamp Set and Purrfect Pair Creative Cuts dies. I also used the Heart Border Creative Cuts die and the polaroid frame and heart thought bubble from the Instalove Creative Cuts die collection.

I die cut three Heart Borders Creative Cuts from SSS Schoolhouse Red cardstock and adhered them on a white card base, trimming the ends as necessary.

I stamped the greeting from the Purrfect Pair Stamp Set above the heart borders with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink and stamped the pawprint with MFt Wild Herry Hybrid ink.

I die cut the polaroid frame from the Instalove Creative Cuts die collection from white cardstock, SSS Black cardstock, SSS Surf blue cardstock and SSS Green Apple cardstock. I layered the white frame on the black frame, slightly offset for an instant shadow. I die cut the SSS Green Apple cardstock with the Borderlines Trio Creative Cuts die collection to create a landscape for the scene inside the frame.

I stamped the cats from the Purrfect Pair Stamp Set on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them in with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are linked below in supplies). I die cut the cats with the coordinating Purrfect Pair Creative Cuts dies and adhered them inside the frame.

I die cut the heart bubble from the Instalove Creative Cuts die collection from SSS Schoolhouse Red cardstock and SSS Black cardstock, layering them like I did the frame. I die cut it again from silver glitter paper and glued the heart inside the thought bubble.

I finished the frame by stamping "meow" and another pawprint along the bottom and adding washi tape to "hold" the frame in place.

Simon Says Stamp December Card Kit Blog Hop (video & giveaway)

Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp December 2014 Card Kit Blog Hop!

The December Kit focuses on one of my all-time favorite stamping techniques: heat embossing! I've been heat embossing almost as long as I've been stamping. One of my very favorite mediums to heat emboss? Vellum. There is just something about an embossed sentiment or image on vellum that adds that extra "something" to a card or project. 

I also love the look of adding details to die cut images with heat embossing, like on my card share today!

I used the Balloons and Patterns Stencils as well as the Sparkle and Shine Stamp Set to create patterns on the die cut Balloons on my card.

I die cut the metallic silver cardstock from the December Kit using the stitched rectangle from the Bundle of Stitched Shapes die collection. I stamped the greeting from the Sparkle and Shine Stamp Set using the Distress Embossing Ink and embossed with the Platinum Embossing Powder. This color of embossing powder is one of my all-time favorites. It's gorgeous.

You need a good ink for heat embossing. And a good heat tool. And I love using a powder tool when heat embossing to keep the embossing powder on the stamped image (and nowhere else!).

I tied silver string to each of the balloons and wrapped it around to the back of the silver piece and secured them on the back.

 

A scattering of sequins adhered with Zots Bling Glue Dots complete the front of the card.

To finish my card I stamped another greeting from the Sparkle and Shine Stamp Set on the inside of the card with Distress Embossing Ink and embossed with the Platinum Embossing Powder.

MY FAVORITE THINGS | STENCILS 3 WAYS (VIDEO)

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I have four, yes four, cards to share with you! I've used the My Favorite Things Stencils to create four cards using three different techniques.

The first two cards I'm going to share with you showcases one of my favorite ways of using stencils: combining the stencil with embossing paste!

For this wedding-themed card I created a white on white background using the Petal Pattern Stencils and white embossing paste. I trimmed the embossing paste background (once it was dry, about fifteen minutes) to fit behind a Die-namics Rectangle Frames die cut. I die cut the Die-namics Bride and Groom die cuts and adhered them to the Petal Pattern Stencils background, stamped the greeting from the Together Forever Stamp Set on a piece of acetate using White Staz-On ink. I layered the acetate behind the Die-namics Rectangle Frames die cut and adhered the frame with foam tape.

This card is a variation of the same technique only this time I created a custom color of embossing paste by mixing some Brick Red Hybrid Ink with the white embossing paste and applying it over the Brick Wall Stencil for a great realistic looking brick wall background!

I stamped and Copic colored the supergirl from the You're Super Stamp Set and die cut her, the mask and the thought bubble using the coordinating You're Super Die-namics dies. I created a "sidewalk" for my heroine to stand on using a Blueprints 13 Die-namics collection die. I stamped and embossed the greeting from the You're Super Stamp Set on the vellum die cut and used the Die-namics Rectangle Frames die cut to frame up the fun superhero scene!

I finished my scene with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

For this next card, I airbrushed the Stargaze Stencil using the Tim Holtz Spritzer airbrush tool and Distress Markers. I die cut a stitched rectangle using the Blueprints 13 Die-namics collection die and colored in the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and Salty Ocean Distress Ink using the Mini Ink Blending Tool. Then I placed the Stargaze Stencil over the top and created a tone-on-tone stary sky effect by airbrushing with the same distress colors, only using the markers!

I stamped the greeting from the Bold Statements Stamp Set using the Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I die cut the round balloon from the Party Balloons Die-namics collection three times and stamped the round balloon from the Party Balloons Stamp Set on each using Wild Cherry Hybrid Ink, Lemon Drop Hybrid Ink and Orange Fizz Hybrid Ink. I stamped the balloon strings from the Party Balloons Stamp Set, masking off the greeting and popped the balloons up with foam adhesive. Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen gives the balloons a bit of sparkle!

The third way I'm showing how to use My Favorite Things Stencils is with spray mist. I used the Studio Calico Silver Mister Huey with the Stone Wall Stencil for a subtle tone-on-tone background for this fun anniversary card. I love the way the pattern give the background some much needed "texture" and interest without overpowering the design and sentiment.

After I misted the pattern through the stencil and allowed it to air dry, I die cut a panel for my card front using a Blueprints 13 Die-namics collection die. I stamped and embossed the greeting from the Together Forever Stamp Set and die cut hearts from Bubblegum Felt and Razzle Berry Felt using the Staggered Heart Border Die-namics dies. I handstitched the felt hearts in place using a thick white thread.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Balloon Letters and Balloon Etcetera (video)

I am absolutely loving the new Mama Elephant Balloon Letters and Balloon Etcetera stamp sets! I created an almost one-layer birthday card for my nephew using the stamps from this kit, a panda from Pandamonium and addtional stamped greeting from Happy Everything. Simple Copic Coloring for the background brings the entire scene together!

I die cut a piece of smooth white cardstock using the large stitched rectangle from the Peek A Frames Creative Cuts die collection. Even though this is basically a one-layer card, I didn't want any of the Copic markers I used for the background to bleed through to the inside of my card. By stamping and coloring on this die cut rectangle I can adhere this to the card and not worry about it!

I stamped one of the panda's from Pandamonium using MFT Hybrid Black Licorice Ink. I stamped the balloons with Fresh Mint Pigment Ink, Buttercup Pigment Ink, Lemongrass Pigment Ink and Orangeade Pigment Ink using the Balloon Letters and Balloon Etcetera stamp sets. 

I created a cloud background and green landscape using Copic markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies). Once the background was dry I drew in balloon strings with a fine tip black pen.

I added an additional stamped greeting using the Happy Everything stamp set. I added a bit of sparkle to the balloons with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Cross My Heart (video)

Today I have a love-themed shaker card showcasing not only the fabulous new Cross My Heart greeting stamp set but the Purrfect Pair Stamp Set and Purrfect Pair Creative Cuts dies as well! I used the large stitched rectangle from the Peek A Frames Creative Cuts die collection and the stitched rectangle from the Basic Set Creative Cuts die collection to create my frame as well as the inside panel of my shaker. The stitched rounded edge border from the Borderlines Trio Creative Cuts die collection made the perfect landscape for these sweet kitties!

I stamped the kittens and bottle of milk from the Purrfect Pair Stamp Set on Neenah smooth white cardstock  using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored in the images with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies). I stamped the straws with MFT Wild Cherry Hybrid Ink and die cut all the images with the coordinating Purrfect Pair Creative Cuts dies.

I die cut the background for my card from SSS Sea Glass Cardstock using the stitched rectangle from the Basic Set Creative Cuts die collection. I die cut SSS Green Leaf Cardstock using the same die and then die cut a landscape from it using the Borderlines Trio Creative Cuts die collection.

I die cut the frame for the shaker from Doodlebug Kraft In Color 6x6 patterned paper using the large stitched rectangle from the Peek A Frames Creative Cuts die collection and the stitched rectangle from the Basic Set Creative Cuts die collection. I die cut a transparency using the arge stitched rectangle from the Peek A Frames Creative Cuts die collection and adhered it behind the frame. I added two layers of foam tape around the back of the frame and filled the shaker with Pretty Pink Posh Silver Heart Confetti, Raspberry 4mm Sequins and Sparkling Clear 4mm Sequins.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Happy Everything (video)

Today I have a new one-layer card to share featuring the awesome new Mama Elephant Happy Everything Stamp Set! I used the round balloon from the Balloons Etcetera Stamp Set and the balloon tail and curly cue from the Party Kit Stamp Set to make this fun, versatile card.

I love the Happy Everything Stamp Set for creating customized greetings that work for almost any happy occassion! This card could work for a new baby girl, a wedding, a bridal or baby shower, anniversary, or birthday! 

I started this one-layer card by stamping the script word "happy" from the Happy Everything Stamp Set using Moonlight Pigment Ink. 

Next I stamped the round balloon from the Balloons Etcetera Stamp Set using the Plumberry Pigment Ink, Tutti Frutti Pigment Ink and Piggy Bank Pigment Ink. I added balloon strings with Moonlight Pigment Ink using the Party Kit Stamp Set.

I stamped over the word "happy" using the Smoke Pigment Ink. The lighter ink created a nice shadow for the greeting. I finished the greeting by adding the words "oh" and "day" with Dark Storm Pigment Ink.

I finished the card with Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear 6mm Sequins and 4mm Sequins and rounded the corners of the card with the 1/2" corner rounder.

Paper Doll Art Journaling with Julie Nutting Doll Stamps & November Card Kit Leftovers (video)

Today I'm sharing another entry in my paper doll art journal, this one featuring the awesome boy paper doll Aidan and one of the newer girl stamps, Keira, Simon the dog plus a wintery snow scene adorned with leftovers from the November 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit (this kit is sold out but many of the products are available for purchase individually and are linked below in the supplies). Creating art journal pages is one of my favorite ways to "use up" leftovers from the card kits every month. I adore the Lawn Fawn Snow Day papers in this kit. Some of my favorites!

I stamped the Prima Julie Nutting Aidan Paper Doll Stamp and Prima Julie Nutting Keira Paper Doll Stamp on text background patterned paper and colored in their skin and hair with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies).

I stamped the dolls again on several of the Lawn Fawn Snow Day patterned papers and fussy cut them, paper piecing the "clothing" together. I added shading with gray Copic Markers to give the clothing depth and dimension to match the dolls. I added some pearl gemstones and the cute enamel bow to the girl doll's dress for a sweet finishing touch.

I stamped the stocking hat from the Prima Hats 2 Mixed Media Stamps on the Lawn Fawn Snow Day patterned papers, fussy cut the pieces and paper pieced together the hat for the girl.

For the girl's shoes, I colored them in with my favorite black gel marker.

I used one of the Lawn Fawn Snow Day Collection patterned papers for my page background and die cut "snow" from white cardstock and vellum using the Stitched Hillside Borders Dies.

I stamped one of the phrases from the Mama Elephant Alpine Carolers Stamp Set on the background of my page and added an enamel heart sticker below it.

Like all my art journal pages for 2014 I've added Simon the dog from the Seasonal Simon Stamp Set to my page. I colored him with Copic Markers and added Glossy Accents to his eyes and nose. Using the text paper for Simon helps tie him in with the dolls and the rest of the page desgin. I adorned him with one of the bow enamel stickers as well to complete the page design.
