Welcome to Day 4 of my last minute Handmade Holiday 2014 Series!
This week is flying by, isn't it?!!!! So far this week, I've shared elegant monogram tags (that perfectly match today's pretty packages, don't you think?), cute goodie/treat bags (one of my blog readers, Sharon, is making them up for all her grand kids....how awesome is that?!!!!), zipper panel cards for giving gift cards (be sure to follow me on Instagram HERE where I shared another idea for a zipper panel card) and today we are going to make up a few packages themselves!
I adore little packages. I mean, come on... jewelry usually comes in packages just like this! (hint, hint husband....)
Sometimes you just need a tiny box or package for a gift and those little boxes at the store can be pricey or finding exactly what you’re looking is a challenge. With Kerri Bradford's cut files, you can make exactly what you want in a snap! Even better? If you short on time and don’t want to mess with adding extra frills, Kerri has pillow boxes and gift card files that are all pre-made. All you have to do is print and cut! How awesome is that?!!!! Be sure to check out her The Pillow Box Kit and Gift Card Tearaway Envelope Kit for those files.
All this week I'll be sharing quick (an hour or less) Handmade Holiday ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I have 5 die cut pretty packages created in under a hour).... gotta love that!
For this little set of elegant gift packaging, I used three of Kerri’s packaging designs (the small box, the pillow box and petal envelope) to create a coordinating group of pretty packages! I used the basic cut files (no print and cut) and then decorated them with little bits of this and that from my craft stash! I even die cut the pretty gold bow (consider cutting a bunch of these to have on hand to adhere to packages….if you’re like me you tend to forget bows and run out halfway through wrapping!) and a gold snowflake to add to the theme of the set of packages.
The pillow box is from Kerri's The Pillow Box Kit and the small box, snowflake and bow are all from her Santa's Workshop Kit.
Want some super fast, super easy, but professional-looking tags and labels in no time? The MFT Christmas Labels and Tags Stamp Set and coordinating MFT Label and Tag Die-namics are fantastic! I die cut the label and tag from MFT Whip Cream cardstock and stamped the coordinating stamp designs on the tags with Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz Ink.
I love Doodlebug Designs. Have for years. They have the whole rainbow family of little mini clothes pins and even have them in metallics. The little gold clips are perfect to hold the stamped and die cut labels on the packages.
Measurements for my pretty packages:
- the little box measures 3" x 3" x 1.5"
- the pillow box measures 5" x 3" x 2"
- the petal envelope measures 3.5" square
I know we are all short on time during the holiday season. All five of these went together in less than an hour! You can add as much or as little as you want and the best part? You can cut the boxes/packages in any color you want!
Tip: To get a bigger box, un-group the box (top and bottom) and cut each from a separate sheet of 12x12 paper! You’ll get a much bigger box perfect for lots of other kinds of gifts!
Looking for ideas on what to tuck into these fun little packages? Here are a few ideas:
- truffles (the mini boxes)
- candy (boxes or pillow boxes)
- a decorated sugar cookie (petal envelope)
- gift cards (pillow box, petal envelope)
- jewelry (any of the packages)
- lip gloss, little makeup packages (mini box or pillow box)
- nail polish, body lotion, etc. (pillow box)
Happy Holidays die cutters!
Don't have a Silhouette? (I hope Santa puts one under the tree for you....) Here are some similar dies for our manual die cutting machines and even punch boards which don't require a machine of any kind. Pillow boxes, little boxes and more. Good stuff. And you don't even have to be able to use a computer to make them! ;)
