Welcome to Day 2 of my last minute Handmade Holiday 2014 Series!
I know many of you are super organized and are all ready but for those of you who have procrastinated like me still have a few things to do (I'm still wrapping up those gifts....), I hope this series gives you inspiration and ideas on adding that handmade touch we all love quickly and easily whether it be the packaging or a pretty gift card or the gift itself! And, hey, if you're all ready to go, start thinking ahead to Valentine's Day. Switch out the reindeer on today's project with a cute hedgehog or another critter, add a heart or two, stamp a love-themed greeting and you're ready for heart day! ;)
All this week I'll be sharing quick (an hour or less) Handmade Holiday ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I have 3 mini goodie treat bags created in under a hour).... gotta love that!
Before I get started with today's project I wanted to let you know that some of my favorite storage solutions are featured on the Simon Says Stamp Blog HERE. Be sure to hop on over there and check it out and leave a comment for a chance to win some blog candy! (We all could use more chances to win this season, right?!!!!).
DECORATED TREAT BAGS
Yesterday I created more sophisticated or elegant monogram gift tags that would be great for adults, older kids, etc. Today I wanted to focus on the younger gift recipients on our gift-giving lists (or the older ones....these could be for anybody... ;)). These little treat bags would be perfect filled with little gifts for our littlest ones: think a mini lego figure package (those mystery ones would fit perfectly), a little lip gloss set or nail polish and mini emery boards, matchbox cars, iTunes gift cards or any other gift card, even little packages of sweets and candy. :)
I love the little Lawn Fawn Goodie Bag Lawn Cuts die. It is so stinkin' cute and it's super versatile.
***Check out THESE Halloween Goodie Bags I created or THESE coffee gift card bags for more ideas on how to use this awesome die.***
To create the bags, I first die cut all three goodie bags from SSS Khaki Cardstock using the LF Goodie Bag Lawn Cuts die. I also die cut the largest wplus9 Timeless Tag die from Neenah White Cardstock and SSS Green Leaf Cardstock.
With the die cutting finished, I next stamped the greeting from the MFT Jingle All The Way Stamp Set on the flat goodie bag (don't fold it up until all the stamping is done. Trust me on this! ;)) using Versamark Ink and heat embossing with red embossing powder. Next, I stamped the entire bag with the MFT Confetti Background Stamp using SSS White Pigment Ink. The embossed greeting resists the stamping. Set the bags aside while you work on the tags.
I stamped borders from the SSS Tiny Tags Stamp Set along the top and bottom of the die cut tags using MFT Wild Cherry Hybrid Ink and SSS Green Leaf Ink. I stamped the reindeer from the MFT Jingle All The Way Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him in with Copic Markers (the individual colors are listed and linked below in supplies). I added white and black dot detail to the image with the Sakura Black Gel Pen and White Gel Pen. I stamped "to" and "from" on the green die cut tags using the LF Birthday Wishes Stamp Set and the SSS White Pigment Ink. I adhered the white and green tags back to back.
I assembled the goodie bags. I find it easier to use a bone folder to make sure you get really good creases and folds. It makes assembling the treat bags much easier! ***I used my old bone folder but I recently saw the teflon bone folder in use and ordered it....it's a bit pricey but it's worth it. It will be the only one I use from now on!***
I added some green sweater trim ribbon (from Stampin' Up a few years back) to the top of the bag. I threaded two jingle bells on some thin white string and knotted them together, then threaded the tag onto the string, knotting the ends. I threaded the tag through the sweater trim and tied the sweater trim in a bow to complete the goodie bags!

These are the cutest little bags. Anything tiny can fit into them. And being handmade is all the more special. I have decided to purchase the treat bag die after the holidays are over due to budget restrictions right now. But just in time for Valentines Celebrations. Thanks Nichol for your tips and the supply list always helps me.
