Welcome to Day 3 of my last minute Handmade Holiday 2014 Series!
I bet we all are giving at least one gift card this year, right?!!! While gift cards aren't the most fun thing to wrap the traditional way you can get creative with your crafty supplies and make the presentation and packaging for your gift cards something extraordinary!
The treat bags I shared yesterday HERE are the perfect size for gift cards but how about another way you can give a gift card? Today I'm sharing how to use the Ellen Essentials Zipper Panel Die to create a card where the gift card is completely hidden inside and the recipient has to tear it open to see what's inside! I'm using this die for Christmas gift giving, but it's also perfect for birthdays, teachers, thank you's and more! Anytime you want to send a gift card, consider creating a card using the Ellen Essentials Zipper Panel Die! It's super fun!
All this week I'll be sharing quick (an hour or less) Handmade Holiday ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I have 3 zipper panel gift card holders created in under a hour).... gotta love that!
I die cut the Ellen Essentials Zipper Panel Die from MFT Whip Cream Cardstock and SSS Slate Cardstock. I trimmed down the gray cardstock just inside the scored and die cut lines to create a gray panel for the inside of the card.
On the gray panel (making sure to have it flipped the right way for when you open up the zipper panel) I stamped a Christmas phrase from the SSS Peace On Earth Stamp Set using the SSS White Pigment Ink. I flipped the panel over and stamped "for you" from the SSS Envelope Sentiments Stamp Set using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.
I die cut a back panel for my card using the largest LF Stitched Rectangle die cut from SSS Slate Cardstock. Making sure to stamp on what will be the back of the card, I stamped a border and phrase from the SSS Made By Stamp Set using the SSS White Pigment Ink.
I flipped the back panel over and hand wrote a message in the middle of the panel using the Sakura White Gel Pen. Then I laid a gift card over the handwritten message and applied adhesive around all four edges. I lined up the front panel and adhered it over the back panel, sandwiching the gift card between the two.
To decorate the front panel I die cut two tags from vellum and silver foil paper using the SSS Large Tags die. I attached the two with white silk ribbon with silver jingle bells threaded through and tied the ribbon in a bow.
I stamped a greeting from the SSS Merry Trees Stamp Set on the vellum tag using Versamark Ink. I heat embossed the greeting with Platinum embossing powder.
I die cut the Ellen Essentials Laurel Wreath from green foil paper and adhered it around the embossed greeting. I die cut the Ellen Essentials Prize Stag from silver glitter paper and adhered it over the wreath with foam adhesive.
A look at the inside of the card when opened! Isn't that cool?!!!!
