When I saw the car with the tree strapped to the hood from Kerri’s new Santa’s Workshop Class I thought it would make the perfect Christmas-themed card. It got me to thinking if Kerri had any other vehicle images and of course, she does! The Going Places Kit has an awesome van that I thought would be super cute with her Hollyberry Wreath and and a bow from her Big Red Bow Kit. I wanted a way to “frame up” these fun holiday vehicle scenes so I grabbed the postcard edged frame from her Life Additions #2 Kit and created an inlay-style frame to really showcase the die cut vehicles. I did an offset of the inside cut-line of the frame, giving me 3 cuts and 3 pieces to create the inlay (the red outer border, dark grey tiny border and the inside white piece).
Kits Used:
- Santa’s Workshop (car, tree)
- Life Additions #2 (postcard frame)
- Hollyberry Wreath
- Big Red Bow
- Going Places (van)
To really “dress up” the die cuts I grabbed some of my favorite Impression Obsession Cover-A-Card background stamps and added some tone-on-tone texture to the die cut pieces. I love these large sized background stamps because they work on really large background (or in this case die cuts!).
I gave the vehicles a little more dimension by cutting the pieces again from black cardstock and layering the individual elements on each, slightly offset and then assembling the scenes. I popped up the vehicles with a bit of foam adhesive, adding some finishing touches with enamel dots, string and a glitter pen and finished each card with a stamped greeting!
For the van card, I stamped the white background with the Impression Obsession Gradation Cover-A-Card Background using MFT Grout Gray Ink. I love that the MFT Grout Gray Ink is so light that it only adds texture and not a ton of color. In this case, perfect for a "snowy" background!
I stamped the greeting from the wplus9 Merriest Wishes Stamp Set using MFT Wild Cherry and MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Inks.
I stamped the gray part of the van with the Impression Obsession Herringbone Cover-a-Card Background using SSS Slate Gray Ink and the aqua part of the van with the Impression Obsession Screen Cover-a-Card Background using MFT Blu Raspberry Hybrid Ink.
I adhered the Hollyberry Wreath and and a bow from her Big Red Bow Kit to the van. I added a layer of clear glitter to the bow using the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and finished the van by adding enamel dots for headlights.
For the car with the tree strapped to the hood I again stamped the white background with the Impression Obsession Gradation Cover-A-Card Background using MFT Grout Gray Ink.
I stamped a greeting from the wplus9 Merry Little Christmas Stamp Set using MFT Wild Cherry and MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Inks.
I stamped the die cut tree with the Impression Obsession Canvas Cover-a-Card Background using MFT Gumdrop Green Hybrid Ink and the car with the Impression Obsession Screen Cover-a-Card Background using MFT Blu Raspberry Hybrid Ink. I "tied" the tree to the car with some Pretty Pink Posh White Twine and added enamel dots to the tires.

Those are adorable! I have a friend who has a VW van and that card would be perfect for her. I may have to dust off my Silhouette machine and get busy.
