Happy weekend and last day of January 2015!

I'm continuing with my Paper Doll Art Journaling Series and kicking it off with my January 2015 page featuring leftovers from the January 2015 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I wanted to create a winter-ish scene with the amazing Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 patterned papers. I chose the gorgeous Julie Nutting Aurora Paper Doll Stamp for my January page and gave her some cute critters admirers from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair Stamp Set, Lawn Fawn Hello Baby Stamp Set and Avery Elle More Stories Stamp Set.

To create my page I stamped the Julie Nutting Aurora Paper Doll Stamp on the Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 purple snowflake 6x6 paper and cut out the dress. I added shading with Copic Markers BV23, BV25 and C00. I went over the entire dress with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker. I stamped the image again on the white text Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 patterned paper and cut out the gloves, adding shading with Cool Gray Copic Markers. I stamped the entire doll again on text paper and colored in her skin and hair with Copic Markers. I stamped the image on some Bazzill Silver Metallic Cardstock, cut it out and adhered it to the doll. I cut the paper doll out and added the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker to the crown, then applied a layer of Glossy Accents and set the doll aside.

I created the backgroud using the leftover Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 patterned papers. I die cut snow drifts for the bottom of the design using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders dies. I adhered the doll to the background, embellishing her outfit with the Julie Nutting Say It With Crystals "jewelry" (coming soon to Simon Says Stamp).

I stamped the phrase "Live Creatively" from an old Studio Calico scrapbook kit on the background using Versamark Ink and heat set the phrase with Simon Says Stamp White Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I added small clear gemstones to the centers of the snowflakes on the background paper.

I stamped the kitty from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair Stamp Set, the bunny from the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby Stamp Set and the fox from the Avery Elle More Stories Stamp Set on a scrap of text paper and colored in the images with Copic Markers. I fussy cut each and adhered them to the page.

I finished the page by stamping the date using a date stamp.

Lawn Fawn | Distress Marker Watercolor Card (video)

I'm over on the Lawn Fawn Blog again today playing with watercolor techniques for this sweet hedgehog love-themed card. I combined the Hedgehugs Stamp Set, Hello Sunshine Stamp Set and Critters in the Forest Stamp Set for this sweet critter card.

To create my card, I die cut watercolor paper using a Stitched Rectangle die.

I stamped the hedgehog from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set and the tree stump from the Critters in the Forest Stamp Set using Antique Linen Distress Ink. By using the light color ink I eliminated the black outline but I still had a nice stamped guideline to follow for watercoloring.

I used Distress Markers (the individual marker colors are linked below in supplies), water, and a small paintbrush to paint the stamped images. I stamped the balloons and balloon strings from the Hello Sunshine Stamp Set and painted them the same way. Once the images were dry (you can speed that up by using a heat tool), I applied water to the "sky" of the stamped scene and then applied the Tumbled Glass Distress Marker color to the paper with a larger paintbrush. For the ground below the tree stump, I applied Pumice Stone Distress Ink Marker with a paintbrush. Once the image was dry, I created grass with a small paintbrush and the Mowed Lawn Distress Ink Marker.

I added small stamped hearts from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set and Hello Sunshine Stamp Set with the Worn Lipstick Distress Ink Marker and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink Marker, using a damp paintbrush to smooth out the color and fill in the hearts.

I stamped the greeting from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set along the bottom of the rectangle using Simon Says Stamp Black Dye Ink.

I die cut some Let's Polka 6x6 Paper with the A2 size Stitched Rectangle die and adhered it to a white card base. I adhered the watercolored rectangle to the card and added Doodlebug washi tape to "hold" it in place. I finished the card with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix sequins and tiny clear gemstones.

LAWN FAWN | "You Are The Apple of My Eye" Card (video)

Today I have a fun Valentine's-themed card perfect for a teacher!

To create my card, I stamped the chalkboard from the A Good Apple Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock. I stamped the apple from the My Silly Valentine Stamp Set, masked off the apple with masking paper and then stamped the apple from A Good Apple Stamp Set to give the illusion that the smaller apple is slightly behind the larger one. I stamped the eraser from the A Good Apple Stamp Set and then colored in the images with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies). To make the chalkboard appear to have been erased I used the chisel tip on the warm gray Copic markers to draw lines back and forth to fill in the image. I used the W00 warm gray marker to add dots of "color". Because the lighter color contains more of the blending solution it "wicks away" the darker color leaving little splotches across the chalkboard. I love the realistic look these two techniques give to the design.

I stamped the greeting from the My Silly Valentine Stamp Set with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

I die cut the stamped and colored image using one of the Large Stitched Rectangle dies and matted the panel on black cardstock die cut with one of the Small Stitched Rectangle dies.

I adhered the stitched rectangles to a white card base and finished the design by die cutting hearts from SSS Schoolhouse Red Cardstock using the Heart dies. I added Glossy Accents to the hearts for subtle dimension and a layer of shine!

Mama Elephant Designer Series | Stitched Sky Creative Cuts (video)

Today I'm sharing a shaker card featuring the brand new Stitched Sky Creative Cuts dies.

I wanted to create a sky full of stars to compliment the stamped greeting from the Shooting Star Stamp Set and the largest star in the Stitched Sky Creative Cuts die collection makes for a fun way to add multiple shakers to a single card!

To create my card, I first die cut a piece of white cardstock using the stitched rectangle die from the Basic Set Creative Cuts and then die cut the stitched star from the Stitched Sky Creative Cuts multiple times from the rectangle.

I stamped a greeting from the Shooting Star Stamp Set along the bottom edge of the rectangle using black ink.

I backed the rectangle with a transparency die cut using the same Basic Set Creative Cuts and then placed foam adhesive around each star, creating individual shakers. I filled each shaker with a different color of seed beads and then backed the shaker with another Basic Set Creative Cuts die cut rectangle.

To finish the card I die cut clouds from vellum using the Stitched Sky Creative Cuts and stars from metallic and glitter papers. For a bit of variety, I die cut smaller stars from the same papers using the Lots of Stars Creative Cuts dies. I adhered the shaker to a card base to complete the design.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Shooting Star (video)

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the new Shooting Star Stamp Set and coordinating Shooting Star Creative Cuts dies. The new Stitched Sky Creative Cuts coordinate perfectly with the Shooting Star Stamp Set and I love how they add to the design of my card today.

to create the background for my card, I applied Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to a piece of A2 sized watercolor paper using the Mini Ink Blending Tools. I blended the colors until I go the desired "night sky" look I was going for. To distress the background, I added water droplets with a Mini Mister and then with a paintbrush dipped in water to really get a distressed look. I set the background aside to dry while I stamped the girl from the Shooting Star Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored her in with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are linked below in supplies).

I die cut the girl with the coordinating Shooting Star Creative Cuts die. I die cut the clouds and moon from white cardstock using the Stitched Sky Creative Cuts. I added color to the moon with Wild Honey Distress  Ink applied using the Mini Ink Blending Tool.

I stamped the greeting and small stars from the Shooting Star Stamp Set on the inked background using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with SSS Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

I adhred the clouds to the card with foam adhesive, adhered the girl and moon and finished the card with a bit of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker over the moon, the girls dress, and hair bow.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Merci (video)

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the new Merci Stamp Set. I created a set of three almost single layer thank you cards by combining the Merci Stamp Set with the Sew Fancy Creative Cuts dies and the Many Thanks Stamp Set.

To create these cards I first die cut white cardstock usin the large A2 sized die from the Sew Fancy Creative Cuts dies. I stamped the "thank you" greeting from the Merci Stamp Set using the ME Dark Storm Pigment Ink. I stamped a coordinating thank you phrase underneath from the Many Thanks Stamp Set.

I stamped the florals and leaves from the Merci Stamp Set using ME Lemongrass Pigment Ink, ME Tutti Frutti Pigment Ink, ME Sweet Lilac Pigment Ink, and ME Fresh Mint Pigment Ink.

I added an enamel dot to the center of each floral to finish the cards.

Try recreating these cards with the other sentiments in the Merci Stamp Set and other color combinations for completely different looks!

The Better Together Release is full of amazing love-themed stamps and dies that work for lots of different occasions. This release celebrates life. Sharing hugs, sharing love, spending time together, giggling, laughing, expressing how much we care for each other are great ways to celebrate our lives. Even though we are often physically far apart from our friends and family, we can connect through words and cards are such a delightful way for us to reach out to one another.

To create my card I stamped the kites from the Soaring For You Stamp Set using SSS Doll Pink Ink, SSS Hot Lips Ink, SSS Schoolhouse Ink and Hero Arts Bubblegum Ink. I stamped the clouds from the Soaring For You Stamp Set using using SSS Sea Glass Ink and the kite strings with SSS Black Ink. I die cut all the images with the coordinating Heart Soars dies.

For the background of my card I applied Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and Salty Ocean Distress Ink to watercolor paper using the Mini Ink Blending Tool. I added water droplets with a paintbrush and let the background air dry. Once dry I stamped the greeting from the Soaring For You Stamp Set using SSS Black Ink.

I stamped the hearts from the Soaring For You Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with rouge embossing powder.

I adhered all the stamped and die cut images with foam adhesive and rounded the corners with a 1/4" corner rounder.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Surprise Sentiments (video) + True Scrap 6 SALE

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the brand new Surprise Sentiments Stamp Set. This is a fabulous greeting stamp set that coordinates perfectly with the Tiny Heroes stamp set as well as any of your other Mama Elephant stamps!

My favorite greeting from this sentiment set? "It's OK to shake me". Perfect for all those shaker cards we're making, right?!!!!

To create this shaker card, I die cut the SSS Doll Pink Cardstock using two of the Sew Fancy Creative Cuts dies to make the "frame" for my shaker. I die cut a circle from SSS Cotton Candy cardstock to use on the inside and die cut two more circles from white cardstock and vellum. I die cut the white and vellum circles using the "clouds" Landscape Borders Creative Cuts die and adhered the clouds to the SSS Cotton Candy circle.

I stamped the greetings from the Surprise Sentiments Stamp Set on the front of my shaker frame using Versamark Ink. I embossed the greetings with SSS Fine Detail White embossing powder.

I stamped the images from the Tiny Heroes stamp set on Neenah Solar White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored in the images with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are linked below the thumbnails below in supplies). I die cut the images with the coordinating Tiny Heroes Creative Cuts dies and adhered them to the card as shown.

I die cut the stitched frame from vellum using the Sew Fancy Creative Cuts and adhered it behind the front frame. I applied two layers of foam tape, filled the shaker with cardstock die cut stars made using the Lots of Stars Creative Cuts die and some Pretty Pink Posh silver star sequins. I adhered the card base to the shaker to complete the design.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Tiny Heroes (video)

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is showcasing the brand new Tiny Heroes Stamp Set and coordinating Tiny Heroes Creative Cuts dies.

To create my card I die cut a piece of vellum with the largest A2 sized Sew Fancy Creative Cuts die and adhered it to a white card base. I love the subtle stitching design for the background of my card.

Next I die cut some SSS Lavender Cardstock using another rectangle and the largest circle Sew Fancy Creative Cuts dies. I die cut the circle again from SSS Blue Violet Cardstock and adhered it to the vellum on the card base. I die cut the Cityscape Creative Cuts die from SSS Slate Cardstock and adhered it over the bottom half of the SSS Blue Violet die cut circle.

I stamped some of the stars from the Tiny Heroes Stamp Set on the circle with Versamark Ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

I stamped the greeting from the Tiny Heroes Stamp Set using SSS Blue Violet Ink and SSS Slate Gray Ink. I adhered the frame to the card base with foam adhesive.

I stamped the girl and cat from the Tiny Heroes Stamp Set on Neenah Solar White Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored in the images with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are linked below the thumbnails in the supplies below). I die cut the images with the coordinating Tiny Heroes Creative Cuts dies and adhered the images to the card as shown.

I finished the design with die cut stars created with the new Lots of Stars Creative Cuts die.
