Welcome to the Lawn Fawn Fawny Holiday Week!
Today I'm sharing one of my most requested cards ever: the Merry and Bright bunnies card from THIS blog post from 2014. At the time I didn't make a video for this card and after many, many requests I thought I'd re-create it for my viewers (and the Lawn Fawn viewers as well!). While I had all the supplies out to create my card, I decided to go ahead and create four more cards using other Lawn Fawn critters. Fifty-five stamped and die cut trees later I had five vellum layered winter scene critter holiday cards!
This card design is a great design to create assembly line style. It takes a bit of work to get all the elements ready for assembly, but once you have them all stacked up and ready to go, they go together easily.
The addition of the vellum gives the illusion to a snowy forest. One simple layer makes all the difference with this card design.
To create these cards I stamped the bunnies from the Snow Day Stamp Set; the reindeer, sled, snowballs, and penquins from the Toboggan Together Stamp Set; the bunny on the sled from the Winter Bunny Stamp Set; and alpaca from the Winter Alpaca Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Ink. I colored in the images with Prismacolor Colored Pencils and blended the pencil lines with Gamsol. (The individual colored pencil numbers are listed along the bottom of the screen in the how to video tutorial.) I die cut the images with the coordinating Snow Day Dies, Toboggan Together Dies, Winter Bunny Dies, and Winter Alpaca Dies. Definition was added to the eyes and noses on some of the critters with the Sakura Black Glaze Pen and white dots were added with the Sakura White Gel Pen.
I stamped fifty-five of the tree image from the Snow Day Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using Hero Arts Soft Olive Ink and Simon Says Stamp Olive Ink. Then I die cut the trees with the coordinating Snow Day Dies.
For the background layers, I die cut 10 rectangles from smooth white cardstock using a Large Stitched Rectangle Die. From five of the rectangles, I die cut two snowy borders using Stitched Hillside Borders Dies. I die cut five rectangles from vellum using a Small Stitched Rectangle Die. On the vellum border, I stamped greetings from the Snow Day Stamp Set, Toboggan Together Stamp Set, and the Winter Alpaca Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed the greetings with gold embossing powder. I stamped snowflakes from theToboggan Together Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
To put the scenes together:
- I adhered a snowy border to the white rectangle using foam adhesive.
- Then I tucked six of the trees along the border.
- The vellum layer was attached with another layer of foam adhesive along the bottom (to hide the adhesive).
- Next, the other snowy border was attached on top of the vellum.
- The five remaining trees and the critters/images were attached to the design.
- Finally, I attached the entire panel to a side fold card base.
