Welcome to Day 7 of my last minute Handmade Holiday 2015 Series!
I'm back with another year of last minute handmade ideas! Even with the craziness of the season I like to be able to add handmade touches to gifts for our friends and family. All this week I'll be sharing quick (an hour or less) Handmade Holiday ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I created a set of 3 reindeer spinner tags)!
In addition to sharing Handmade Holiday projects all week, I am extending this year's series by two days for a total of seven days of inspiration! Plus, I am especially excited to share that after reaching out to several companies and online stores, there are amazing GIVEAWAYS each and every day!
REINDEER GAMES SPINNER TAGS
Today is the last day of the series! I want to thank each and every one of you who joined me this past week and a give a HUGE shout out and thank you to my amazing sponsors: Ellen Hutson, Simon Says Stamp, Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant, Kerri Bradford Studio, Bella Blvd and Pretty Pink Posh! Thank you for the amazing prizes all week long!
My tags today are an idea that I've had in my head for awhile but when Mama Elephant came out with these adorable Reindeer Games Stamps and dies I finally knew how I could create these double sided images for spinner gift tags! These interactive spinner tags are fun for every age and would make great ornaments or decorations after the recipient has opened their gift!
To create the reindeer spinners, I stamped six images from the Reindeer Games Stamp Set on Bristol smooth cardstock using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. I colored in the images with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and let them dry completely before die cutting with the coordinating Reindeer Games Dies. We will be using the "front" and "back" images back to back to make three spinners. I added detail to the eyes with the Sakura Black Glaze Pen and white dots to the faces with the Sakura White Gel Pen.
I applied double side adhesive to each side of the reindeer and sandwiched DMC Gold Metallic thread between the two layers and set them aside to work on the tags.
For the tags, I used a tag from the Tags A Lot Die Collection and a circle from the Sew Fancy Die Collection to create the front and back of the tags (cut these six times for three tags). I also cut three tag toppers from watercolor cardstock using a die from the Tags A Lot Die Collection.
On the three tag fronts, I applied Festive Berries Distress Ink with the Ink Blending Tool, then spritzed the tags with water in a Distress Sprayer (my new favorite distressing tool!). I let the water droplets sit for approximately 30 seconds and then blotted them with a dry paper towel and let the tags air dry.
On the tag backs, I stamped "to" and "from" from the Mama Elephant Confetti Stamp Set using Lawn Fawn Lobster Red Ink. Once the tag fronts were dry I stamped a greeting from the Mama Elephant Jingle Greetings Stamp Set with Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Ink.
I sandwiched the reindeer games spinner between the two tags with double side adhesive and ran the entire spinner tag through the Big Shot to smoosh the elements together and flatten them. This will really help the spinner and tag stay together.
I adhered the tag topper to each tag, punched a hole with the Crop-a-dile and threaded through Lawn Fawn Sweetheart Twine threaded with gold jingle bells and finished each tag with some white silk ribbon tied in a bow between the two bells. Glossy Accents on the reindeer noses gives glossy dimensional shine.
