I'm so excited about the January release from Mama Elephant. The new Oh Happy Birds Stamps and coordinating dies are perfect for everything from weddings, to anniversaries, and even Valentine's Day! I paired these adorable birds with the new Happy Valentine's Day greeting die cut and the Dotted Detail skinny frame and heart die cut for a Valentine's themed card share. Distress Inks provide a great interesting background as well as add color to the die cut greeting!
I die cut the Dotted Detail skinny frame (and inside solid rectangle) from watercolor cardstock twice. From one of the inside rectangles, I die cut the Happy Valentine's Day Creative Cut die. I kept the top piece and greeting die cut, discarding the bottom panel.
On the top part of the die cut panel, I applied Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and then spritzed the background with water from a Distress Sprayer. I let the water sit for approximately 30 seconds and blotted the water droplets with a dry paper towel.
On the other rectangle, I applied some Spun Sugar Distress Ink and again applied water with the Distress Sprayer, blotting up the excess water. Once dry, I applied more Spun Sugar Distress Ink through the Diagonal Stripes Stencil.
I added color to the die cut greeting using the new Candied Apple Distress Ink.
I die cut the Dotted Detail heart from the top panel of the design and from a scrap of watercolor cardstock. I set aside the pink die cut heart to use on another project and applied the Candied Apple Distress Ink to the other die cut heart. Again I distressed the heart with water from the Distress Sprayer.
I stamped the birds from the Oh Happy Birds Stamp Set on smooth watercolor paper using Jet Black Archival Ink and colored in the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I die cut the images with the coordinating Oh Happy Birds dies and added white dot detail to the bellies using the Sakura White Gel Pen and colored over the whole birds with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Marker.
I adhered the top panel to the striped rectangle and adhered the die cut greeting. I stamped an additional greeting from the Oh Happy Birds Stamp Set below the die cut greeting using Black Dye Ink.
I added the red heart inlay and the two birds to the rectangle and adhered the whole thing to a white side fold card base. I stamped the small, solid hearts from the Oh Happy Birds Stamp Set using Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple Distress Ink. I adhered two skinny Dotted Detail frames, one on top of the other, around the rectangle and finished with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix sequins.
