Simon Says Stamp April 2016 Card Kit | Mod Circle Inlay Cards

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a couple more cards created with the Simon Says Stamp April 2016 Card Kit, A Colorful Life and one of my most favorite Simon Says Stamp exclusive dies, Mod Circle. These clean and simple inlay style cards were created with just four pieces of paper, stickers, side fold card bases, Glossy Accents, and the Mod Circle Die.

I die cut a piece of white cardstock, black cardstock, and two pieces of Simple Stories Life In Color 6x6 paper (all from the April 2016 kit) using the Mod Circle Die. I mixed and matched the pieces to create to inlay card bases, attaching all the circle pieces on the side fold card bases. 

I added greetings to both cards using stickers from the Life In Color Stickers included in the kit. I added heart stickers to both cards and applied a layer of Glossy Accents to all the hearts.

Bella Blvd Fabric Project | Rainbow Heart Mini Quilt

Happy Saturday friends!

Last week my newest Bella Blvd fabric was shared on the Bella Blvd blog and today I'm going to share it here with my readers.

The heart pillow tutorial I shared last month was inspired by THIS free pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop. I love the rainbow design of the heart mini quilt and knew it would  look amazing with the 5” squares of scrap Bella Blvd Fabric! This mini measuring 27 1/2” square came together so quickly and would look great hung on the wall or used as a table topper.

I purposely kept the color combination to a “rainbow” look with a white background so the heart would really pop. I backed the mini quilt with the Snapshots Family Pink Fabric and bound the quilt with a scrappy binding made from several 2 1/2” wide strips of Bella Blvd fabrics.

I used simple straight line quilting (my favorite) for this little mini quilt.

Mama Elephant Designer Series | Whale Wishes + Ocean Wave Trio

Today I have a ocean scene card featuring the adorable new Whale Wishes Stamps and coordinating Whale Wishes Creative Cuts Dies + the Ocean Wave Trio Creative Cuts Dies. These new stamps and dies perfectly coordinate with one another to create amazing water/ocean themed scenes for cute and clever greeting cards!

To create the background of my card, I die cut the Dotted Detail frame from watercolor cardstock three times. By die cutting the frame, I am left with the perfect rectangle for the "inside scene" of my card. One rectangle will be the sunshine background and from the other two I die cut the ocean wave borders.

On the sunshine background, I applied Fossilized Amber Distress Ink and then stamped the sun rays from the Sunny Skies Stamp Set using Wild Honey Distress Ink. I applied Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, and Salty Ocean Distress Inks to the three water borders. I spritzed all four pieces with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water sit for approximately 30 seconds and then blotted the pieces dry, revealing awesome distressing.

On the Salty Ocean border on the forefront of the card I stamped a greeting from the Whale Wishes Stamp Set with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I added detail to the highlight areas on the large script word with the Sakura White Pen. I stamped water droplets coming off the loop in the letter "s" using the Salty Ocean Ink and added Glossy Accents for additional dimension.

I layered the ocean wave borders along the bottom edge of the sunshine rectangle.

I stamped the spray of water from the Whale Wishes Stamp Set over the sunshine background with black ink and filled in the water droplets with the Salty Ocean Distress Marker and then covered the droplets with Glossy Accents for shine and dimension.

The whales were stamped in a crisp black ink on smooth white cardstock with a bit of color added to the the white areas with Copic Markers. I die cut the whales using the coordinating Whale Wishes Creative Cuts Dies and added a layer of Glossy Accents to really make the black "pop"! Once dry, I adhered the whales to the scene as shown.

I adhered the rectangle to a white card base and then adhered four black cardstock die cut frames around the scene to frame it up.

Mama Elephant | Butterfly Kisses "You Are In My Thoughts" Card

The beautiful Butterfly Kisses Stamp Set from Mama Elephant is wonderful for creating many kinds of greeting cards. Today I'm sharing a sympathy/thinking of you card showcasing the Butterfly Kisses Stamps and coordinating dies colored with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

I stamped the flowers and butterfly from the Butterfly Kisses Stamp Set on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and colored in the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I die cut the images with the coordinating Butterfly Kisses Dies and set them aside to work on the background of the card.

I die cut the Madison Avenue Frame from smooth white cardstock, reserving the frame for the card and die cut it again from watercolor cardstock, reserving the inside rectangle and saving the frame for another project. On the inside rectangle, I applied Shaded Lilac and Spun Sugar Distress Inks using an Ink Blending Tool. I spritzed the piece with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water sit for about 30 seconds and then blotted the panel dry with a paper towel.

Once the background was dry, I stamped greetings from the Butterfly Kisses Stamp Set on the background as shown using the Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I adhered the background to the center of a side fold card base and then trimmed the floral die cuts and placed them along the bottom edge. I adhered the frame in place, placing some of the leaves from the florals on top of the frame instead of "behind" the frame. I secured the frame to the card base and then adhered the butterfly with foam adhesive.

Lawn Fawn | Ready, Set, Shake "Happy Spring" Easter Tag

Welcome to the March Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week!

Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing the Ready, Set, Shake Stamp Set. I love that Lawn Fawn has created a complimentary stamp set for the Ready, Set, Snow Stamps and Ready, Set Snow Shaker Dies released during the holiday season. I paired the Ready, Set, Shake greeting with Easter images from the Chirpy Chirp Chirp Stamp Set for this sweet Easter snow globe tag!

For the background of the snow globe tag, I die cut a solid snow globe shape from watercolor cardstock using a Ready, Set, Shake Shaker Die. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to stamp the images from from the Chirpy Chirp Chirp Stamp Set and Happy Easter Stamp Set. I colored the images with Distress Markers and a paintbrush dipped in water for the no line look. 

I die cut the front of the snow globe from watercolor cardstock and applied Twisted Citron and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks to the frame, spritzed it with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water sit for about 30 seconds and then blotted the piece dry. I adhered the front of the snow globe to the background panel. The greeting was stamped on watercolor cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and watercolored with the Picked Raspberry Distress Marker and then die cut with the coordinating Ready, Set, Snow Die.

I die cut a tag and backing for the snow globe from smooth white cardstock using the Stitched Circle Dies and Ready, Set, Snow Shaker Dies. I stamped a greeting and butterfly from the Chirpy Chirp Chirp Stamp Set on the tag back using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I stamped the inside of the butterfly with the Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo Ink.

I sandwiched the tag between the snow globe backing and Easter image panel and finished the tag with twine.

Mama Elephant | Little Emotions "Smile You're The Best" Card

Emojis are everywhere and the new Little Emotions stamp set from Mama Elephant are absolutely adorable! Interactive with a body image, lots and lots of faces and accessories, you can create emojis for almost any occasion. I couldn't pick just one or two emojis for my rainbow themed card so instead I made eleven standing along the top arc of the Rainbow High Dies.

To create the background, I die cut a rectangle from smooth white cardstock using the Peek A Frame A2 sized stitched rectangle die. I die cut another rectangle from watercolor cardstock and die cut a cloudy border from the watercolor cardstock using a Landscape Trio Die. I die cut the rainbow and heart from watercolor cardstock using the Rainbow High Die.

I trimmed the rainbow pieces apart with scissors and then applied Distress Inks to each layer of the rainbow with the Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks. I applied a bit of color to the cloudy border with the Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I spritzed the pieces with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water droplets sit for about 30 seconds and then blotted all the pieces dry with a paper towel.

I adhered the top arc of the rainbow to the stitched rectangle base and then started stamping the adorable emojis from the Little Emotions Stamp Set, working from the center out. I stamped the images with the Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and colored in the images with Copic Markers.

Once all the emojis were stamped and colored, I adhered the remaining rainbow pieces to the rectangle and then adhered the cloudy border along the bottom edge of the piece. I die cut the Smile Script Die from Black Cardstock and adhered it to the border as shown. I applied Barn Door Distress Ink to the die cut heart and applied it to the end of the loop on the letter "e" on the word "smile". I stamped the "You're The Best" greeting from the Labeled Messages Stamp Set with black ink on smooth white cardstock before trimming and adhering it below the word "smile".

I finished the card by adding detail to the eyes on the emojis with the Sakura Black Glaze Pen and adding Glossy Accents to the mouths and hearts. Once dry, I adhered the entire panel to a side fold card base.

Lawn Fawn | Lovable Legends "You're A Legend" Card

Welcome to the March Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week!

To create the background of the card, I die cut two A2 sized frames from watercolor cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Frames Die Collection. From one of the inside rectangles, I die cut two borders using the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders Dies. On the front border I applied Pumice Stone and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks. For the green border, I applied Forest Moss and Crushed Olive Distress Ink. On the background, I applied Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I spritzed the pieces with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water sit for about 30 seconds and then blotted the pieces dry with a paper towel.

I stamped the trees from the Lovable Legends Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Ink. I stamped the feet using Lawn Fawn Walnut Ink. I stamped Big Foot and the party hat with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and colored in the image with Copic Markers and then die cut all the images with the coordinating Lovable Legends Dies. I stamped the balloon from the Party Animal Stamp Set and colored it in with Copic Markers and die cut the balloon with the coordinating Party Animal Die.

I stamped a greeting from the Lovable Legends Stamp Set on vellum using Versamark Ink and heat embossed the greeting with white embossing powder. I die cut the greeting using a Everyday Sentiment Banner Die.

I adhered the two borders along the blue sky background and then adhered the trees, feet, Big Foot, balloon, and party hat. I adhered the white die cut frame to a top fold card base and then adhered the scene panel inside the frame. I adhered the Distress Inked frame on top of the white one and secured the vellum banner between the two frames.

Detail was added to Big Foot's eyes with the Sakura Black Glaze Pen and Glossy Accents gave dimension to his nose. A bit of the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen was added to the balloon.

I continued the design from the front of the card on the inside by stamping a greeting from the Happy Everything Stamp Set and adding more stamped Big Foot feet.

Lawn Fawn | Just For You + Just For You Labels "Happy Mail" Card

Welcome to the Lawn Fawn March Inspiration Week!

Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing the Just For You Stamps and coordinating dies and Just For You Labels Stamps and coordinating dies. These little images not only make the most adorable cards and tags but are the perfect embellishment for the backs of cards and envelopes and are the perfect accessory to other Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.

To create the tone on tone background on the red card base I stamped the "hello" card and little flower from the Just For You Stamp Set on the Avery Elle Sugar Coated Card Base using Versamark Ink. I set the card base aside and then stamped the label from the Just For You Labels Stamp Set and the mailbox, envelope, greetings and pencil from the Just For You Stamp Set on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I colored in the images with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:

MAILBOX: Light Carmine, Carmine, Oatmeal, Deep Brown

PINK ENVELOPES: Sugared Almond Pink, Peach Pink, Light Carmine

AQUA ENVELOPES: Green Shadow, Turquoise, Tea Rose

PENCIL: Light Carmine, Carmine, Sugared Almond Pink, Peach Pink, Gray

I die cut the images with the coordinating Just For You dies and coordinating Just For You Labels dies. Detail was added to the eyes of the images with the Sakura Black Glaze Pen.  A small red heart from the Just For You Labels Stamp Set was stamped on the label using Lawn Fawn Lobster Red Ink. I attached the images to the card base with foam adhesive and Zots Bling Glue Dots.

Mama Elephant | Spring Garden "Missing You" Window Scene Card

The new Spring Garden Stamp Set and coordinating dies from Mama Elephant are perfect for creating spring-themed greeting cards! I created an outdoor scene with a window (Mama Elephant Window Watching Die) with an adorable window box filled with flowers and a little guy peeking out from "inside" the house and a little girl gardening "outside". A greeting from the Labeled Messages Stamp Set finishes off this sweet scene card.

To create the outside of the "house", I embossed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of cardstock using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Bricked Texture Fades Embossing Folder. I gently applied Pumice Stone Distress Ink over the embossed areas to bring out the design of the "brick house". From the "house", I die cut a window using a Mama Elephant Window Watching Die. I die cut the window from smooth white cardstock five times and adhered them one on top of another for a dimensional window frame.

For the grass, I die cut smooth white cardstock using a Grassy Trio Border Die and applied Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks to the border and then attached it to the bottom of the "house".

I stamped the boy, girl, flowers, flower box, wheelbarrow, bee, and ladybug images from the Spring Garden Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and colored in the images with Copic Markers. All of the images were die cut using the coordinating dies.

I trimmed a piece of Simon Says Stamp Surf Blue Cardstock to fit behind the house panel and adhered it to a top fold card base. The boy image was adhered behind the stacked window frames and then the house panel and window were adhered to the card base.

I adhered the window box, flowers, girl, bee, and wheelbarrow to the card as shown. I stamped a greeting from the Labeled Messages Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock and trimmed around it, leaving a thin border all the way around before attaching to the bottom of the card as shown. I attached the ladybug to the greeting to finish the card.
