Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today I'm sharing a cute little scene for Cinco de Mayo showcasing some of my favorite Lawn Fawn stamps and dies combined to create a custom design. Cute little faces on the Stuck On You Cactus add character and a whimsical touch.
I stamped the cactus images and flower from the Stuck On You Stamp Set on watercolor cardstock using Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Barn Door Distress Inks. I blended out the inks with a paintbrush dipped in water to smooth out the colors and to give the images a great watercolored look. I stamped the grass images from the Mom + Me Stamp Set using Scattered Straw and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks and blended out the colors again with a damp paintbrush. I also stamped a sunshine from the Hello Sunshine Stamp Set using Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber Distress Inks.
I stamped the cowboy hat from the Hats Off To You Stamp Set using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and watercolored the hat with Scattered Straw and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks for a no-line watercolored look. I added a red band to the hat with Barn Door Distress Ink.
Once the ink had dried I stamped faces on the cactus images with faces from the Sweet Smiles Stamp Set using Black Licorice Ink.
I die cut all the images with the Stuck On You Dies, Mom + Me Dies, Hats Off To You Dies, and Hello Sunshine Dies.
For the background I die cut two ovals from watercolor cardstock using a Stitched Ovals Die. From one of the ovals I die cut two borders using the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders Dies. On the borders I applied Scattered Straw and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks and on the solid oval I added Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. I spritzed the three pieces with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water sit for approximately 25 seconds and then blotted dry with a paper towel.
I die cut frames for my scene with additional Stitched Ovals Dies, die cutting two red frames and five black frames using the Lawn Fawn Rainbow Cardstock.
I trimmed a 6x6 Let's Polka In The Meadow patterned paper and adhered it to a top fold white card base. I adhered the frames to the card and then assembled the scene and attached it to my card. I adhered the red and black frames one on top of another for dimension.
I die cut a banner using an Everyday Sentiment Banner die and stamped a greeting using the Clark's ABC's Stamp Set and the word "Happy" from the Just For You Stamp Set. Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink, Carrot Ink, and Jalapeno Ink add color to the greeting.
