Welcome to the Lawn Fawn May Inspiration Week!
All of the Summer 2016 products will be available for purchase on May 19th!
Today the Lawn Fawn Design Team is showcasing the amazing new Mermaid For You Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I combined these new stamps and dies with the new Cross Stitched Rectangles Dies and Ocean Wave Borders Dies. A shaker card is perfect for these images, especially with the addition of Sparkling Clear Seed Beads to add to the underwater scene.
For the background I die cut two of the Large Cross Stitched Rectangle Dies from watercolor cardstock. From the inside rectangle I die cut a wave border using a Ocean Wave Borders Dies. I applied Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks to the frame and background using the Mini Ink Blending Tool. I spritzed the pieces with water from a Distress Sprayer, let the water sit for about 20 seconds and then blotted it dry with a paper towel.
I stamped some fish on the background using the Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I added some water to the fish with a paintbrush and then dabbed the ink away with a paper towel. The Distress Inks react with water so well and this is a great way to remove the background color instead of masking the fish before applying the background ink colors. I applied Fossilized Amber to the fish and let the ink dry. I stamped the bubbles and removed the ink the same way and then applied a layer of Glossy Accents to the bubbles.
I stamped the mermaids, crown, trident, and rock images from the Mermaid For You Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I colored in the images with Copic Markers. I stamped the seaweed with Jalapeno Ink and the coral images with Lobster Ink and Carrot Ink. I die cut all the images with the coordinating Mermaid For You Dies. I added some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the crown and mermaid tails. I added Glossy Accents to the seaweed and coral and set them aside to dry.
I die cut a transparency using the A2 sized cross stitched rectangle and stamped a greeting from the Mermaid For You Stamp Set using Jet Black StazOn Ink. By stamping the greeting on the transparency instead of the inside scene, it can be read even with the shaker material inside.
I adhered the center rectangle to a side fold card base and then adhered the stamped and die cut elements to form the scene as shown. I adhered the transparency to the back of the frame and then doubled up foam adhesive around all four sides and filled the shaker with Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Seed Beads.
I adhered the card base/scene to the shaker to finish the shaker design.
