Today I wanted to share one of my favorite techniques with pigment inks: the Rock 'n Roll technique. This technique is great for applying more than one ink color to a stamp or image before inking it on the paper. I'm using the awesome Mommy Lhey pigment inks with Mommy Lhey Bee Mine and Hello Stamp Sets for this sweet hello card.
I stamped the bumblebee from the mini Mommy Lhey Bee Mine Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and colored in with Copic Markers. I fussy cut the images and set aside the images to work on the background and greeting on the card.
I die cut a rectangle from smooth white cardstock using a Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Die. I die cut an oval from the rectangle using a Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Oval Die. On the background frame I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Bee Mine Stamp Set using the Cotton Candy and Jelly Bean Pigment Ink Collections. This is a great way to make your own patterned paper design to perfectly match the design of your card.
I die cut the Scalloped Oval frame from black cardstock three times and adhered them one on top of another for a dimensional frame.
Using the inside piece from the oval frame, I inked up the "happy hello" greetings from the Mommy Lhey Hello Stamp Set using two colors of pigment ink. I inked up the greeting with the lighter ink first and then "rolled on" the darker ink color along the bottom edge before stamping on the inside oval panel. This gives a great two-tone greeting.
I stamped the bumblebees again using black ink and replaced the colored fussy cut bees as shown. I added detail with white and black glaze pens and Glossy Accents for the noses.
I stamped a bumblebee "trail" using the Sunny Studio Backyard Bugs Stamp Set.
I adhered the frames and elements to a side fold card base to finish the design.
