The Color Layering Stamp Sets from Hero Arts are some of my most favorite because you can get such dimension in a flat image. I've combined the ice cream cone images from the Coloring Layering Ice Cream Stamp Set with greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Ice Cream Dream Stamp Set. A soft watercolored backdrop is the perfect compliment to this yummy-looking card!
The ice cream images from the Coloring Layering Ice Cream Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock using 2 shades per color for a lovely color layering look, then die cut with the coordinating Color Layering Ice Cream Frame Cuts Dies.
With these bold, bright ice cream cones I decided to create a simple color wash background with an embossed resist greeting. This keeps the emphasis on the ice cream images but still adds interest to the background. I first stamped a greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Ice Cream Dream Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Water applied to a Bristol Smooth Cardstock rectangle and then a wash of Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors were applied to the water for a pretty watercolored background. The embossed area resists the watercolor.
Once dry, I die cut a panel from the watercolored rectangle using an Avery Elle Wonky Stitches Die. I adhered the stamped and die cut elements to the rectangle panel as shown and adhered it to a side fold card base.
On the inside of the card I stamped another greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Ice Cream Dream Stamp Set and stamped additional ice cream cone images off the bottom of the card to complete the design.
