Hello! Today I'm sharing an interactive light up card featuring the Lawn Fawn Sweet Christmas Stamp Set and coordinating dies with the Chibitronics Chibi Lights LED Starter Kit! Creating a light up card is so fun and is sure to make the recipient smile!
I stamped and colored all the components from the Sweet Christmas Stamp Set first. I stamped the peppermints and windows directly on the gingerbread house instead of making them seperate. This way the lights I will be adding will show through only one layer of cardstock. Once everything was colored I die cut the images with the coordinating Sweet Christmas Dies.
I die cut a background from smooth white cardstock using the A2 sized Stitched Rectangle Die and applied Chipped Sapphire to the "sky". I die cut another rectangle from smooth white cardstock and die cut two snowy borders from it using the Stitched Hillside Borders Dies.
I added a greeting from the Sweet Christmas Stamp Set to the snowy border for the front of the card. I adhered the gingerbread men to the bottom right corner and adhered some of the pieces to give me an idea for placement of the gingerbread house. I marked on the back snowy border where the windows would be and used a craft knife to cut them out. The lighting components are all going to be hidden behind that second hillside border.
On the background of the card (the inked rectangle) I sketched out the path for the copper tape from the Chibitronics Chibi Lights LED Starter Kit and also marked where the battery would go. This helps when adhering the tape so that I make sure the two lines aren't too far apart. Once I had the copper tape in place, I adhered the lights and placed the battery in the "housing" unit I created for it and made sure the lights lit up! Once everything worked correctly, I adhered the battery in the housing unit with glue dots and adhered the scene borders with foam adhesive. Two layers of foam adhesive builds up the layer enough to disguise the battery. Now when I push on the gingerbread men the house windows light up!
i finished the card by adding glitter to some of the candies with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and stardust glitter pen and added white dots to the cheeks of the gingerbread men. I adhered the panel to a side fold white card base and made sure to add a note inside the card telling the recipient to push the gingerbread men for the house to light up.
