Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Special Holiday Release Week Blog Hop!
You should be arriving here from the amazing Debby Hughes Blog.
Today I have a card showcasing my favorite component of the Swell Christmas Stamp Set included in the 2016 Holiday Card Kit. The Holiday Card Kit is jam-packed with so many great supplies that you'll have your holiday cards, tags, and projects done in no time! I am a big fan of the traditional santa face and this image is no exception. I knew from the minute I opened up my kit, what I was going to make first! ha!
I maybe went a little overboard and stamped the face on some of the kraft cardstock in the kit multiple times and colored in the images with Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I love colored pencils on kraft cardstok and these turned out so much better than I even thought they would in my head. However, truth time here, this took forever to color. I know exactly who this card is going to, someone who loves the traditional Santa as much as me (my mama). Shhhh.... don't tell her.
I trimmed down some of the Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock from the kit to 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" and stamped the Santa face from the Swell Christmas Stamp Set all over the background using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I then embarked on a 2 1/2 hour journey of coloring in the Santa faces with my Prismacolor Colored Pencils. Good thing I like to color! I didn't even use a blender here. I simply colored and layered colors until I got the look I was going for. I couldn't be happier with the results. This is exactly my favorite kind of Santa!
Once the faces were finished I filled in any open spaces with additional images from the Swell Christmas Stamp Set using Yeti Pigment Ink. I colored in the holly and berries with Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I love the look of colored pencils over white pigment ink! I decided the berries need glitter instead so I added some Joyful Stickled (also included in the Holiday Card Kit!) to them and set the background aside to dry.
I die cut four frames from the Schoolhouse Red Cardstock in the kit using the scallop Frames Die. I stacked the frames one on top of another and adhered them over my custom background as shown. I die cut a banner from vellum and an Authentic Retro Christmas patterned paper (from the kit) using a Basic Banners Die. I stamped a greeting from the Swell Christmas Stamp Set on the vellum banner using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Antique Gold Embossing Powder from the kit.
I layered the vellum banner over the patterned one and adhered them to the card as shown.
I adhered the panel to a top fold white card base to complete the design.
