It's time for my weekly video series,It's In The Details, for the Waffle Flower Inspiration Team. Every Friday I will share a new video featuring amazing Waffle Flower Stamps and Dies.
Spinner cards are a great way to send an interactive greeting to friends and family. I love that Waffle Flower Crafts has a bunch of mirror image critters and coordinating dies that are perfect for this technique! One card just wasn’t enough with this technique so I made a whole set! With 4-6 more cards, wouldn’t this make a great Christmas/holiday gift for a loved one?!
I stamped the cat and bunny from the Welcome Spring Stamp Set, the fox from the Trick or Treat Stamp Set (the ghosts would make darling spinners for Halloween!), and the snail from the Snail Mail Stamp Set. I colored all these images in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and die cut them with the coordinating Welcome Spring Dies, Trick or Treat Dies, and Snail Mail Dies.
I sandwiched some thin silver embroidery floss between the two mirror image critters for the spinner element.
For the spinner frames I die cut a Lacy Layers rectangle and the smaller of the two Flower Circles Inverted frame die. For these cards I'm not using the scallop frame component, I'm simply using the opening for my spinner and a window into the inside of the card. Using an extra frame as a template, I cut notch at the top and then lined up the template on the front of top fold card bases to perfectly alighn the circle for die cutting. (See the video for complete step-by-step instructions on how to create the window).
I stamped a greeting from the Balloon Messages Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder allowing me to use the embossed resist technique on my frames, adding the color I wanted for the frame. I applied Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks.
I spritzed the panel with water from a Distress Sprayer, letting the water wick away some of the ink and then I splattered the background with watered down Brushed Pewter Distress Paint. I set aside the backgrounds to compeltely dry.
I die cut a rectangle panel from light gray cardstock for the inside of each card to provide contrast. The spinner was sandwiched between the card front and the frame panel and I finished each card with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Iridescent Mini Heart Confetti.
