Welcome to Day 1 of my last minute Handmade Holiday 2016 Series!
I'm back with my third year of last minute handmade ideas! Even with the craziness of the season I like to be able to add handmade touches to gifts for our friends and family. Over the next two weeks I'll be sharing mostly quick (an hour or less) Handmade Holiday ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I created two gift card holder cards)!
Each Handmade Holiday project blog post will feature a brand new, never before seen project(s) plus at least one incredible giveaway from a generous sponsor!I
ZIPPER PANEL GIFT CARD HOLDERS WITH DIMENSIONAL DIE CUTS
I absolutely love the Zipper Panel Die from Ellen Hutson for creating a hidden compartment for gift cards! Not only is it a great way to give a gift card to friends, family, or loved ones but the interactive element is so much fun! I combined the Zipper Panel Die with great dimensional die cuts created with the Ellen Hutson Essentials By Ellen Holiday Words Dies and Antlers Dies die cut from specialty papers and Fun Foam for awesome dimension!
For the front panel of each gift card holder, I die cut some woodgrain cardstock patterned paper using the Zipper Panel Die. I trimmed a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock for the inside of each gift card holder and stamped greetings from the Merry & Bright Stamp Set with gold Delicata Ink. Once you've handwritten your sentiment and name and have added a gift card you can attach the zipper panel over the inside panel with adhesive around all four sides.
For the dimensional die cuts on the front of the card, I adhered Stick It to both sides of a piece of Fun Foam. On one side I removed the backing paper and adhered scraps of gold specialty papers before die cutting each paper with either a Holiday Words Die or the Antlers Die. I carefully removed the backing paper from each dimensional die cut and adhered the words and antlers to the front zipper panel as shown. I adorned the antlers with brown/gold gemstones and glitter dots, added a red pearl gem for the nose and added black enamel dots for the eyes to make the "O" in the word "Joy" Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer!
